  1. You don't have to outrun the bear, you just have to outrun your caching partner.
  2. Later this year I'll be driving from Orlando to Fort Myers with plenty of time to kill on the drive. I plan to do some caching along the way. Clearly I can pick and hunt using the website, but I figured I'd ask here if the locals had any "must see" caches (or bookmark lists) that you'd think fell along that route. Again, I have time to kill on this drive, so if it's a bit out of the way but worth a drive let me know.
  3. I'll watch a cache that has my TB in it, so I can see if someone does something like log an entry saying "Noticed TB was missing."
  4. Some times a few bad apples can ruin a whole event. I say this not from any geocaching events I've attended but other times where I've gotten together IRL with people I supposedly have something in common with but have never met . If the crabapples at the events are ruining your fun, skip the events. It cuts out a potential avenue of good times but also eliminates some stress.... Or, just come to peace with the idea that some people operate on one frequency and you operate on another, and you'll never see eye to eye.
  5. I know there are some on slideshare but slideshare is down for maintenance right now so I can't send you any URLs. A google search on slideshare geocaching should get you some great places to start. In the meantime, I stumbled across this blog which has some sidebar links to some presentations and other getting-started info. http://geocaching.coollibrarian.com/
  6. Well, if the attribute is important enough you can include it in your PQ, but that isn't helpful if you want to have a single database of nearby caches and filter it "on the fly" as it were.
  7. My family is just getting into geocaching, but I get the feeling we'll be involved for a long time, if for no other reason than that it provides a reason to get "out there," something we all need a reminder to do once in a while. I wanted to offer a quick Thank You to all cache hiders who go through the trouble of setting the Attributes on their caches. We have a new baby, and knowing in advance if a cache is stroller-friendly makes it so much easier to pick out the caches we can hit during a family outing. I can only imagine those who have other accessibility issues feel the same way. Next step, getting a baby carrier for more aggressive caching ... but for now, my "Easy Access" PQ will have to suffice.
