  1. A tradition my husband and I started that has continued is when we are on vacation is to get an ornament for our tree, something that sums up the place or places that we have been to that year. My daughter loves this and every year she talks about things on the trips we have taken. Of course the ones that she didn't go to (prechildren) she just leaves for us. This year I am also getting an ornament to represent geocaching. We started in Sept and are trying to reach 100 before the end of the year. Hopefully activities and weather will work out. I found a cache near us for the 100th. It is a Christmas ornament theme, to exchange. If that doesn't work out I was thinking of either a bison micro with something representative. Karen
  2. I got my Boomerang coin today from an order on ebay. Most of the coins I see are so nice it makes me want every one. Karen
  3. When I was in elementary school I started looking up a different country custom for celebrating Christmas every year. Each year I would do a little mini show and tell about their customs and food. I did this until I graduated high school. Now that my daughter is about the same age I was when I started, she and I looking up a country for her to learn about its customs. I am tieing it in with their heritage theme at school and she seems to enjoy it. I am hoping I can keep this going every year. Karen
  4. I requested one, keeping my fingers crossed for the Kansas City area. Hope its not too late. Karen
  5. Nice coin, couldn't resist. If it gets here in time it will be in a stocking, if not I am going to have to come up with something about why I had to have it. Isn't there a saying when holiday shopping "one for you, two for me". Well this one and bewitched would be my two. Now I have something to look for in the mail. Maybe I'll even be motivated to get the mail on the cold wet weather days. I am a newbie and can see this getting the best of my control.
  6. We recently got into this sport as well, luckily we used our spare coin jar to buy one. Know it doesn't help you right now, but if you start throwing loose change in a jar it adds up quickly. Our local city actually has a loan out program so we were able to get try it before we bought one and were hooked. Also some places pay you for recycling HP toner cartridges, $2-3 a cartridge. Check out Letterbox.org to find a intro to get you started until you are able to figure the GPS unit out. Good luck, its a great family activity. Karen
  7. We almost got the E trex H, after researching the cable we upgraded to the E Trex Venture HC which came with the cable for less than buying the cable for the H. Check Amazon, we bought ours recently and it was about $128.00 with free shipping. Good luck Karen
