  1. yea, i suppose it gets bad, but i promise it gets better. i've looked for a local cache, right beside where my mom has been working since i was a kid, about 6 times and cant find it. and then people log it saying "i dont unerstand the dnf's, this was a quick find!" Oh you better believe im not happy, but hopefully my new gps will help!
  2. I wasn't planning on it right now, but if someone really wanted some, I guess we could work something out. I'm not prepared to mass produce them in a short time period. Ahh, i dont blame you, but i think they would be cool presents for my aunts, who got me geocaching to begin with!
  3. love them! will you be selling them at all?
  4. Haha my mother is thinking something along the lines of what you are right now. But i was bipolar AND had ADHD, and i stayed on the Concerta but i got off my bipolar, mean-as-a-snake meds in the middle of the first semester. And i graduated as a junior. Whooop whoop! I didnt think i'd be able to do it either, but in the end i pulled through, even though i went through the goth stage too, but my mom wouldnt walk through ANYWHERE with me if i was wearing Tripp pants.
  5. Reliable company, and only $460, and no charge for ground shipping. i just bought my Colorado 300 from here, and i cant wait to get it! http://www.preferredphoto.com/viewproduct.aspx?id=9943216
  6. Okay, per the usual, let me give you a life story before I get to the question, ha ha. I graduated this year as a junior, and my parents gave me $300 plus I had money from other family members to buy my very own GPS, instead of having to borrow my mom's all the time. I have been looking for a Magellan, but it seems that they went downhill since my mom bought her's three years ago. So I did more research, and came about the Garmin Colorado 300. Two of my aunts, who initially introduced me to geocaching, both have Garmins, but I didn't like the buttons on the side, so the Colorado is perfect. So, to the question... What kinds of maps will my GPS have loaded when it arrives? I bought it brand new, factory sealed with no upgrades. (Only $350, no charge for shipping, WOOT!) I do a lot of traveling (and get a lot of speeding tickets, oops?) so I want to have a good knowledge of the local roads in SC/NC. Will these be on there, or what program will I need to have them. How much will it be costing me? Thanks so much, I don't know how I'd live without these forums.
  7. Do you have any pictures, and what exactly is the firmware?\ EDIT: Never mind, I just purchased a new one for a little less than what you were offering. Still a great product!
  8. I began geocaching in 2003 but haven't been devoted since then. Recently, my mother told my boyfriend about the sport, and since he is into all kinds of outdoor activities, he immediately wanted to go. I took him to one, and he was hooked. Now, as I have talked to all of my friends about it, the hobby that I only went with my mom to do has turned into one where I always have a geopartner! Right now, I am using my mother's Magellan, but we bought it in 2004 when she started caching, so it is almost to the point of out-of-date. It has a moderately short battery life, and it gets jumpy with even moderate tree cover. I will graduate high school on June 6th as a graduating junior, but more college credit hours than most seniors. I've decided that the money I get for presents will be put towards my own GPS. Most of my friends will still be in high school next year, and geocaching brings us together, so I can't think of a better option for spending the money. I've been doing a good bit of research on them lately, so I am a lot more educated about them, and how to use them efficiently. So now that I've given you the life story, here is what I'm looking for. I want a Magellan of some kind. I haven't seen many complaints on them at all, and we haven't had any problems with ours yet. I don't care whether it is new or slightly used, but anything over about six months to a year is out. It needs to be WAAS-enabled. I don't think any Magellan's have the buttons on the side, but I want the buttons on the top no matter what. I want it to be water-proof and not easily broken, because I do have a bad habit of dropping things. I don't care whether or not it has maps preloaded, but it needs to be capable of handling such maps. I'm looking for two kinds of responses to this post: those from people who have a recommendation for a GPS that is close this description and think it would fit my needs, and those who are selling a GPS that would fit my needs. I'm not looking for expensive, just good quality!
