  1. There have been many problems with the CD not being read by certain drives. I think it has something to do with the copy protection. I emailed you.
  2. Everybody's doin' it, doin' it, doin' it, Pickin' their nose and chewin' it, chewin' it, Thinkin' that it's candy but IT'SNOT
  3. Sounds sweet. I gotta get me some of that!
  4. I haven't read all the posts, so I apologize if this has been said, but If I had to choose one thing: I would ban people from complaining so much, about everything. Maybe closing the forums like Harrald said would solve all the problems...
  5. Congrats. I found 7 today. That was actually my record in the most number of finds in a day. Glad you had fun! I did!
  6. Honestly, I see no reason for money to have anything about God on it. It was founded on a specific God, and doesn't neccessarily have anything to do with other people's God's. I think it has a sense of superiority, and does not take into account other people's religious. If I could change it with a snap of my fingers, I would. Thru history, we have always considered ourselves a country with God on our side. While we killed many people from different places, we did it in God's name, and the battles we won, were because of God. I think in today's society, we need to get past that. Yes, I still spend money, and carry it every day in my wallet. No, I don't understand why God is on it. I will probably leave where's george dollars in caches, but I only do that few, and far between anyway. Personally, I think it's a bit strange to have a religious president. When he says anything about God in his speeches, I think it can very much alienate people who don't share his beliefs. Unrelatedly, and there doesn't need to be a response to this, I think his ban on gay marriage is partly for his religious beliefs.
  7. umm... what's the second rule? oh wait...
  8. Did they really say that? That's surprising. Oh yeah, as mentioned before, I have also used both, side by side in the field, and the quad was a better antenna. So, as you can see, one probably isnt really much better than the other.
  9. After I got poison oak for the first time a month or so ago, I read up on it. It seems that the oil, urishiol is EXTREMELY strong. It will last 1-5 years on an object, and will still be able to produce a rash. Also, something I read, it said that the amount of oil on the head of a pin, is enough to give a huge number of people a rash (I don't remember how many people). Anyway, after I realized how strong it was, I figured someone would want to cause some mayhem, and would have extracted the oil into a concentrate. You would be able to put it on door knobs, or TOILET SEATS!!! and no one would be able to see it, and it could cause rashes over and over. Thankfully, I seem to be the only one who thought of it. Or maybe no one else wants to mess with the nasty stuff enough to actually do it. I couldnt find it anywhere. Which is a good thing.
  10. If we classify geocaching as an "extreme sport" I can see all the fun we will have We will roll up to the local skate park in our jeeps, with our ultra light trekking poles, and camelbaks... "Yo dawg. You wanna go cachin'?" Geocaching should be in the X-Games.
  11. Your "compass" is a compass screen. When you are moving, it will act as a compass. When you stand still, it will do nothing. The "celestial body" icons on it, will help you find north however, if you are standing still. You line up the sun or moon with the actual sun or moon, then, N is pointing north. An actual electronic compass, like the Plat has, will rotate, as you move the unit in your hand.
  12. Why does he want a removeable antenna? Does he want to be able to ad an external antenna? If so, any GPS will take a re-radiating antenna, which can greatly boost it's reception. He could buy a cheap gps now, and buy the antenna later. They are about 50 bucks.
  13. That's funny If a tree falls in the forest, and no one's around, and it hits a mime, does anyone care? I always thought that was funny.
  14. That's neat. Thought, I'm not very good at it.
  15. My friend and I are actualy slowly turning geocaching into the next fight club, in our area. At certain predetermined times, people go to certain coords. Then, another group goes and tries to find them. When a "cache victim" is found, the finder attempts to beat the snot out of them. Whoever loses the fight, has to be the next "cache victim" and the winner gets to be the next find. It's a lot of fun, though we have all been going thru a number of GPS's as they are often smashed during the rumbles.
  16. That sucks. That was quite a deal indeed...
  17. It can greatly depend on the difficulty of the cache, or whether it appeared active during the week, or on the weekend. Around here, I am often FTF on most caches that are urban/somewhat urban. I will jump in my car the second I see it and go grab it. For the caches I have hidden, some were found the day they became active, some the next day. I don't think they ever went more than a week without being found. Often, multis will take longer, because there is more involved to go and find it. It just depends how crazy the FTF junkie in your area is!
  18. I definitely agree that many are not solicitous. and I DEFINITELY hope there will never be an actual ban on things in caches with religious connotation. I would not remove a sig item with a religious overtone for any other reason than wanting to keep it. If a sig item wants to represent the owner, that's fine. I have the utmost respect for anyone with religious beliefs, but do not agree with regular old "religious junk" thrown in a cache. My definition of religious junk is cheap little plastic coins, or keychains that are falling apart, that have the quote, "Smile, God loves you!" Or something similar. I would never take out a religious sig item, and drop it in the trash can on the way back to my car! It is true that our money says, "In God we Trust" and that our countries Pledge was actually changed and "under God" was added to it. It personally does not really bother me, but many people think there should be a complete division of Church and state. I mean this as an example only, and realize that it is over the top, but religious literature, and trinkets can be viewed as the same thing as leaving white supremecist literature, and little swastikas. In my opinion, obviously one is worse than the other, but you get my point. Many people take great offese to other people attemting to "convert" them, whether they are actually trying to, or not. So, I will continue to remove religious "propaganda" from caches, but will definitely not disrespect peoples religious sig items. I actually still have all the religious trinkets I have taked from caches. None have ended up in the trash.
  19. In my opinion (not that it really matters ) You bought the best GPS for the money. I have a Gold, and there really is no other GPS on the market that I want more. (No, I'm not just saying that! ) I really like the MeriGolds, and recommend them to everyone. Mine works great all the time, and does everything I need it too. Congrats on your new purchase! 180 is a good price too. You will definitely have fun caching. I found my 100th cache last weekend. Since I have found most of the caches in my area, my "spur of the moment" caching has become few and far between, but it's still a lot of fun. I'm heading out tomorrow, early in the morning, to go spend the day caching!
  20. I have a Gold, and as of now, there is no other GPS in the market that I would like to have more. It is BY FAR in my opinion, the best bang for the buck. There are things that it does better than Garmins, and there are things that Garmins do better. But for the features you get, for the price, NOTHING can beat it. Personally, I'm not a big eTrex fan. The 76's look cool though.
  21. I remember my first cache... I just hit my 100th last weekend. It was a proud moment. Welcome!
  22. I usually carry a compass, but have yet to really need it. So far, my MeriGold takes me right to the cache.
  23. Well, it seems the general consensus is that a Quad Helix will work better under tree cover than a patch will. I don't think there will ever be a unanimous agreement about that though. I think the Quads are better at picking up sats on the horizon, while the patch is better for overhead. Also, the patch is meant to be oriented flat, while the Quad is meant to be held vertical. In my personal opinion, I prefer the Quads. With my experience with Quads side by side with an eTrex, I much preferred the quad. It seems to acquire and hold a lock much better. Other people prefer the patches. Overall, you will be happy either way.
  24. No offense, but I usually take those out of caches. I don't really think it's the right place for them. Again, no disrespect.
