  1. I happened to run across this website this past weekend, so I did a few test logs on caches that I own (and deleted the logs later). But once you enter the caches you want to log by either the CG# or from a file, another screen will appear with logging space for each cache - and here you can change it to a note or DNF. I haven't tried it yet, but supposedly you can download caches into this program directly from cachemate. This looks to be a good way to log cache runs quickly and easily.
  2. Currently I cache with a laptop instead of a PDA. Before I leave to go caching I will download the caches I want to look for into GSAK. I can access each page offline, and if I really get stuck or want to look up another cache I have wireless capabilities and some hotel parking lots make for great access points.
  3. While in Charlotte, try Galaxy Cache... it's in the downtown area.

  5. IMO, I think cemetery caches are quite interesting and I have been able to see several old and historic cemeteries in my area that I would not have seen otherwise. I placed a cache last year in an old episcopal church cemetary ( A Historic Church ) that dates back to the late 1700's and I didnt know before placing the cache that the church was used during both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars as a field hospital for troops. Another interesting cache comes to mind as well... one was part of a multi that led you to an unusual headstone... a marble elephant! If I only knew the story behind that one
  6. Oh my! I know exactly what you mean. I think my GPSr fell out of my truck about a month ago... I've been going crazy and having withdrawals ever since. My friends have all laughed at me when I said I lost the GPSr... kind of funny actually . Hopefully uncle sam will buy me a new one next week with his yearly present - lol. Good thing I don't need one to lurk in the forums -
  7. Way to go Jack! I just hope you are able to survive next weekend. Oh... BTW I'll be in the area just in case you need a medic!
  8. Greetings from NC! Woooo Hooo! Im up to 5 posts now... That's all... 'nuff said
  9. mmmmmmm... I bet those biscuits will be yummy after a week or two
  10. I agree with the others... #1, I like looking back at some of my screw ups w/ a DNF... some are quite humorous.
  11. Here is an interesting email that I received from a fellow friend/geocacher last year regarding one of my caches... Down by the River I have since added the "what is geocaching" letter Doug, Talked with a Chesterfield dentist last night. He is a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. At a meeting of that organization, a preacher was telling them how he had located bullets, etc. with a metal detector at a creek near Riverside park. He said that he had found the strangest thing...a medicine bottle with unusual items hidden in a hollow tree in the park. The man became so concerned about it that he notified the Cheraw Police. They didn't know what to make of it either. This was last week. The dentist explained that it was a geocache. The man who found it was Allen ***. I believe that he has some connection with the Maranatha Church. Thought you would find this interesting. You may have to introduce some of the police officers to geocaching. Happy Hunting, (Ken220) Asst. Chief Chesterfield Fire Dept.
  12. here are 3 that come to mind... If it returns, you should check out Carolina Coastal Challenge in Wilmington. (GC60C9) It's a fun cache but its currently on the DL. In Hickory, I enjoyed Cache Eater (a.k.a.) I love Micro's (CGK500), although afterwards you might not like Micros's - LOL! In Charlotte, Galaxy Cache (GCD506) I won't ruin the experience, but the location at the cache is nice!
