  1. I suppose I shall start with these two pictures taken at the start of September on top of Buachaille Etive Mor
  2. I suspect like most people, when they get a log notification they click on the short code within the email to see the log online. Quite often when clicking on the link for the log I keep getting a 404 error stating that the Object has been moved. I'm really puzzled to why this keeps happening as when you click the link or even refresh the page it goes to the correct page showing the log, and it has the exact same web address. Here is an example of what is displayed - Then after clicking the 'here' link or refreshing the page, this is an example of what you end up with. Take note the displayed web address is identical - Now the sharp eyed amongst you will say that I am using Chrome and should try another browser, but this happens on Chrome, IE, Firefox and my mobile phone browser. So is anyone else having the same issue? Please ignore the particular log, it is just being used as an example.
  3. I'm afraid not, it's a feature on the camera and that is how I wanted the picture to look when I took it. No editing has been done to the picture.
  4. When I was setting up Arthur's Seat Earthcache, I genuinely thought that it was mediocre and probably wouldn't get many visits. But I liked it and kept it. Out of my caches it most definitely has the most favourite points and out of the UK Earthcaches it has currently nearly double the amount of favourite points of any other UK Earthcache. So for me that is an achievement (albeit not an important one) so it is my favourite cache that I own.
  5. My this had dropped to page two, so thought I would bump it to see if there are any more entries before the end of the month.
  6. A good point well made, but the agreed, correct phrase is 'Annual UK Mega' - The only thing which makes a Mega official is Groundspeak listing it as one Oh Please!! Do we really have to be pedantic over what was precisely written? I'm sure most people knew what I meant. Edit to add, that it is the 'Official Annual UK Mega' as those that decide have already done so.
  7. There are two separate questions from Mollyjack and MartyBartFast. Graculus recommended one be passed to GSP to answer due to the seriousness of the question being posed and the sensitivity of the topic. Castagnari answered the second which is much more general. As a reviewer I really don't want to get drawn into a discussion about child protection. This is way outside our pay grade and needs to be resolved by GSP who own and manage the site as the ultimate responsibility lies with them. My apologies, I missed the distinction between the two different answers. The above has also answered my query, so thank you. I can fully understand your concerns. However, there is so much nastiness in the Geocaching community that I personally don't blame reviewers for keeping anonymity. I have to say that my daughter has an account, and when she submitted her cache, I put a reviewer note asking for any queries to be sent to me and not directly to my daughter. In this case the responsibility really does start with the parents.
  8. The official answer to that is everyone, the obvious answer is not many people do.
  9. I don't want this to be viewed as bashing either as I too respect the reviewers that I have met and dealt with. However, I am going to throw the cat amongst the pigeons, sorry. Here is a reply that 'suggests' that reviewers do have certain access to accounts and Chris is unsure how much info should be openly relayed to the community therefore believes you should ask Groundspeak directly. If I am wrong in that assumption then I can't understand why a simple answer of 'Don't worry we don't have that sort of access' reply couldn't have been made. Not unless you choose to share it (via your profilepage Nope, reviewers can not access this information Nope, this info can only be accessed by the GS Lackys (employed at GS HQ) Again nope, (but if you want to send them to me [] ) Once again nope. All can see is the distance from your "home" co-ords to the co-ords of any cache you submit for publication To sum up, - reviewers (to the best of my knowledge) have no access to any personal information Then we have castagnari, whom was obviously typing his post as Graculus was submitting his saying that they don't have any access (to the best of his knowledge) (taking note his post was edited). I appreciate that castagnari is the forum mod, but his account does state that he is a reviewer. So my question is, if it is as clean cut as castagnari says, why has Graculus felt the need to refer the question to Groundspeak? Either something is being hidden or castagnari hasn't got a clue what he is talking about?
  10. Groundspeak don't know the details of your Paypal account. That's the whole point of Paypal, your details are kept secret from the third party. All they need to know is that you have paid them and Paypal do that on your behalf after taking the money from your account.
  11. If you missed the Geolympix Mega in Oxford last month (SE-ish), there's talk of a London Mega in 2014, just out of town in Kent. Let's not forget that the official UK Mega for 2014 is going to be Ayr in Scotland.
  12. I suppose it all depends on your take on drama? I found the Chapel Island Picnic to have some dramatic instances to it, so this is my effort. Then there was our dramatic sermon at St Gregory's, Vale of Lune
  13. I'd love to know how it might be "useful to terrorists" to know where old postboxes are. Different type of security, I believe it was about publicising the whereabouts of antique post boxes which are targets for thieves. In which case the gold postboxes shouldn't fall foul of that as they're painting modern ones. One of the last logs on the cache said: Having been contacted by post office security management. I have archived this cache as I have been informed that it could give information to would be terrorists. PLEASE NO MORE LOGS Which is where I took my quote from. So if you require further confirmation, probably best to get in touch with Royal Mail rather than ask on here? You never know, you might do us a favour and stop another pointless series from being made.
  14. I remember the Royal Mail demanding Victoria's Mail Box (Locationless Cache) be archived due to it being a threat to security? So perhaps caches of this nature would require permission from the Royal Mail? Especially given the fact the above named cache didn't have a physical cache at any of their boxes!!
  15. My tuppence worth, from what it says on the comments the fee is quite clearly for profit towards the up keep of the park. That is not recovering the cost for the running of the event!!
  16. A couple of pictures of The Lost Room today at The Falls
  17. Or just edit the second found log and change it to a note.
  18. I am indeed there for something other than caching - i'm a final year PhD student in EPS! I'm in every day, so let me know when you fancy a chat - my e-mail is ram31. You have email......
  19. Looking at your finds, it would appear that you visit Heriot Watt for something other than caching?? If you do drop me an email before the next time you come. If I am in work I will meet up and have a chat if you like.
  20. If you're on facebook come and join us on the Geocaching in Scotland page.
  21. Best thing to do is send the owner an email and ask for a clue. Only they know the answer especially as we don't even know which cache you are referring to.
  22. There may not be many, but what there are, are worth doing. I would suggest doing a PQ for the area, and then filter that down using the favourite points. I don't think you will be disappointed with the results. Just one side note, do the caches at the Falls of Bruar, which are just a few miles North of Blair Atholl. A good walk and you start at a tourist shopping stop.
  23. Perhaps the lack of entries this month is an indication of the restrictions that themes put on this. I would like to think that if we dropped the themes and went back to the original idea of just posting your recent caching pictures we would start to see more entries each month. Just my thoughts, going to crawl back into my hovel now.
  24. Oh my goodness! Can we say 'going to the extreme'? How often are people "blown up" than not? That's one of the reasons why we are losing our rights. More often than you think? Here is a link to the worst IRA bombings in the UK. Quite a lot on that list with a lot of deaths isn't there? And that is only the worst done by one group!! Some people have short memories!
