  1. Wow.I'm amazed by the responses from those in the USA. You lot might want to work on your appearances to the rest of the world. .. Just forget about any change, I'm sure the hassle of another *option* or some sort of consistency would confuse you lot.
  2. I'm wondering what it would take to have a new attribute available? We have them for poisonous plants and snakes however I'm wondering if it would be useful to have one for bees just to cater for those people who are allergic to them?
  3. ShonkyLogic made a complete set of Australian maps available and they work well on the Garmin Legend. Shonkymaps by Shonkylogic
  4. C'Mon! Anyone? It's the highest peak in California / 48 States.
  5. Sometime around June 24th or 25th I'm looking at doing the day-hike up Mt. Whitney. At the summit is GC75C3. Anyone interested in coming along?
  6. If there are cachers who live near Osgoode can you PM me? Theres a TB that is on it's way back to home in Ontario and needs help getting into a cache near Osgoode. After 4 1/2 years and 42,000 miles he's nearly made it home!

Yeah, At least they don't have to hold their GPSr's upside down to make them work when they go caching. The yanks can probably just walk around looking down at their screens without having to hold them above their heads looking at the upside down screen. BTW I've heard Garmin are bringing out a model with the screen on the back so you can just flip it upside down and just look at the screen when caching in Australia. They are also going to fix up the hunting guide to deal with the sun rising in the west which is about time if you ask me.
  8. Hopefully 3 TB's appeared in the cache??
  9. Any suitable caches for depositing a TB on it's way from Australia (it got lost looking for snow and mountains) to Canada? Looking for regular size that could be found without GPS but with Google Earth and rough description in Fort Collins area in February? i.e person transporting TB won't have GPS.
  10. Somehow Zytheran got left off the Australian team.. If there's a place were ready to fill it with TB.
  11. Final guess from teh Oz discussion forum was the signal was being generated by a Japanese bird using the same frequency for *their* version of WAAS.
  12. Yes clever people who know something about WAAS, we all know it can't work over here in Oz. I would be suprised if anyone in Oz has WAAS left on if it can be turned off. It's a non-feature to us. ...HOWEVER, enough people are now reporting that their GPS units are behaving differently from what they used to and those who happen to have WAAS turned on are now seeing their WAAS indicators lighting up and differential coerrections being shown. Yes we know its impossible but just bear with us for a while until we have a rational reason for why different GPS units in many different places, seperated by thousands of kilometres are now behaving differently when no users have been taking any action to make them do different things. Some input from Garmin and/or Magnellan techies would be appreciated as to what sort of signal and sequence of events is needed for these various GPS's to show that this 'impossible to work is Australia' system is now 'working'. We all assume it (or other similiar systems) still isn't enabled but would to know why our GPS apparently receivers think it is. So the questions are: Q1 What makes a GPS receiver show WAAS?(tech explanation please) Q2 Why are they doing it now and not in the previous months/years?
  13. Whoever had the really dumb idea of adding something (meesage about disabled PQ's) to an email that users already think they know what is in it (i.e. nothing useful) but has attachments they will semi-automatically strip off needs to brush up on Human Factors 101. Lesson 1: Don't assume that if you keep on doing something one way for weeks/months/years and then make a slight change that humans will notice. Humans will see what they expect to see based on previous experience. Case in point, next time send a different looking email to all premium members letting them know that changes are occuring in the PQ system. Don't bury it inside an email that is rarely previewed and in most cases never opened. We don't all use IE with full preview mode turned on. You didn't even make the font red and/or bigger to try to catch people attention within the email!
  14. For the Aussie's I'd put down Team Baggy Greens. I'll even buy him the TB if he hasn't got a spare. I'm pretty sure he hasn't seen this posting but I'd bet he'd be in it with bells on his toes given half a chance. With him on our side the Ashes are ours already. MiniZyth2 will also be in it.(Part of the Zytheran team)
