  1. This is how I do Paperless cachin'. Might get a tidbit of info. Paperless Geocachin' On A Mac
  2. Am curious to know which N Ga cache started this thread. Does anyone know? I live in N Ga and only heard about this thru our GGA forums. (Georgia Geocacher's Association)
  3. Another OSX native alternative: Caching with a Mac on OSX Still working on it, tho.
  4. The area around you is LOADED with caches. I sometimes come down from the N Ga mtns to rack up a few around your area. Hope to see ya at the Feb meeting.
  5. We stayed in Charleston just 2 weeks ago and did a little cachin' while there. There are a bunch of virtuals downtown, if you like those (I grabbed 5), but the best two I really enjoyed were these: Lookout Sully! and one of my new favs Someday My Prince Will Come. Both are on the beach and not exactely downtown, but worth a visit. Enjoy "Give to a pig when it grunts and a child when it cries, and you'll have a fine pig and a bad child." -Proverb
  6. Hmmm .... I'm sorry to say that it may sit for awhile more. I have been to this cache (from GA) and it is a looong hike into pristine wilderness. It is well worth the hike, (one of my all-time favorite caches) but it doesn't get too many visitors because of it's remoteness. The cache has been stolen and moved since I last visited and I had planned to revisit it, but it's got to get cooler before I attempt it again. I'll keep an eye on it and will move it up on my todo list. If it's still there when I get to it, I'll be sure to grab it and move it along. 7. Yea, I know it hasn't been out of commission that long. I hadn't planned on releasing another copy for awhile. I'll wait to see if it comes back first. "Give to a pig when it grunts and a child when it cries, and you'll have a fine pig and a bad child." -Proverb
  8. Just got my NEW Palm m130 color PDA from OfficeDepot for $179 (subtract $20 Palm rebate for a total of $159). Is a little hard to read in direct sunlight, but works like a charm when you position it right. The linkI used to get it setup: Paperless Geocaching by mtn-man "Give to a pig when it grunts and a child when it cries, and you'll have a fine pig and a bad child." -Proverb
  9. quote: If you aren't going to participate fully and follow all the guidelines why even play at all? The 'guidelines' (rules) taken from the Geocaching.com FAQ says nothing about logging your finds online. quote: Geocaching is a relatively new phenomenon. Therefore, the rules are very simple: 1. Take something from the cache 2. Leave something in the cache 3. Write about it in the logbook Where you place a cache is up to you. If someone doesn't want to log a find on the cache page - that is totally up to him/her. It doesn't diminish caching at all, IMHO. I am not a 'people' person and got into this and contine to enjoy caching BECAUSE I can cache on my own terms without too many regulations. I log all my finds, but don't feel like I HAVE to. quote: This farewell topic was meant to draw in goodbyes and "we'll miss you's" and "don't leave's" by the threads creator and thats about it. Maybe so, but that's HIS business, and shouldn't get trashed for it. quote: It's simple. It's the online logs that I place caches for. If you don't long online I don't get to enjoy the log. You can if you check on your caches regularly. Even if someone doesn't post a log online, MOST (but not all) do put something in the logbook. That's where the real enjoyment is. There is so much more posted in the cache log that doesn't make it to the online log. Just my 2 cents worth.
  10. email sent regarding trade. "Give to a pig when it grunts and a child when it cries, and you'll have a fine pig and a bad child." -Proverb
  11. Good idea. I think I'll grab it back and maybe resend it out again with the 'Copy' tag that came with the original. I won't have the original Dollar, but I can easily put another in a bottle and start over. It was the awareness factor for 'Cache In - Trash Out' that I was trying to stress. Another bug with the same number will serve the purpose. Thanx "Give to a pig when it grunts and a child when it cries, and you'll have a fine pig and a bad child." -Proverb
  12. Thanx, guys for your input. I guess I should just write it off and if it mysteriously reappears, I'll be happy. Keep yours eyes open, tho.
  13. I am trying to locate one of my wayward TB's called Johnnie's Dollar. It was picked up in a Georgia cache called Tool Time by a cacher named micahman on August 7. He stated that he would bring it back to Omaha and put it in a cache there. He became a member that same day to log his only 'find' and last visited the site the next day, Aug.8. I have emailed him several times with no answer. Does anyone in/around Omaha know of a 'micahman' and/or how to get in touch with him?
  14. quote: Had time to look it up today. I must apologize, I had the price _WRONG._ You will not save $23.00. You will only save $22.55. Sorry for the mistake. I bought my cables http://shopnow123.safeshopper.com/2/286.htm?878 I bought one of these to try on my Mac. Regardless of what the page specs said, there was no software/drivers for the Mac on the CD. Running MacOS 9.1 on 8500 with G3/500 card and USB card upgrades. Mac wouldn't recognize it at all. Long story short - customer service is sending me this one at no extra charge. USB to Serial Adapter They guaranteed it to work. We'll see. 'Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.' - Anonymous
