  1. I had a similiar problem with my Garmin 60CSx. Tried to upload on all three Computers we have, none of them worked. Then one time when I tried to upload I closely read the Popup window and it told me to click to re-identify myself to Garmin/Groundspeak. I clicked and everthing started working again. Hope this helps.
  2. Look at the window, and read everthing you see. I had the same problem and did what the window ask, top of window was were I found my fix.
  3. That explains my problem too (DeLorme PN-40). But why isn't the "Send to GPS" button greyed out? A logged in member is all you have to be, I did it that way for several months. When I had this problem I had to click in the box that pops up to activate sometning at Garmin. Read the popup box closely.
  4. I don't think you have to be aPremium Member. I had a problem a while back with this same thing. The fix for me was to read the popup box because I had to turn something on at Garmin
  5. There are several in my area that fall into the "not there and haven't been for a long time". Have sent Emails but no action. Oh wel,l as they say "play the game as you wish and God will punish the thiefs"
  6. I have only been Geocaching and following the Forums since August 2008. I have not meet that many Cachers yet, but some of the best Hiders and Finders I have meet never visit the Forums. So I assume you can visit or not and still enjoy Geocaching. This post sound a little bit disjointed, but when in doubt I throw these words of wisdom out. "I know not what the truth may be, I tell it as was told to me"
  7. I think that a thread such as this is very productive, as it may give the whiners and complainers a chance to recognize their dysfunctional and ungrateful behavior and the concomitant chance to decide to grow up and become contributing members of society, or, at the least, it might shame some of the "askers" into either shutting up or becoming Premium members if they wish to see the PUC #13 listing page. Again, as noted many times before, I have NOTHING against non-paying "free" or regular members. What I do mind is if and when they ask or demand that I convert my PMOC caches to ordinary caches. This takes a tremendous amount of gall, nerve and moral depravity, in my book. Vinny & Sue Team; You folks are such a Hoot! BrrrMo
  8. Thanks mtn_man, I did mean Groundspeak. BrrrMo
  9. 432 Miles at Crater Of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas. The state Parks there all have a Cache that is placed and maintained by Park personnel. Neat idea. Edit spelling
  10. Garmin tells me that 2000 is not compatible and they are working on the problem. Two months ago it worked fine. I also get the same message on a XP and VISTA OS. Garmin test page says my GPS is connected and working fine but when I try to upload it tells me to get the latest uploads. Call me a DA but I need help and is anyone else having problems?
  11. The tree looks like what they call "An Indian Thong Tree". The Indians would tie saplings down to mark a trail.
  12. Sounds more like a permission issue to me. Either lack of or a communication problem with the staff. When the Cache was placed permission was obtained, and apparently no one informed the new Director that it was there.
  13. Check out this Cache (GCTDR9) and read the Logs. The Director must be a hard hearted person.
  14. LOL Yeah, that was something of an empty rant, however, geocaching.com is the purest form of monopoly. I know of NO other alternative sites such as this for geocaching enthusiasts. A little competition might do them good. Nothing requiring anyone to "switch over" but offer a 2nd site for posting coordinates, forums, etc. Nah - more trouble than it's worth. If there were more need, sure, but now that I've been "straightened out" about the "premium membership" misunderstanding, I'll leave it to some other, more industrious sole to set up the alternative site. B)tuaaly This is are alternate sites, and there is not many Cachers using them, and it is way harder to us than GS. See Topic just below yours.
  15. Have been following this thread, so I am going to add this. Revisited 3 Caches yesterday and none were anything great to talk about Swag wise. The 1 that made me most sad, was the one near a very nice small museum, that had a bottle top from a beer and a cloths pin. Am going to add items to this one because there are a lot of kids visiting the museum and Cache.
  16. Maybe the back button wont work when you are dropped and have to log in again. Maybe it is not my computer, it might just be a real problem with this website. I will resume tonight when I have more time. Don't be so quick to dismiss a problem with your PC or the ISP you are using. I used an ISP briefly in 2003 that was almost impossible to do anything with the Geocaching website even though other sites worked great. It turned out they were experimenting with some fancy memory caching server to help speed up requests over the web. Worked great on some sites but not this one as it is so dynamic. I knew it was the ISP because I had access to other ISPs that had the site running smoothly. Tested them side by side. You are describing a level of difficulties that seems well beyond what many of us are seeing. In the last 3 hours I have been creating a couple of new listings and viewing/commenting in several forums. In that period, I have seen at least a dozen times where there were significant (> a couple of minutes) delays in getting a response. It would seem that too many people, in too many countries are seeing these problems for it to be an ISP problem. Just goes to show you, they don't believe there is any trouble, or that it is PAST time for an upgrade. It is much easier to place blame elsewhere. It is also easier to try and trip up the poster and deflect the issue. It must be everything else but GP is now the theme! At the risk of starting a Flame War, Hobo, get up off it. I
  17. Shucks, I get a kick out of being FTSNL (First To Sign New Log)
  18. Plus you will be supporting Groundspeak for the service's they provide.
  19. Great Poll, interesting stats. I couldn't get PollDaddy to work so thanks for posting it.
  20. It seems the worst in the middle of the afternoon (Central Time). I have been in Telecommunications for thirty years and if you guys are still using T1, no wonder its slow. I don't believe you can run Groundspeak on T1's, to much traffic and way to slow. I would think you would be operating at fiber speeds.
  21. GPSr's are a lot like guns. Guns don't kill people, people kill people! GPSr's don't find caches, people find caches. The gun and the GPSR are only tools.
