  1. Love the idea of getting people connected and pairing up single cachers who want to search with other people. I would hesitate on starting up calling it monthly. Maybe every other month? Maybe once a season? How would it affect events that are planned? Who decides where and when on what month? Just a few questions to ponder. We can continue to dialogue within the Yahoo Group site. South Florida Caching
  2. I would recommend you posting your request at the Florida site: NEFGA I know that one of the Florida cachers - Doc-Dean is traveling this weekend cross state - he might be able to help.
  3. Thanks to all who came and made the event so much fun. There are pictures posted on our Yahoo site and at the event page - which I will archive in a few days. South Florida Caching - Yahoo Meet, Greet & Eat Gallery
  4. I am glad to see you are planning on coming our way. We will just HAVE to plan an event in Miami for you now!
  5. Lots of theme caches. For the most part I like them. The cache contents are of a slightly higher quality since it has to meet a theme. Here are a few from my neck of the woods (South East Florida): Take a kid fishing The Zen of People who Love Feng Shui too much Happy Holiday Cache STICKERS Toys, Toys, Toys I GOT A LITTLE MUSIC CACHE Here's one in Orlando. Orlando is FULL of theme. Lots of Disney Theme'd caches! Celebrate Disney II
  6. You could also go through your logs, look at the people who found your cache and email them if they appear to live nearby. Since they have already found it - they may be willing to adopt it and maintain it.
  7. I actually found a letter box while searching for Celebrate Disney II in Orlando. The first time I went after the cache, we found the letterbox and signed it. A week later I was back and found the real cache easily. There is a letterbox near Happy Holiday Cache in Broward, Florida as well. Haven't found the letterbox - but I will be back soon to hunt for it.
  8. Contact the TB owner and ask their opinion. I have dropped TB's in local caches and then recovered them to correct mileage that was askew after someone incorrectly logged them. If the owner is interested in the miles - that's cool. I would definately post the story to the log of the TB either way. That is what I love the most about my TB's - seeing what people write about them.
  9. If your father is in Miami this coming weekend - he is more than welcome to join us for lunch at a local Miami pizza place - The Big Cheese. We are having a GeoEvent lunch. Meet, Greet & Eat on April 24th 2004
  10. Meet, Greet & Eat A Geo-get together in Miami! Come and join us for lunch at one of South Miami's best pizza places. We'll eat, talk, swap stories and maybe more! Saturday April 24 12:30 pm
  11. Saw this one while surfing through the regional posts. The website that is listed above is no longer in action. If you are still looking to connect with local cachers- I suggest you check out Northeast Florida Geocachers Association . That has become the temporary home for all Florida cachers. You can go directly to the forums to post your message.
  12. I haven't but it happened to one of my caches! Here's the log: Curious Dog walker is disapointed to find toys instead of cash!
  13. I'm so glad he wants to get into the fun! Let me know if we can be tour guides - Dudeface and I are some of the local cachers. You can find more local cachers at South Florida Caching Here are some caches I highly recommend: Norman's Cat Grove It's a short walk from a place where you can buy fresh fruit milk shakes and other local goodies. Tropical Treasures It highlights two parks in Miami Dade county just a few blocks apart. It is a multi cache - so it will take more than few minutes. Math Lake This highlights a beautiful park in Miami. It is a short walk from a parking area and it's a great area. These two are actually in Coral Gables - a historic city in Miami. They each are quick finds - with the hint it shouldn't take long at all. They are in small parks so there isn't a chance you could wander off in the woods and get lost. They each take you to a historic and beautiful landmark. Something more near the Biltmore Lighthouse Folly Palmetto Bay Duck Walk Takes you to a walking park in the south part of Miami. Nice because the find is a stocked ammo can! Deering Cache This cache in part of the Deering Estate. It takes you down a walking path and you are greeted by a unique creation and a little history lesson. That was Zen, This is Now This one is also in the south part of Miami. It is a great nature preserve and park - wonderful scenery and trees. A definate must! The last two I have to include because they belong to Dudeface and I. This is our first cache - treat because you will be guaranteed to find a travel bug: GeoBear's Travel Bug Party Depot This one is pretty close and it is a stealth cache. It's hidden in the open -you have to be creative in how you look for it: In the Shadow of Sunset Let us know if there is anything else we can do!
  14. Dudeface and I have 103 finds and a combined 26 hides (We do all our hides together)
  15. Just wanna drop a note saying that the new page ROCKS! I love the addition of the filter find. Thanks!
  16. Doubled our members to 24 and still going! Get the word out!
  17. I would love to see some type of co-ownership happen. Dudeface and I co-own every cache we place, but we are each individual cachers - so we don't have a team name. Yes, yes, yes please - add this feature!
  18. I'm back in. Thanks for the fast fix!

  21. Haven't personally found this one - but I think it is hysterical! Cindy (The CinderBlock)
  22. Try finding out if there is a Geocaching organization in your state or in any of the states you will be traveling through. Many organization websites have "rest stop" cache lists for travelers. You can find this out by searching in that state by bring up the state you are interested in on the Geocaching Main Page or by going through the regional forums. You can see Florida's rest stop caches here: NEFGA Forums
  23. I don't deserve it, but my boyfriend and caching partner in crime probably does! Dudeface got me into the addiction and has consistently recruited other people in as well. Together we have placed 26 caches in 3 months in our area and found just about all existing caches in a 30 mile radius. Dudeface rocks because he's all about making it better for others. He trades up, stocks caches, scouts out new locations, etc. Everytime we go on a hiking cache, I see him pick up a stick to carry along with us. He even swats the spider webs out of the way and picks them out of my hair when I'm not looking where I'm going. So yeah, Dudeface is cool enough to get one!
