  1. actually as i understand the op the only data uploaded would be the cemetary itself, NOT the details of the graves within it - that information would go on another site I'd imagine. So Yes I agree but then I would say that as I did some of this work in the UK for the cheshire family history society.
  2. I logged a visit on a blog but when i looked at my stats it actually logged the entry (http://www.Waymarking.com/logs/log_details.aspx?f=-1&DCTGUID=e36b943e-5482-4914-bab5-8c7adb7090f2&Threshold=80&LogGUID=84482208-97d6-4825-abba-e24e3de12e1e) under a mcdonalds. Just tried to log it (blazerfan) again from the log this icon on the right hand side of http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/details...33-aa053e88202b and this time it went to coyote bar and grill. A refresh on blazerfan page and the log link is pointing to the correct page. Using firefox on xpsp2.
  3. The problem is that there is not much data on there. Try searching under postcode 43017 and you will find (the first) entry for bloggers for me. I think that later on the problem is going to be too much junk being returned by location - just think how many waymarks could be serviced by a location..... red painted doors, green painted doors, mcdonalds, burger king, wendys, fire hydrants, ponds, churches, pubs, libraries, cemetaries....... edit: Actually the search engine box is just a graphic at the moment.
  4. Its still a great feeling though isn't it? Congrats from me too.
  5. The "best" way is to run pocket queries of all caches placed in a country (uk in this case) limiting by date found. This way you can get them all. However, I think all the uk caches are up to 15 pocket queries now. If you search on the board you should come up with a list of dates that will get you them all.
  6. since the 10th. Post your comments about it on the forum at http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...0entry1643349 (which i've just replied to). Try and be positive about why you need the information and perhaps one day the powers that be may understand why cachers have different ways of using data that they don't/won't understand
  7. Took me 4 days to realise this - thankfully before next week. I too load my gpx's into gsak automatically so was fortunate to spot that warning. on other points, the entire UK (for example) takes about 14-15 pq's to generate for every cache (done by filtering on placed by date). If these caches were available to download on a weekly basis that would solve a lot of the uk query hits I'm sure. The same goes for the ohio caches - about 7 pq's will get the entire state and I'm sure there are quite a few ohio cachers who download this information. The "found by me" is not an issue in gsak (not sure about cachemate/other programs) as it can be told to interoggate the logs to see if you have been posted as finding the cache. Therefore 1 gpx could be used by multiple people to be kept uptodate on the caches in their country. The argument against this is do I really need all this data? Its useful to have all the old logs to look through when going to a cache that you've never done and that is out of your normal home territory (great for travelling salesreps etc). Stats of how many caches I've done out of my state etc can easily be generated and you can also run whatever types of queries I want whenever I want, such as caches along the m6 motorway in the uk - can Groundspeak do that? NO. Can gsak with a uk set of caches? Yes.
  8. Probably a silly question but...OK, I got a PQ today with a note on the email telling me to click the link at the bottom to run the PQ next week. So does that mean click it now? Or click it when I want to run it next week? Thanks Thats all very well and good, but if you use gsak then you don't need to read the email as gsak does it all. That means you could miss this note and then not get your queries. Not a good solution.
  9. it may be worth having your own domain or email redirection then that gives you the ability to forward ONE email address to multiple email address's. That way you can get the mail to go to your home, office, cell, pager with only one notification.
  10. congrats from me too - hope you don't get a puncture every 100.
  11. Congrats from me too - thats a good cache to do it on too.
  12. congrats from me too - apparently there is a 1000 finder party in Pennyslvania in two weeks time if you can make it over there?
  13. Congratulations from me too - were all those 200 in oxford? (sometimes it feels like there are that many there.)
  14. Congrats on the first ton - but appalling weather? It was 93 degrees here :-)
  15. congratulations on the 100's and also climbing the mountain - an achievement in itself.
  16. I've just noticed that since the 10th August all my pocket queries have contained a link to click to ensure that the pocket queries run next week. I'm guessing that this is due a capacity problem at Groundspeak and they are hoping that people who don't read the emails won't click on the links to renew the cache. This works if you base your argument on "those who don't read the emails don't need the query" but ignores the fact that if you have gsak downloading the emails then you don't need to read them as gsak reads them straight into the database. Hopefully this will help those who do what I do and just have them loaded straight into gsak.
  17. One of the puzzle caches I've done, the ammo can is under the river and was bone dry so yes, as long as the seals are good it is waterproof. Just don't use one which has a big dent in it. Unfortunately the same can't be said about Doc Martins - see http://www.geocaching.com/seek/gallery.asp...df-231204bfb519 for the photos.
  18. Congrats from me too. I feel sorry for whoever had to log all of these.
  19. The local newspaper had a great article about geocaching this weekend and the domino sig items got a mention. Scan of article at my flickr page (click on the picture to see a full size scan that is readable.
  20. I've somehow volunteered to act as the local coordinator for some UK Geocoins so if you want one and can get to Columbus then post an order at the COG forums If you can't get to a cachencoffee then postal arrangements can probably be worked out. Costs will be about $8each plus pnp
  21. oh and the other slight drawback is that you'd need to leave your phone unlocked so the emergency services can get into it. They may not always have a 13yr old kid handy to "break the lock" to access the phone memory.
  22. worse still is the *&(&(*^(^ samsung phones you get over here - you CAN'T have two people with the same number. So I can't have home and ICE. The only way around it is to program a pause onto the end of the phone number for one of the numbers.
