  1. not seen memory map yet - I'll have to take a look at that one. Currently use gpxview and gpxsonar on the pda. Depending on how secure the carpark is I'll probably bring the laptop too ;-) (and possibly the wife)
  2. cool - hopefully I can get my axim to work there......is it a bt openzone hotspot (which i think may still be free on that date?) Incidentally, isn't a laptop a bit heavy to carry when geocaching?
  3. it probably *can't* be done by someone who works at compusa :-) (or pcworld if you are reading this in the uk)
  4. I liked it so far - hope the final feature will be good too. Where were the pictures taken? They both look interesting.
  5. I sent an email to their support department earlier today and got an email back that said to ring 1-800-390-2344 as they will know what to do. I'll have to wait until Monday to do that I think.
  6. You really should set up a dedicated forum for feedback/bug reports etc. In the meantime, I've just loaded a pocket query containing all of my found caches. I then have to go into each cache to set the status from imported to I've found it. (which is already a pain) but when I hit update it prompts me if I want to overwrite the record that already exists, which is an extra couple of clicks - Can we turn this off please?
  7. I've not had mine yet either, unit purchased 24th November 2003. I've just logged into wherethehell and its there...and authorised... Now I need to know who to chase.
  8. Sounds really good - hopefully i'll be able to make it. Putting it in my diary now.
  9. whereabouts is the south northwest? Nearest city?
  10. lol Chris! The cache is placed, as of 2pm this afternoon - I'm now just waiting for it to be approved.
  11. you should get the dll missing error message with the name of the dll. To find out your os, if you can get to a dos prompt, then typing in "winver " without quotes will tell you what operating system you are running
  12. I can confirm it works (well) on my nokia 6210. Makes a useful backup if you find yourself with spare time where you haven't downloaded any caches.
  13. the other program that I use in addition to gpxsonar is gpxview, http://strandberg.org/gpxview I can't work out which of these utilities I want to keep as my main program....
  14. Thanks for all the input guys - i'm just itching to get the cache out there! I had it prepared over the weekend and was planning to place it today, then got called out to a customers site so couldn't get out at lunchtime. I might put the co-ordinates for the circular path as a suggested route - it really is circular, with the cache about three quarters of the way round. The Circular route takes you past a couple of ponds and its a pleasant walk - not spectacular scenery but *nice* and makes a good lunchtime stroll.....So for you cachers near Crewe - keep an eye out......
  15. Upgraded this evening (and it went up by 30p in the last few days!)
  16. I'd echo all the statements above, although I would point out that December/January is not the best time of year to start this hobby as its raining all the time which makes the romantic picnics less attractive :-) Having said that my wife has really enjoyed the (dry) caches we've found together (but doesn't like me shooting off to do one by myself leaving her at home. In my defense I had to do it - it was new years day and the opportunity for a First To Find too :-)
  17. I currently signed up for the pay monthly trial just to see what these pocket queries were like. I now habve a query for one's near home, on near the office and one near my parents and another for found. Seeing as though the dollar is really poor/great against the pound right now I want to go to the year option. Will this get appended to the end of my current month?
  18. I'm about to hide my first cache which is on a circular walk near where I work. I was thinking of either making it a traditional, with just one set of co-ordinates, which will take you straight to the final place OR making it a puzzle/multi where the clues/co-ordinates walk you around the walk until you get to the final hide. The walk total is about a mile around a business park, but its fairly pretty. So which would you do? The direct route or the roundabout walk?
  19. Using the clues, I reckon its St Etheldreda's (Central London) from this page (url correct at time of posting)
  20. why don't you just bookmark their url like This one for Jamie or am i missing something?
  21. I changed my nick after deciding what to use as my signature item. My first one that goes out in the wild is a travel bug and will be placed in my first cache sometime this week. A sneak preview is at DoubleBlank. The picture is naff as the item is fairly small, smaller than a travel bug dogtag, so is hard to photograph with the macro mode. Still, I think its a unique item (I hope)
  22. my blog, http://absoblogginlutely.net has a category page, http://absoblogginlutely.net/geocache that contains all my geocaching posts. I don't always blog a find, mainly as that information can be got from my profile page on geocaching.
  23. we don't get waas in the uk do we????Enjoy your first cache (of many I hope!)
  24. Personally I prefer gpxview (http://strandberg.org/gpxview) as i think the interface is cleaner, and you don't need to format to another format (mobipockets format) OR install/run mobipocket.
  25. an rss feed for each cache would be fantastic (although a probable drain on server resources?). A feed for these forums would be good. Just visiting once or twice a day and looking at new posts gives 6-12 new pages! I could read a lot of those with an rss feed a lot quicker!
