  1. There have been several cachers from Germany virtually logging lab caches and asking for codes. A few FTF's were from Germany even though the labs were in Texas. And no they were not caching in Texas. Post event they are emailing for codes. Ach du lieber!
  2. I have heard that a lot of the WImpy Kid geocoins had the wrong zip code on them and ended up in other states and then were eventually rerouted to the correct place.

    No emails

I am not receiving any emails when someone logs my cache. Is this a premium member feature only?
  4. I am not receiving any email to my yahoo account. When people find my caches I no longer receive a notification. I also sent 2 messages to myself and didn't get them.
  5. I did like these . . . and although some of them lasted two years, they sure don't hold a charge now. I have at least six pairs of these. Now, a few of those pairs don't work at all and some others lose their charge in as little as a few days . . . Perhaps if I had not used the 15-minute Energizer charger that came with the first four I got and had used a slower charger they would have lasted longer . . . I'm using the Ray-o-Vac Hybrids now and they are great! I use the sanyo loop batteries. They seem to last quite a long time.
  6. I noticed the number of caches hidden by a friend seems to have the wrong number. It appears to be too low.
  7. How many reviewers are there for the US?
  8. I would email YOUR approver and ask whether your cache would be approved. The bottomline is what gets approved is up to your reviewer.
  9. I nominate Geek-Qualizer. (GQ). He is the creator and administrator of the Houston Geocaching Society Organization in Houston. It is a great fourm that I use daily. He has added features that make it easy to use and he welcomes all members. In addition, he welcomes all new cachers to the hobby. He frequently organizes impromptu groups or new cachers to cache together. He has put out some outstanding caches. I remember going to one of my first outdoor events and he went out of his way to offer me one of his portable chairs to sit in. He was a local guide during a geo-teaming event. He was our technical guru at a large Texas Challenge event. He is a great promoter of the hobby.
  10. I found a brand new benchmark yesterday. It was still a bright shiny copper color. Is there anyway to enter it into the database?
  11. I would call garmin again about the rubber buttons. I called them and they issue me a RMA number and sent the rubber cover and some tape to waterproof the unit. My unit was way out of warranty.
  12. I would buy at least 10.
  13. When I try to decrypt a say hint I just get a page that says Decrypt.
  14. The cache shows up in the latest caches but I can not see the listing because it says it has not been approved. Is this just a problem with the page hasn't moved to the server yet?
  15. I bought a used factory Garmin mount. It is great. It really sticks to the windshield as it has a lever to increase the suction. I use it to get close to the cache and then do the quick dismount. Takes a bit of learn how to mount and dismount from the holder but a really great accessory for hands free operation.
  16. I tried to contact Sunrise via the link and I got an undeliverable email message.
  17. I just ordered some CITO shirts and it put my state as ND not Texas which I entered. The Shipping Info is the United States. I selected Billing info same as shipping info and the country changed to American Samoa. No telling if I get anything.
  18. I have four flashlights. 1. For bright light in very dark areas I have a 12V large flashlight about $7 including the battery. 2. MiniMag Light Nice all around 3. LED headlight - Don't really use this much. $15 4. AutoLite LED seat belt light $7 has a button to switch between 2 LED's and 4 LED's. 3 AAA batteries.
  19. I would rather have a tool to automatically build a nice cache page.
  20. I have a cache that requires you to walk like an Egyptian to the cache. But since I can not watch the cache 24 hours a day I put people on the honor system.
  21. I received my Vista from OfficeMax the other day. It really has alot of features that I will have to learn to use. The direction arrow seems steadier than the yellow eTrex, but they both seem to get you to the same place.
  22. So far I have come across 4 poisonous snakes in 460 caches, about 1%. One was a tiny coral snake who was just curious. Three were water mocassins. One I almost stepped on. The other two were guarding were along a walking path. I always poke the sweep the ground in front of me with a hiking stick. I have a grabber to pick up caches in holes or around tree trunks.
  23. I carry a metal hikying stick and a trigger grabber when I cache. I use the grabber to pick up a cache rther than my hand especially when the cache is in a hole. The hking stick has a sharp point at the end. It is better that a wooden stick and you can jab it into the ground and go up and down hills wil ease.
