  1. I was coming to report exactly that - View Bug history is only appearing when bugs aer actually present in the cache. It's still possible to get the information, by going to the Bug Advanced search page, and entering the waypoint number, but that's a minor pain... Timothy

    British Maps

OK, at the time I had posted that I didn't know about the you guys had already found a solution Timothy
  3. Thanks, that's interesting. I forgot about the different data I will have to remember all that when I next come to England and want to do a few caches. Timothy
  4. Just curious - as an expat Brit living in the US, I decided to look up a few caches near my parents. I went to "map it" and found there was no map! I uploaded the waypoint to my eTrex, changed the co-ordinate system to "British Grid" and it gave me a two letter + 10 digit OS reference (accurate to 1 metre). I went to the OS website: http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/getamap/ and typed in the reference, and there it was, just as described in the Waypoint info. Do Brits use the OS maps like this? Do you tend to convert hddd:mm.mmm' style to Ordance Survey style? Or what do you do? Timothy

    British Maps

As an expat Brit in the US, I thought it might be interesting to look at the British side of things. I noticed that when I click on "map it" for a British waypoint, there's no map. I did do something interesting though. I downloaded the Waypoint into my eTrex, changed the Setup info from hddd:mm.mmm' to "British Grid", which gave me 2 letters and 2 lots of 5 digits. From my school days that seemed to be an Ordnance Survey map reference. The UK is divided up into large sections that the letters refer to. Then the first 5 digits are the eastings, and the second five are northings. Because there are 5 digits that's accurate to within 1 metre. I went to http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/getamap/ and typed in those coordinates, and it certainly went to the right place according to the description given. Could you guys not come to an agreement with OS to be able to convert and link those maps in to the GC website? Timothy
  6. LA-cons do a number of small water proof containers that would be ideal. Timothy

    Log Order

In the My Cache Page, and the page shown with "Traditional Caches by Username" when looking at other people's finds, the finds for the same day are listed in order that the logs were made, even though it's most recent date first. for example: Jan 2: find 1 Jan 2: find 2 Jan 2: find 3 Dec 31: find A Dec 31: find B That seems illogical to me... surely it should be completely sorted by most recently logged first. ANd yes, I made sure I logged them in the order I did them... Timothy
  8. Timotab here. Brit, now living in St Louis, MO. I'm waiting for my Garmin eTrex to arrive, and then my wife and I will be geocaching as a way to get some much needed exercise. Timothy
