Ooo, e-mail on its way. We just got our canoe last year, a nice Wenonah Spirit II 17-footer. It's been loads of fun for our family of four to take it out on local waters. We're near the Erie Canal and only 30 minutes from 5 different Finger Lakes!

Good point. I only had 100 of my personal Ferreter5 geocoins made (non-trackable, numbered, 2D dies, trade-only, 1.75-inches, 3.5mm) and I know what they cost me. I was happy to pay for them out of pocket. I'm not sure I'd want to assume the same cost for a merit coin, although making the merit coin smaller (e.g. 1.5-inches) and other small changes (e.g. lack of colors) would help lower the cost. Just pondering the possibilities for the future. Thanks for the reply!

I was wondering, how many did you have made? The reason I ask is that if it's a farily small number, then did they end up costing a fair bit per-coin? If they weren't all the expensive per-coin to have made, then what are some of the ways you were able to keep the cost down? Or, was the cost per-coin or total cost for the run not something you were all that concerned about? Just curious in case anyone around this area decides to try creating a merit-type coin.

So far I have not seen my Ferreter5 geocoin appear on e-bay. Some contributing factors probably are that there are only 100 in existence, that I've only ever traded them (never sold them), and that they're not trackable on the geocaching.com site. Or, maybe people just think they're ugly! Makes me happy!

I live in Canandaigua. It's funny when someone from a company calls me on the phone and tries to pronounce it. Or, I say it and they can't spell it. cann-ann-DAY-gwuh It's from the Seneca language, meaning "The Chosen Place". It's the name of one of the Finger Lakes and the name of the city and township at the north end of the lake.
