  1. We talking caches, or his age? Sorry Harmon, couldn't resist. You da man, I only wish I could hike the places you do if I ever approach your young age. way to go Harmon 4000 That is AMAZING!! You go Harmon? Need another rest stop now? Congrats! Thanks all, I appreciate your support. Jodi's Rest Stop for Harmon was almost my last find. Fell face down into a pile of rocks from a stable standing position. I suspect that my fall was Janie's fault but I can't prove it. I've been saving #4,000 until Sandy is able to be with me. Thing is that she spent the past week in Arizona with her mother and her sisters. Imagine ... that close but no cigar until she returned. Maybe today with Sandy but certainly not on a mountain-top due to her rebuilt big toe that's coming along nicely but still mending. Finally I owe most of my find-count to the Geobabes and since those days to my super hiking pal Janie of Splashette fame. Janie badgered me up more mountain trails than I can recall. My final push toward 4,000 included Guatay Mountain, Mt. Wood- son, Mt. Miguel, Sweetwater Reservoir, north of the fifty-two, and most recently Barber Road. Thank you all for the many hides on county power trails. My only regret is that 4,000 finds aren't even half of what is respectable in San Diego County. I suppose that tagging along behind Geocaching super-stars is the best that an old man can hope for. Your pal, Harmon p.s. I've started a list of local Geocachers that haven't expressed congratulations for my amazing feet. Oops, make that feat. Congratulations Harmon!!! Way to go! We think 4000 is very respectable! (Now don't forget to cross our name off that list...) Foothills Drifter ... Check The Fat Cats ....... Check Me too, me too! Congratulations, Harmon! You are a great role model for all those folks that say they're too old for this game! Here's to your next 1000! P.S. Where's the picture with the funny cool hat this time? O.K., add me to the list of folks that have congratulated you on the fine accomplishment of 4000 finds. I think that both of us were in Coronado today but I didn't get to enjoy an ice cold beer and lunch at the Coronado Brewing Company. I think I had a Clif bar and some Gatorade for lunch while on a little bike ride with Miragee and Auld Pro. Congratulations again and may you find many, many more.
  2. Columbus, GA here. My son, Armynate, just got transferred from Fort Irwin, Ca. to Fort Benning in Georgia so I would appreciate the kind folks in Georgia welcoming him to your fine state and anyone in the area of Fort Benning, showing how Georgia caching is done. Fort Irwin is in the desert so if you see sand and then a pile of rocks then you have found the cache. I'm sure Georgia caching is just a tad bit different. Thanks to all who give him a hand. Time to stir the pot. Perhaps I have overestimated the southern hospitality I was expecting from the folks in Georgia. Being from the other coast, maybe this isn't the south but the east. I know California folks have a bad rep as not being too friendly but the Geocaching community in San Diego is the best around and always willing to show a stranger some fine caching. From Columbus, GA. Ill try to look your son up and send him an invite to our next CVCachers meeting. Thanks Richardgo, my faith in Georgia has been restored. Hopefully he will take you up on your kind offer and have a wonderful time. Thanks again.

  4. Just noticed that Jahoadi and John have gone over 9000 finds. Great job. Also forgot to congratulate Map4navigation on his 2000 and Lulu499 on her 1800th. It sure is hard to keep up with milestones in this area. Seem like everyday someone is reaching another milestone. Congrats to all.

  6. John, Jodi said that you could walk on water but this disproves that theory. What other act of your prowess, as stated by Jodi, are you not able to live up to.
  7. Good Job on your 300th, Jonathan. Hopefully you will stick with this obsession and be at 1000 in no time. Congratulations!!!!!!
  8. Done! Flagman has found his 5000th cache. Congrats!!!! I would be remiss not to give a hearty Congratulations to Flagman on his 5000th find. Great Job on your 5000th find and for all that you give back to the geocaching community. Thank you and congratulations.
  9. Here's another done-deal ... way to go FisnJack, 4001 finds ain't peanuts. Congratulations on your 4000th Fisnjack. Keep on plugging along and you'll be at 5000 in a few months. Great Job.
  10. Congratulations, now onward and upward to 10000 finds. Should take you guys a few more days. Congrats.
  11. The Husband/Wife couple from here in San Diego, Ca/ Fallon, Nv are on a streak of over 850 days of finding at least one cache a day. Probably helps that they are a husband/wife team but knowing and caching with this couple on numerous occassions, I certainly would bet the farm that this is a real streak and not a figment of their imagination. Truly a great team and wonderful folks.
  12. You are not a casual geocacher. You have no finds. You are what we call a muggle. Having an account with geocaching.com doesn't make you a cacher. I read an article on brain surgery once but I don't consider myself a brain surgeon.
  13. Thanks Pat, John is my second favorite cache among the group of Jahoadi and John.
  14. I don't know about ALL of 'em, Skillet ... but there are men in my geocaching world that certainly have caused me a problem, or two. Yes, I remember one of those moments SO well, too ... I was looking for a cache in a local cemetery, and I had 2 teenage boys with me. Mhmm. There was ALOT of cactus all around, and the boys thought the cache was near it. So, I asked myself ... "Self? Why on earth would a guy with an ID called 'grateful_dad' put a hide in the cactus??" So you see ... from the start, I doubted the boys conclusions about the location of the hide merely due to this ID. I mean, would someone grateful do that? A dad? I'm thinkin' "no way, guys!" Well, the boys insisted and I listened ... got closer ... and closer to the cactus. Ended up being too close. Next thing we all knew each of us had some degree of cactus imbedded into our skin. Ohhh, I'm reliving it NOW. Ouchie, ouchie!! Of the three of us, I didn't get it as bad as the boys did. Sure, I could blame myself ... but I'm trying to support your whining with a lil' of my own. But did you find the cache and get the smiley to go along with a few little cactus needles? Well, yes I did find the cache; I think it was a lil' skull if I remember correctly ... it happened to be on the other side of the large cactus area. I was a lil' traumatized when I found it, of course. Mhmm, no need to be goin' near (or thru) cactus. However, now I'm kinda uh ... cactus shy, if ya get my drift. AND there are more caches in that ol' cemetery just waiting for me; but I haven't been back! Maybe if you wouldn't mind sharing some of YOUR "cactus moments" with me ... well, it might help me get over it. Yeah, think of it as "encouragement whining" for the benefit of fellow cachers like me . I'm not the only geocacher that got kissed by cactus, am I? I don't have many cactus stories, as I tend to respect them, but that darned "noline" plant has poked me on numerous occassions. Don't know if Noline is the correct name but I am sure that I don't like it much. Not the cache hiders fault, just my inattentiveness.

  16. Woo Hoo! Congrats Eric and Hill! Congrats on the birth of another member in the geocaching community. It's always better when the new member is a handsome little guy and not some hideous troll. ( I shall not mention any names but trolls can please pipe in and identify themselves). Next to the mountain of a man that Eric is, the child looks like a little toy doll, but handsome none the less. Congrats.
  17. Given the fact that you have been a member for one week and found a grand total of 1 cache, I think you need to try and use the available resources and get a few more finds under your belt before you start re-creating the wheel.
  18. I want everyone to quit posting on this thread or that cute picture of John actually doing some yard work will leave the top of the page and we will all be deprived of looking at his smiling face.
  19. The guy never found a single cache in 6 plus minutes. Must not have been a power trail. Being a bit of a wimp myself, you would never find me anywhere near this trail but it was fun watching the brave guy. Thanks for sharing.
  20. I live only 1.17 miles from this cache and decided to try to find those missing keys but with a hiking stick, bitter resolve and 1 1/4 hrs. all I could do was come home smelling of that darned licorice plant. If the wife liked licorice then it would have been worthwhile but alas I have come up empty on two fronts. Most of the loose trash is now at ground zero but I think that the metal detector idea or more folks with rakes out there and we might eventually find them. If anyone else wants to try then I will join them.

  22. Congratulations to the Kwvers! who have just acquired a new geomobile. A tricked out 4 x 4 Jeep Liberty that was spotted at the Pine Creek Trailhead today. I'll bet this one will keep you from getting stuck again. Maybe you can take Jodi along to those sandy cache areas. Congrats.
  23. Congratulations CONGRATZ! I will be joining you shortly, my new baby boy is due is 2 weeks! I'm scared Sarge! I guess I should put a pic here also Wyatt. 9lbs 6oz, 22.5 inches long! Born 3/30/08 @ 1514hrs. He is a big boy! Congratulations!!! He's adorable!!! Congrats Josh! Great looking boy and I'm sure you're very proud. I hope you've created a geocaching account for him. Dosen't have to be a premium membership yet but he can just look for all the non-member caches out there until he turns 1 year old and then you can get him the Premium membership for his first birthday. Congratulations and may you have 7 or 8 more.
  24. I've already found it, so blow it up. Post a notification on this thread when the bomb squad gets there so we can all come over and watch. Tell them to wait till we all show up.
  25. Congratulations on your 1000th. Here's wishing many more thousands in the future.
