  1. Wow thankfully you have an iFinder I was beggining to think I was the only one and had bought some obscure gps. There is an iFinder group on Yahoo by the way. I am totally new to this whole thing and so far I am happy with the iFinder, it has taken a bit to figure out how to enter a way point and navigate to it. I guess it is just you and I that use the Ifinder. I have the map pack 6 now and use it daily. My original Ifinder was stolen. When I bought it, I updated the firmware and it seemed to work poorly after that, and then there was always a disclaimer that popped up upon "turn on" that I had to exit out of. I did not update the new unit I purchased and think it locks on better and no disclaimer. Once you update firmware you cannot go back. XMIT
  2. I have a Lowrance I-finder. I am new (this month) to geocache and bought this unit out of desperation (boating trip at caddo lake, last sept.). Got it for 150.00 and have come to like the unit allot. has mem. card, and basic map. The detailed mapping software is and additional 150.00 for detailed maps of USA. This is not a popular GPSr. I probubly would not of bought it if I researched here 1st. But I am happy with my decision. XMIT
  3. I think the best suggestion for me on this subject was by EraSeek. Going to find a know set of coords (BM) and camp on it till I am satisfied. All of your suggestions and replies were helpful. Thank You, XMIT
  4. Hi All, Still learning gps and how it works. I am currently using an Ifinder. I bought this unit for boating and work. Then I discovered Geocaching. Fun Fun. Now I am wondering how my Ifinder compares to other units accuracy. My EPE on a clear day in Texas (after noon), with no foilage attenuation, is at best 34' EPE. In foilage (w/o leaves now) it is around 100'+. I was just curious what other units EPE is under simular conditions. I wonder if EPE is really the bottom line on how accurate my GPS is, being that it is an estimated figure. List your EPE if you wish. Thanks and happy holidays, XMIT
  5. Hi, Looking for the firmware Ver. 1.2.1 for the Lowrance Ifinder. Seems that it was receiving better with older ver. . I updated to 1.6 and think I like 1.2.1 better. Did'nt think of saving last version. Thanks
  6. Hi, This is my 1st posting, I just discovered geocashing. I have a Lowrance Ifinder. I have yet to use it for Geocaching, but will go out today and try it! I have used my ifinder for about 3 months now. Mostly use it for finding addresses and work sites. Have had great luck using it in that respect. I cant really compare it to any other new units. Only used a magellen gpx/12 (?). If there is more computor interface info out there please post. Things I like: Detailed Mapping software (paid 100.00 for CD pack) Search for address and street locations/stores, etc. Can get Magnetic or TN bearings Cost Waypoint can be set using average readings over time Easy to use Display is good Dislike: Have not figured out an easy way to import other waypoint lists and routes. Have yet to find a program to interface w/unit for adding/editing routes and way points with out taking card out. Still working on that. Good Luck, Paul
