Caches missing from Google map
Pat in Louisiana replied to Pat in Louisiana's topic in General geocaching topics
This one GC1CW1W and this one GC1DKA6 don't show up? -
some of my hides do not show up on Google maps. Has anyone else had this issue?

I received notice a cacher found one of my hide and when I went to their profile it shows 3 found. When I click on show all found it brings up a blank page? Is there a time lag from when you log a find and when it shows up in your profile? this is the profile I looked at Bebo2011

I think the iphone uses real time not saved data so it should have had the correct coordinates if they were updated. Sorry, This is only true if you have cell service at the cache location.

How to identify a geocacher?
Pat in Louisiana replied to malcesine's topic in General geocaching topics
I find each year I meet more and more. This year I meet at least one a month it seem like. I met some yesterday, Two ladies in a minivan with the kids in the back. Print outs in hand and GPSRs around their necks. Of course it didn't hurt to know they were looking for one of my caches I was checking on. They recognized me as a cached by my hat's logo! -
We were in Kansas last week and a new cache showed up on iphone. Thought it would be cool to get a FTF this far from home. Oh well it was muggled before the first find! A teacher had her class hide it and I imagine students being students told the wrong student about it and poof it was gone.

Hey all, after further discussions it turns out I'm mistaken as to the whole off set issue. What the organizer wants us to do is add a +/- number clue to our final coordinates on a card in the cache that will assist the cacher in finding the final cache of a state park challenge. I was way out in left field on his intended instructions. Sorry about all of this!

Well Whiteboy47 the basic idea behind all of these caches is that they are all going to be adopted by the Office of State Parks and maintained by the state as part of an effort to get another sector of the public visiting the historic sites. How about contacting the owners of the caches already in those locations and see if they are interested in cooperating with this project? We have looked at this but it would not bring anyone who has already found it back to the area.

I have work with our reviewer and he has always been open to see both side of the coin. He has published some of my caches that are only a few hundred feet away from each other but it is a 3 mile trek to get from one to the other due to the interstate highway between them. Then again he has not published some that were 520 feet apart as there was not a logical reason to approve them. Over all I would leave it up to his judgment and would explain what we were trying to do in the "note to reviewer" box.

I have been working with a group of cacher to establish a series of caches at state historic sites. Several of these have existing caches and are not a large enough area to stay within the "528' saturation" rule. It was suggested we post bogus coordinates with a correcting clue as to the actual location. Is this something the is acceptable? Or in common practice?

I never could keep a secret!

Sorry to confuse. The title was part of my question. In "your created routes" is there a way to delete routes that have no content or are of no use anymore?

Ok I found a work around. I gave myself a gift membership! It worked
