  1. Santa-wife got me a PN-40 and hid it in an ammo can in the backyard. Then I had to find it with my Legend Hcx(which is now hers). Of course it was raining and dark still, but at least I got the and not a
  2. As a member of the GBA here in california, he seems to pop up around this time every year to cause mischief. We are working on a puzzle cache of his now as a huge group. But it has been mentioned some things may be from out of the area.
  3. I know one of our local Geocacher/friend of Delorme also works at REi in the Outdoor school, and He and Delorme are doing demos at one in Fremont, CA. So I would check your local REi and maybe some other outdoor stores to see if they are coming. This friend is the one who I was able to "discover" Eartha from.
  4. I have a Nuvi 760 that I started out with. Found about 10 caches with it with info from the cache pages. Then I bought my handheld and it is far better to use. I do however have my Nuvi loaded up with GSAK and the pilotsnipes stuff for paperless. I usually use my handheld with my ipod for most, but my wife is now addicted and sometimes has my handheld with her. I then use my Nuvi set up with custom POI's and I have the cache page info right at my fingertips and It does okay. You can get to the satellite page on the nuvi not too terribly difficult and it will get you in a little closer. You definitely want to make sure you set it to pedestrian and off-road or it will only get you as far as the street.
  5. Team Delorme just posted a not on the one that I had discovered in San Jose, CA at our un-event for WorkerofWood. They released it into "a friend of Team Delorme's hands". So some are getting put into caches and others are making their way into the hands of key individuals (ie. REI outdoors training people). They may be showing up darn near anywhere. If there are any events coming up keep your eyes out.
  6. I did "discover this at WorkerofWoods 5000th cache in San Jose, CA last night. Wow had it in his hot hands and let us all take a nice look. Very beautiful design Chris.
  7. Discovered at an un-event for one of our local cachers who hit his 5000th last night. Very beautiful coin! Eartha coin by Team Delorme.Eartha
  8. I use my ipod for paperless. I am running a Mac and use MacCaching. I drag my pocket queries into the program and when i upload to my gps, it will sync to the ipod and put the cache pages into the note section of the ipod. Handy if your on the go and get a bug to grab a few.
  9. I use a Garmin Legend HcX with MacCaching software on my Mac. This unit is around $220-250 depending where you shop. I am very happy with it.
  10. The wife and I use a Garmin Legend HcX and our iPods. I also have my Gamin Nuvi 760 that I use for the hands free phone part in my car. This one loaded with GSAK and the POI loader and I have a thousand plus caches and info on them with me in the car at all times.
  11. Thanks Pilotsnipes! Finally got it working on my Nuvi 760. I usually use my Mac, but could not get it working on my parallels side. Set it all up on my kide PC and no problems. Got anything to load the info on my Ipod? I use my garmin Legend Hcx and my wife will be using my Nuvi sometimes.
  12. First off I use a Mac but have access to a PC too. I have been into caching only for a month now, but the wife is now addicted too. I use a eTrex Legend Hcx and MacCaching software with my ipod, but wife wife wants to get more involved as I always keep my Hcx with me. I have a Nuvi 760 and want to go paperless with it as well for my wife. Can't really afford a second handheld and she usually only does urban hunts anyways. What would I need software wise to make this happen? MacCaching does not work with the Nuvi's. I have Garmin POI Loader and MacSimpleGPS. She likes to have the pages with her as she is still new but the paper and ink are killing me. Thanks
  13. I shoped around a bit and talked to the other geocachers in my area. I shelled out the 250 and got the LegendHcx and it is wonderful. I started out with my Nuvi760 and went to the handheld which is the way to go.
  14. At first my wife was not interested, but went out with me and the kids a few times. Then she found one that I was about to give up on. She then wanted to find them before me just to show me up. Then finally just her and I went out and we went out hiking at the local park without the kids and same thing she WANTED to find them before me, now she has her own account and looks for them while I'm at work to try and catch up with me. Now she is hooked and loves going out on the hikes as well as the many urban ones by us. My two girls think that we're pirates and love looking for the treasure. I am a scuba diver but it is hard to leave the wife and kids all the time, so It's great to have something to get us out of the house that all of us now like to do. We've only been doing this for a few weeks now, but love going on the hunt.
  15. Thanks, only been doing this for a couple of weeks but I am hooked. Can't believe I missed that... Thanks again
  16. Can I use Geocaching.com / Groundspeak logos on my own homemade coins? If so where can I find the logos to download and use for printing? Thanks
  17. Maybe one of WorkerofWood's magical wands?? Guess you could talk to it as well
