  1. I think some guy by the name of gates might have something to do with that since microsoft owns bing.
  2. i love bugs, but if I got spammed in the forums this way I'd toss your bug in the trash. You're going about this in the wrong way... I like how someone calling this spam and then stating they would throw the bug in the trash can actually tell the poster that they are going about it wrong. Awesome!!! The throwing away part is wrong, but the spam part is correct. I don't know if you've noticed, but this is but one of several old forum threads that were bumped for the purpose of trying to get the TB moving. Not that it bothers dan.reilly in the least that the forums were spammed... that was a easy one however its 7,144 miles from me
  3. Oh i HATE it when its on the equipment!
  4. Pretty much my thoughts as well. I enjoy sitting down with an old ammo can, reading the logbook page by page and trying to match up the remaining swag with the visitors of caching past. Unless I see something my daughter would like, I'll rarely trade, though I do make a habit of leaving a signature item in every cache they'll fit in. These items range from a mini baggie with a few antique foreign coins, a handmade geocaching keychain or a small, round, metal, personalized disk with a hole in it. (rhymes with mathgags) One thing I've witnessed many times is a phenomenon I like to call "Swag Karma", in which someone with no handy trade items takes a desired item from a cache, expressing something to the effect of, "I'll leave two things in the next cache I find to balance taking this one item", or, "I've left so much swag in other caches without taking anything that I deserve this item". Whilst that might effectively balance their personal swag karma, (assuming they actually follow through), it does nothing for the cache they just took something from. I've also noticed that, contrary to what I've read in these forums, swag degradation is not a universal problem. There seems to be a formula in play that states "The speed in which swag degrades is in inverse proportion to the number of calories required to reach the cache". This is something you can actually test for yourself by stocking two ammo cans with identical swag. Hide one about 5' from parking, and the other about 5000' from parking, then inventory each cache after every 5 visits. The cache closest to parking will degrade at a disproportionate rate to the cache that requires a lengthy hike. It seems that those folks most attracted to P&Gs are more likely to utilize unfair trading practices. If the difficult cache is challenging enough to earn word of mouth recommendations, you might even find that the overall swag value increases over time, as many folks who are attracted to the type of cache that takes all day to acquire often bring some unique swag item to leave as a memento of their visit. On a separate note, I would like to ask, nay, beg, that you cease and desist leaving bubble liquid. I've had way too many caches ruined by that stuff. I agree with all including NEVER add liquid trade items. The best liquid item ive seen was a "snow from utah" in a ziplock bag. YES! the bag popped open and soaked everything!
  5. you mean i can't hide a cache under the garbage can by the entrance door to burger king?
  6. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE think of your seekers and DON'T take readings with a phone!
  7. I don't do the swag thing. don't see any value in broken mc toys, rusted pennies or cracked marbles.
  8. Nice collection- you look to be a fan of jcanyoneer (I may have spelled it wrong). But what does that mean about two being available are prizes for solving your puzzles? Is there another puzzle solving contest somewhere? One for solving this puzzle Ssptv 8pf 1 Lpa44 k 0536 y4 8219Pk (second to find prize: Jcanyoneer sig geocoin) and one for another puzzle.
  9. Posts like this boggle my mind. First off, maps were never a perk of Premium Membership. Free and paid members have always had access to the same maps. Second, none of the actual benefits of membership are valuable to you? PQs? Notifications? Bookmark lists? I paid for membership because I want to get PQs of large amounts of caches. They could take away everything else - even individual cache pages and every sort of map imaginable - and as long as I have my PQs, I'll continue to pay for membership. Why does it boggle your mind? mapping is a BIG part of geocaching!

No, that just may be a Rolls Royce or something along those lines. Let's put a Travel Bug sticker on our National Debt. What is it now? About 7 trillion. try 15.56 trillion National debt
  11. You can also find "Premium Member Only Caches" which really are very different from regular caches in the following ways: They are epic adventures They contain actual treasure Are sought by only the rich and powerful elite of geocaching.com - the premium members They contain the words "Premium Member Only" There is a back-door way to log these if you aren't a premium member, but, well, it's just easier if you are a premium member... Seriously though, premium membership is worth it - it is very inexpensive relative to the amount of fun in the game, and the premium memberships help keep things running smoothly. The backdoor doesn't work for Platinum caches however!
  12. 1. park next to lamp post 2. lift cover 3. replace 4. drive away
  13. Don't activate it. that'll drain some value off it.
  14. That's nuthin'. Go to R.E.I. and look what they are charging for containers and geocaching supplies. It's laughable. My wife bought me a fake rock geocache from REI and I hit the roof when I saw 24.99 for a $4 fake rock with a $5 bison container inside. those are $5.99 at locksmith near me
  15. I carry a beretta 92FS for my zombie issues should one arise.
  16. Love the glossies in this months "needs archived mag"
  17. Common courtesy with todays young folk is almost non existant! if someone replaces a muggled container or even adds a new logsheet gets a public thank you from me.
  18. The answer is yes and no :-). Because each piece is custom manufactured, dont know what will be lifetime number of coins issued. So starting with custom icon would unnecessarily increase the price. But when total number of coins issued exceeds, say 100, i think it will be worth to add custom icon. On the other hand, what is more value: 32x32 small icon or possibility to create customized design at reasonable price even in single quantity. ? The intent is to be able create personal coin with another projects under the same shape and size. The only limit is the Groundspeak design rules ( each new project have to pass through Groundspeak approval ). Design template can be made available if there is interest to modify project . I think these will sell and yes many people will choose to buy or not buy based on a custom icon
  19. Looks like they're sold out already.
  20. Some of my favorites. two available are prizes for solving my puzzles
  21. sellers should use small boxes instead of those cheap vinyl envelopes.
