  1. I prefer caching in the winter. It's too unbearably hot in the summer to cache. There may be less bugs to contend with, however, there are more leaves to contend with. I'll take the non-biting leaves over blood-sucking mosquitos anyday.
  2. That sounds like fun, and it is only 30 minutes away from me. I'll definitely have to look into it.
  3. This cache has scary potential if you are in the right frame of mind, and especially if done at night. But, I wouldn't classify it as pee-in-pants scary...just horror movie set scary.
  4. That's a cool pic! What size is that? Hard to tell from that photo without anything to compare it with. I think that someone mentioned it was around 7 inches or 18 cm. It is such a cool pic because it does look so deceptively large.
  5. How about adding the website for your local geocaching forum. That is how I found out about my local geocaching group.
  6. That's so cool. I just love to hear stories like that. It was meant to be!! edit:typo
  7. Hello Josh, You might also want to post a link directed toward North Texas cachers in the Texas Geocaching forum. HERE is the link.
  8. Here is link to cache. You might also want to post a note on the Texas Geocaching site here. Edited: I added a link for this thread to the Southeast Texas forum. I hope you get some help. I would love to help, but I'm not close to that cache.
  9. Yes, this is really addictive, but I think that there is a 12-step program listed in the forum somewhere. Have fun. Cache on!!
  10. I recall a recent supreme court ruling that said you must provide identification to the police when asked. I forget if it was the NJ supreme court or the US SC though. You are correct by my understanding - tho I don't recall a 'ruling' - I thouht you always had to have some kind of ID or you were considered a vagrant. In Texas, that rule only applies when there is probable cause or suspicious behavor. If someone is walking down the road, but there is nothing suspicious, a police officer can ask but the person is not required to produce ID. However, if that same person is walking down the street not doing anything suspicious, but he/she matches the description of someone recently involved in a criminal matter, then they need to produce ID and the cop needs to explain why. It all comes down to how the incident is reported.
  11. Me, too. I guess that I will just have to take a trip to Japan myself someday. Sayonara, Acer san!
  12. I wish I had a TB to give you. I would love for a TB of mine to get to Japan. That would be too cool. Any chance that you will be going to DFW?
  13. I think that I would be the type to lack the originality also. I'll have to consider "meandering in the recreation area" since a few of those are in my area. Either that, or I should think about taking a creative writing course.
  14. When I first started geocaching, I promised myself that I would find 100 caches before I hid my first cache. Well, I've finally reached 100 finds, but I'm a bit apprehensive to hide a cache, because my area is full of fun and creative caches from the likes of 9key that I just couldn't live up to. If only I had an ounce of his creativity.
  15. You made me look anyway. Still 0 messages
  16. I agree with Cannon. I found a cache once and it didn't seem very difficult or horrible, but when I went back to the same cache with my sister, it was a whole different story. It didn't even seem like the same cache (and LOTS of PI the second time out-Yuck). Hey Sandlizard, you ought to try that same cache in the Fall to see if it is any different to seek. That's what I love about geocaching. It's a little bit of everything.

    A Real Noob

How very crazy...you live in my area!!!! Just email me if you want/need any hints to nearby caches. There are a lot of 1/1s in the area to start out with, and let me know if you need some help. Happy caching
  18. I've met more cachers when I was trying for a FTF, than finding a cache that has been there for months. That's always a fun perk.
  19. Aaaahhh! Food...my favorite subject. After I find a cache where I burned a lot of calories, I try to put them back in my body as fast as I can. If it is mealtime, I crave a bacon cheeseburger with a chocolate shake. If it is not mealtime, I would probably eat the biggest ice cream cone ever, or a sundae, or a banana split...YUMMY...now I'm hungry. I just love food...
  20. I'm a female and sometimes cache alone, too. On the days that I cache alone, I always bring pepper spray and sometimes other self-defense items. It usually depends on what types of caches I plan to find. Lately, I've been caching fewer times alone. I would just invite family and friends to join me. Eventually you will find that one of them is just as addicted to caching that you are. Et voila!! A regular caching partner you will find. Good luck and be careful.
  21. I've met a lot of local cachers, but they don't frequent the forums. The forum-posting cachers that I have met are Prime Suspect (hilarious story-teller) and JamieZ (what a cutie and an inspiration). If I were fortunate enough to meet the AS posters, it would probably turn out to be quite a silly day.
  22. That looks like a lot of fun...The logs are great too; just love that mission-speak .
  23. I have just got to get a pair of those. After all, my regular pants don't come with the amazing "storm flap security pocket"...I don't think that I want to know what that pocket does.
