  1. Please note that I used a lower case 'c'. I was not aware that you, as Criminal, existed. Still, GPS Garage Sale will not identify the miscreant. He is protected and, thereby, encouraged to continue taking advantage of the unknowing. I won't chance shopping there. 73, BB Caviat Raptor!
  2. It appears that the screwor has more rights here than the screwee. If the powers-what-be think that this encourages people to shop and buy at the garage sale they are sadly mistaken. A criminal, yes criminal, here has more 'right' to be protected than the honest folks. We can not know about him but he already knows about us. We enjoy politically correct protection which is only slightly better than no protection at all. Pretty soon no garage sale.
  3. Thanks for the suggestion. I will hit Dale up big time later today. Blasted partner walked me into the ground yesterday. (Who said the second dog doesn't get to see good scenery?) No joy in the woods that day. Strike out! The car door never looked so good. Perhaps you can understand. What was really neat was when I finally got Miss Madonna to take the 76S. We were walking back to the car - - past a cache we couldn't find (It was my fault.). She was like the hound on the hunt. She strided away from me. When she got close to the spot she slowed. It was almost as if she were sniffing for it, as, of course, she was. We both had a great time and left in the dark. The best time to start geocaching was 20 years ago. The second best time is now! BB
  4. Miss Madonna and I are going for the Not Found Record. Three this afternoon. One I flat I blew the coordinates. It was supposed to be in a park but wasn't. Two I blew the directions. Duh. Three was right in the middle of an area that looked as if it had recently been rototilled. Miss Madonna says I am getting real good at walking around in circles with a pure stupid look on my face. I was disappointed but when I got back to the car it really didn't matter. I had a good time. BB
  5. Thanks, Dick! I appreciate your suggestions. 73, BB WD8LKI
  6. Miss Madonna and I are going caching this afternoon based on your instructions. I entered 3 local caches and will be out-the-door soonest. RTFM! Well, I've been doing that since Dawn less 30 this morning. With the dawn and several hours of pusshing buttons I have made progress. Of course I want everything and I want it right now! I suspect that's normal when entering a new avocation. Your wisdom has helped. Eventually I will learn how to download. This afternoon I'm out getting the stink blowed off. BB
  7. I could screw-up a one car funeral!!! Followed your recommendation. Still getting Error-22 message. BB
  8. Thank you. I believe that I have followed your directions. I get and Error 22 message that says that the GPS is not responding. I will go through everything again. BB
  9. It arrived yesterday afternoon. Making progress. Haven't been shot as yet by teammate. How do I download local cashes into my GPSMAP 76S? Is it difficult? Anyone with a 76S in the 419 Area Code? Please help. Miss Madonna wants to GO! I fear her fuse is getting short. BB
  10. You quoted one of my faves All that is gold does not glitter. Not all those who wander are lost. The old that is strong does not wither. Deep roots are not touched by the frost. From ashes a fire shall be woken. A light from the shadow will spring. Renewed will be blade that is broken. And crownless again shall be king. BB PS I wouldn't care if the blasted thing weighed two pounds! Miss Madonna will be hogging it except when she's driving. I hate being the Attending Spouse!
  11. Thank you for the kind encouragement. I have to tell you that there's one thing about you that I do not like. It's your name. The reason that I do not like it is because I do not have it. Barnacle Bear pales in comparison. Great choice! BB Is this guy Hannibal Lector?
  12. Tell me about the lanyard you want. Marlinspike seamanship is my bag. Maybe I can help. I hope to know what kind of lanyard comes with the unit when it arrives (Please Lord! ) tomorrow. BB
  13. Thanks! Wish I had a picture like yours. Based on our first two hunts I should change our name to Tripp, Stumble & Fall.
  14. Thank you. I will do just that! BB
  15. Nope, a GPSMAP 76S. I wish that I knew more about what is really needed. I don't care about the best time for fishing and hunting. Do I really need a built-in compass? I guess I'm going to find out tomorrow. The Vista is/was my 2nd choice. Good Hunting! BB
  16. I really appreciate the help I have received from people here and all over. In the month we've been interested everyone has been friendly and quick to offer advice and suggestions. I don't know anything about the GPS I will purchase tomorrow, with the exception that it has 24 MB of memory. My bride likes to go for rides. I'm not crazy about rides. I thought this might help. My only experience is from searching for two caches with a compass. We met two teams at one spot, Finding Fraggle Rock & SerenityNow. Wow, talk about embassadors for Geochching! They answered 822 dumb questions (Some of them twice.) and demonstrated what a great time they have doing things together. My bride didn't need any convincing after that! She can't wait to get her hands on a GPS. The only time I'll get to play with it is while she's driving. BB
  17. All you need is your husband. Hopefully you will have fun because you are together.
  18. During Hurrican Floyd I was assigned to a NDMS Disaster Mortician Team. After a couple of weeks the team members were tired and burnt-out. At the wind-down party every drink of punch was served in a specimin glass. Why specimin glasses were part of a DMORT's supply cache is a mystery to me.
