  1. ANY time you connect your Garmin GPSr to a phone or tablet, you risk corrupting the file system on the GPSr and turning it into a door stop. These very forums, and many others, are full of examples of this happening....
  2. The Explore app doesn't have a clue about what a geocache is.... Don't get me started on that dumpster fire. Stay away from Explore.
  3. Is the 'deleted' GPX file still present on the device after a reboot?
  4. My bet is the OP is using a MAC and has not emptied the trash....... Classic issue.
  5. Buy an older less capable model if that is the experience you desire. They are readily available from many online auction sites for pennies on the dollar!
  6. I was always under the impression these devices reserved the timing signal from on of the in-view satellites for this very purpose. They don't need an atomic clock in the GPSr when they can just borrow it from one of the satellites overhead! Apparently, Garmin Software and Hardware Engineers disagree with you!
  7. This has been hashed out here and in other forums more times than I care to count. There are links in this same thread with the information you seek. Galileo is substantially more precise than GPS, and Garmin GPSr that use Galileo satellites are capable of calculating a position using the dd mm.mmmm format. Also, please do not confuse Precision with Accuracy.
  8. If you are happy with it, there are several nice looking units available on ebay! Just replace same for same!
  9. Likely you are not keeping the network link open long enough to load all the data. The 66s/st is running as efficiently as possible using 2 'AA' batteries, unlike your smartphone. Please see GPSrChive > GPSMAP 66 > Common Issues > Feature Request 9 I keep my Bluetooth network connection active for the majority of the time I am geocaching so that any and all data can be loaded.
  10. OK, I can get geocaches near me to load just fine, but when I pan the map to that location just north if Munich, I can not get anything to load.... So some sort of server issue, Garmin or Groundspeak, or Both!
  11. This may be a server side issue with Groundspeak....
  12. Please see GPSrChive for detailed explanations of how to use the Geocaching and other features of your Garmin GPSr.
  13. Enable the 'Show All' filter in the Geocaching Setup Menu.
  14. There you go confusing accuracy and precision. The fourth digit is not about accuracy, it is all about precision.
  15. That's how we always did it with those older devices... had a clipboard with printed info that was needed for that days Caching run, and a pen for notes and cache logs. Coordinates were always entered manually for each geocache.
  16. I like your optimism. Of course, most (if not all) Garmin products are made in Taiwan, which is under increased threat of annexation from China in recent years.
  17. RoadTrip was long ago discontinued, but I found a download link from the WayBackMachine.
  18. Please visit GPSrChive > GPSMAP 66sr and GPSrChive > How To... > Geocaching for tons of great info explaining how all the features of your Garmin GPSMAP 66sr work!
  19. I just checked GPSrChive and can see that you will need Garmin RoadTrip to transfer data to the GPSMap 60c using a MAC.
  20. You will need to use MapSource for that device, BaseCamp and Garmin Express are for newer generation devices. My memory suggests there was a dedicated MAC software for these devices, but I am unable to remember the name at the moment. Software updates will be performed by Garmin WebUpdater. The 60c is not a mass storage device, so you will not see or have direct access to internal file structure.
  21. None of those models were precise enough to support the fourth digit like your new 64 is!
  22. How do rain or sun make the fourth digit after the decimal an issue?
  23. The Oregon 7x0 geocaching page at GPSrChive has many suggestions to resolve your issues.... You will want to enable the 'Show All' geocache filter and check your Map Page geocache zoom settings.
