  1. If I put the TB I have in my hands, which is owned by a non-member, into a member-only cache, will the owner be able to see the log for it?
  2. Does anyone know exactly what time locationlesses will die tonight? Midnight EST or what? Also, any idea if changes to existing logs will be allowed, or are they completely frozen? Sorry if these questions have already been asked, but the search function in the forums is not working right now. Thx
  3. I'm working on the locationless cache Where's In A Name?, trying to get in under the wire. My username calculates out to 83 26._9, and that is a longitude about 10 miles east of Macon, GA. If you are interested, please e-mail me to confirm that noone else is working on it already. And if anyone's name comes close to 39 39.30 or 105 03.134, let me know and I'll be happy to reciprocate! Thanks in advance!
  4. I am having this problem as well, and also sometimes caches that I have NOT found do not show up. Actually, I get the red check, but when I do an identify, many caches dont show up. And then other times when I 'map it', some caches dont show up UNTIL I do an identify. Frustrating...
  5. 05/05/05 is in the Denver area - a 1/1 though...
  6. I am glad I stumbled upon this thread. I felt bad after Aspen got muggled immediately after I placed Eagle One TB in it. The TB went missing along with the cache, & I worried that I had been seen by a non-player while logging. I even started a thread about it. I did not wish to think the worst, but as AtoZ pointed out in a thread reply, a player might have trashed it, and it appears that that is the case - sure enough Remorser has the TB now.
  7. Greetings - I submitted a new cache named 05/05/05 on April 27th, with a request that the cache not be released until (you guessed it) May 5th. There has been no reviewer activity as far as I can tell (no posts). On May 3rd, I added a post reviewer note asking if anyone has looked at it, and got no reply. So, I was hoping one of the reviewers who monitor this forum could take a look in the queue & confirm if it has been looked at & the reviewer is just waiting until the 5th to take any action, or if it has not been looked at yet. It is in the Denver area... Thanks
  8. I am ready to jump in (finally) and hide some caches. A couple of questions: Can I submit a basic 'page', and then spruce it up once it is approved? How does a cache owner change the cache page? Can I ask that a cache be released on a specific day in the future (this would be important - in this case it would be in a week or so)? And if so, is it ok to place the cache closer to that date, or should it be in place when I submit? The location of waypoint for this cache is important, but that place is too exposed, so I plan on hiding the actual cache about 100 yrds away. The explanation would be something like ' standing at the waypoint, look for the big white T. Now find the next closest big with T. From there take a seat a few yards east.' Would this be a multi? Thanks
  9. Lost my Palm IIIxe either during or immediately after a DNF in Savannah, GA (the cache was Forsyth Park, which was behind a construction fence). Did not realize untill I was packing in the hotel the next morning. Taxied all around to the different cache sites I had done the previous day, but no luck. This was back in Feb 05. Any Savannah cachers run across a Palm III (or know where I could contact the local lost & found). Once you go paperless, you canna go back - I have a 'new' used Palm III...
  10. I am curious how often (overall) caches are discovered & trashed. Did a search and found no similar topic in the forums. We recently found a cache that was hidden within sight of a trail (maybe 150 ft off the trail & visiable from maybe 600 ft of trail, so pretty open), determined where the cache was (hidden under a log), and waited until there was no one visible before retreiving. Then we moved maybe hundred feet away from the hiding place to check out the container, log, etc. And again, waited until there was no one in view before re-hiding. While we were discretely checking out the cache, a number of folks passed by on the trail. The cache came up missing for the next searcher (it has since been found, but with TBs missing). I feel bad about this, but felt at the time that we were being stealthful & discrete. My questions are: How far away do other cachers move from the hiding place before logging? What did we do wrong (if anything)? Should I feel responsible for this cache being trashed? Do chache placers take visibility, etc into consideration when placing caches? Thanks. Team Wazonmadiapah
  11. Will be in Savannah for a few days Feb 14 - 18. Would like to do some caching in the area & perhaps hook up with some locals. What are the best caches?
  12. It appears you have downloaded data in ESRI's shapefile format (.dbf, .sbn, .shp, .shx files, all with the same filename). All of the files work together, but you need a GIS mapping program to view/query them (ie ArcView). I am new to the geocaching world, and would be interested to learn if shapefiles compatable with any recreational GPS units.
