  1. It's in a sealed outer so you will have to buy it to read it. Actually, being the FTF on it we know that there is a good spoiler in the mag. Despite the DNF, we are sure that it is still there. The deputy editor (who wrote the article) says that more are planned in other parts of the country at a later date. I forgot to look for it anyhow. But i did find 3 caches on the way home. I will purchase a copy for a read tomorrow...i think i'm worth it.
  2. I have bought this book, but i learnt more from this site, just reading posts. Most of the book is about navigation and GPSr use. Get it from a library if you really want to read it.
  3. Okey Dokey... Will have a flick through when i'm in WH Smiths tomorrow. Darn those 35mm Canisters.
  4. Is it in the December issue or January issue...??
  5. I have also looked for these container's. There is a cache near me that is one of these, its in a trolley Bay under cover. I looked at the Manufacturers website a short while ago and it appears that they no longer make them. All i can suggest is an independent corner shop. If you find any, can you get me one..??
  6. Ah... Moses. The first man to ride a motorcycle. His triumph was heard throughout the mountains.

  12. Hello ForestFerret, i have not been caching long, but i got a Garmin eTrex Venture HC from Amazon for £100.00 I have had excellent results as i only use it for Caching, so dont need it for mountains, boating etc.... It is one of those recommended by Garmin for caching as it has a Geo-Cache function, which is basically a graphic for when you have found a geocache. Found 2 today in fact. All the best.
  13. Thanks for that... every little helps.

  21. The Book Was Called Masquerade. Masquerade was a ground-breaking book. Arguably the defining book of the genre of armchair treasure hunts. Written and richly illustrated by illustrator and craftsman Kit Williams and published in September 1979 by Jonathan Cape, it has itself spawned a number of articles and books on the Masquerade phenomenon. Masquerade tells the story of the Moon falling in love with the Sun, and how he calls on the help of a hare called Jack to deliver a fabulous jewel to his true love as a token of his affection. Hidden within the charming story is a master riddle, which when solved directs the reader to the exact location of a real 22 carat gold hare buried somewhere in the British Isles. The hunt lasted for 2 years before the golden hare was unearthed on 24 February 1982, by Ken Thomas (real name Dugald Thompson), below a stone cross in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. However Thompson had not solved the riddle fully and discovered the location through dubious activities involving extra clues provided by Williams' former girlfriend and persistence. The puzzle was solved, as intended, at around the same time by physics teachers Mike Barker and John Rousseau from Manchester. Here is a Link to the website i just quoted from..... http://www.treasureclub.net/publichunts/ma...rade/index.html
  22. nobody is fooled. they give you a wide berth because you look like a lunatic, talking into a GPSr. Ah... Point taken.
  23. Seacarrot, all you gotta say is "my kid lost his toy/ball/video game/whatever and I'm looking for it. Works whether or not you have kids, since they don't know if you do or not. I've never been questioned, but if I ever am that's gonna be my response. Cheers for that, i also read some good advice today that said to use your GPS as a pretend phone, people dont like to interupt you. I tried it out and it actually works.!!
  24. Hello all and thanks for the welcome... I found out about Geo-caching when i came across a tupperware box out in the open where i work, after a root inside, and a look at the website i replaced the box in the bush's and joined up. Been unsuccessful without the aid if a GPS, and coincidentally my newly purchased one arrived today. I have also started reading Geo Caching for Dummies for more inspiration and what the correct etiquette was. I have also started a small collection of 'rewards' for putting caches, hope to get out his weekend on my first serious hunt. There are loads of caches around where i live and work. Hope to get lots of advice and inspiration from you all.
