  1. Ginger! and I are headed to Barrett Lake tomorrow am. Meet us at Lake Jennings P&R at 0600; I have room for three and some geodogs.

The two other trucks that you saw in the park and ride belonged to Gratefuldad116 and HIKERFREAK as we met there at 530am this morning to do the Sandy Creek Cowboy series. Popular park and ride for cachers. There was a blue truck there when we returned.

  2. 04.gifHappy Fathers day all you Dads out there

63.gif It's your day to do what you want. I went Caching What about you 812.gif156.gif and tonight is pizza night. 89.gifkok007.gif

Well certainly I went caching. Did the Sandy Creek Cowboy series w/Gratefuldad116 and a new cacher, HIKERFREAK. What a fun and creative series but I think the new guy is going to be spoiled now. Should have started him off with lamp post caches and guard rail caches first. Happy Fathers Day to all.

Remember when 1000 caches was a big number?

Remember when I went by the name Duscwe! (most pronounced it "douche-way")?

Just realized I passed my 4th year of caching...

What, exactly, was Parsa doing with this list...

I was just looking at numbers for something I'm doing, and this is the rough breakdown. I hope I didn't forget someone from the county. If I did, I'm sure I'll hear from you!

This was one of the few times I was ahead of CHUY! I had 10 finds on this date and Chuy! wouldn't make his first find for another 11 days.

Holy Toledo! What a wide variety of accomplishments!

Don Coyote: Your first 400 bags!! yippee....OBTW..aren't you related to that evil MM?

Team FATMAN: 1300: imagine how many you'd have if you quit turkey hunting...I know..no way!

Chuy!: 500 FTFs: the guy never sleeps..that's how he does it

Duncan! : 5700 finds: Are you ahead of $kimmer yet?

    Congrats All!

Congratulations to all and let me add a Congratulations to GRATEFULDAD116 on reaching 500 finds today in Horsethief Canyon and he ran it. What a cacher.
  5. ;) Wow!! Cache Across America was finally completed. Check out the cache and pay extra attention to VERMONT!! :Dgc12e08

That Vermont couple looks vaguely familiar. If they have poison oak in Vermont then that guy in the back is probably sitting in it.

  6. For the Corte Madera I plan on leaving my house around 5 AM Monday. Will have lots of room in the big truck (just me and my egos leaving Teddie home  ) for anyone that wants a ride. Since I'm so far South I can route past most areas. 619-424-7011 Jack

You're not home Jack. Your better half said you were out doing something called geocaching. Would be interested in hitching a ride with you on Monday if possible.

  7. jahoadi and john just crossed over the 4000 find line! Way to go! You can slow down now....relax take it easy...take your shoes off...Congrats and thanks for the fun!

04.gifWay to go you two 1077.gif How long before 5000 1282.gif

Congratulations you two. Now it's time to relax and let that other streak come to a quite end although I'm thinking that John is not about to let that happen.

  8. :anibad::anibad: Great..now John is sucking up to the admin guys... he has no shame...r/jodi

Well if that's not a case of the kettle calling the pot calling the kettle black!

Anyhoo, perhaps the Evil Moose would like to begin his archiving with that nasty little hide in MLK Park? I think it is camo'd with an old pair of John's underwear hanging in the tree :o ! Ewwwwwww!

Nope, I checked there and didn't find it. Look elsewhere.

  9. The race is on

:(:(Ok...the race is over; KWVER wins with a big 4000!!! Amazing!! Even with a broken thumb, three stitches, and a black eye Mr. KWVER drags Mrs. KWVER out there to take the lead! We are not worthy of such competition!!! It was fun though! (maybe if John hadn't crashed the FJ we would have had a chance.....no, we were doomed from the start!) :) You guys are such fun. Thanks for all the laughs along the way! Now please don't challenge John again :( !

Congratulations to the KWVER's, Jim and Denise. Remind me to never challenge you two. I'm sure John is plotting a way to beat you to 5000. Good Job and hope the Mrs. heals soon.

  10. I'd like to make an announcement that is sure to please many and disappoint a few.

I have finally joined the Garmin crowd. Now I can be just like you. :(

Don’t worry you Magellin Heads out there; I still have a couple of those too.

Ok, now that should get some discussion going.:laughing:

One of the few times I cached with you it was Two Garmins vs. your one Magellan and you kept grabbing the caches. It was either better technology or your superior geosense. Welcome to the world of Garmin and don't look back.

  11. Congrats "lostguy".

And congrats to 3cds on his 1000 finds. Miragee and I celebrated with him and his sons at Clevenger.

    Congrats 3cds! dancingbw4.gif

Since "lostguy" got a picture  ; here are the 3cds at Clevenger:

Congratulations to the 3cd's as we reached the 1000 milestone on the same day. Yours looked like it involved a little more work than mine but I'm sure we will both remember them. Congrats

  12. Speaking of Google Maps, go to "Get Directions" and type anything involving a trip across the Atlantic, such as New York City to London, and take a peek at the mode of transportation for the 3462 miles across the Atlantic.

When does this swim across the Atlantic event take place? I need to start training. Are there any caches we can grab on the way? Don't you guys think we could do the Pacific first since it is closer to most of us.

  13. For those of you that want to join us for a hike instead of driving up Otay. Below is a map showing the caches in Horsethief Canyon and the caches near the Carveacre Wind Caves. The meeting spot is the upper right corner at the Descanso P&R. Meeting time is 8:30AM on Saturday if that's OK with everyone....

I think the Horsethief hike is about 5 miles and it is about anoother 2-3 miels to get all the Carveacre caches (except the ones around Gaskill and Lawson - those would make for a good hike on another day).

Just to be sure I don't drive out here for nothing is this hike still on?

Yes! If you want I can swing through Ramona and get you.....

    Sounds good to me.

I'll be at the Descanso park and ride at 8:30am. See ya.

I'm in for the Horsethief hike on Saturday with the meeting place being the Descanso park and ride at 8:30am. Is there a cache at the Descanso park and ride so I'll be able to find the place.

  15. Anyone interested in the Otay Truck Trail this Saturday? I need to take a nice drive on a mountain. :( I was thinking of maybe even breakfast in the morning if others are game. It is suppose to be clear, nice day. Would probably start out between 8 or 9am.

I have a most of them but a couple are still out there to get. This was 6+ hours last time I went without to many detours. It will be for the better part of the day. Any takers?

    TA

I gota ask the wife :) I'm the king of the castle, When she's not home.
I have to ask too. But if you start too early I won't be asking...

I can wait a little bit.. what start time did you have in mind. I can always eat break before you get there. :(
I can't get all the way down there until at least 8:30AM. It's an hour drive for me. But I actually need to hike a bit. I'm getting out of shape because I got pretty sick after the desert hike and haven't done squat since mainly because I've been coughing, sneezing and hacking. It was some PITA virus that was really hard to shake. I'm almost better now but I need some exercise. Miragee has some new caches that I heard are good and are not too hard a hike. I was actually thinking of doing Otay when it got too hot to go hiking. It doesn't matter if it's hot because you can basically sit on your hinder all day in a vehicle for those....

If the final verdict is you are doing some Miragee caches at either Loveland Res. area or the Horsethief area and the sun, moon align with the will of the wife then I would be interested in going on either day. Will keep an eye on the forum to see what is decided.

  16. I previously had a Magellan Explorist GPS but I preferred my Garmin but I received a Magellan Mapsend Topo CD-Rom as a gift and it is still in the original wrapper that it came in. On the front it says Mapsend Topo for the United States and downloads topo and street maps to Magellan Map 330 series. It also says Now supports Meridian series of GPS receivers and also for use with SportTrak Mapping Series of GPS Receivers. On the top it has a little sticker that says V4.20D. Part number on this item is 980611. Make me an offer. Don't know anything about paypal and don't care to learn so I will accept other forms of payment and the item will be sent once I have the money in my greedy little hand.

Now free anywhere in the U.S. Don't like shipping outside the country as they make me jump through hoops at the post office.

Given away to the first person that emailed me.

  18. Yes, thanks M2. I'll be there at 8:30 J&J. I'm very appreciative that it wasn't earlier than that! :P

How long would this take? I am trying to multi-task.

Any one going early for breakfest at Dennys ??????

I'm game for an early breakfast before the hike. Can't hike with just the previous nights beer as my only fuel. See you at 7-7:15am at Denny's?
