  1. Since none of the representatives has made any input to this thread in almost a year I feel obligated to contribute with links to two of the largest swedish geocaching communities that I know of. Geocaching i Sverige Opencaching.se
  2. Thanks everyone for your input. This is going to be my way of searching the Groundspeak forum in the future
  3. In every forum I've participated in the users are supposed to search for answers in old threads before posting new questions. I have now spent one half hour looking in threads that does not cover the area I am intrerested in. The reason? This forum does not allow me to search for words less than 5 characters. I am looking for information about how to add a link in a log. I would like to look for the words link and log but that is not possible. What's the use of a forum if you cannot learn from what others allready published? Or am I wrong? Is there a way of doing these kind of searches?
  4. I did'nt even have to nag. The answer came yesterday
  5. I have reported the problem to Groundspeak. Nagging perhaps does the trick?
  6. First of all: I tried to find an answer to this question by searching the forum. This was not possible due to the fact that all of the words that I sought for had to have at least 5 characters. Sigh! I usually log my caches in the same order that I found them. But when I look at the page All Geocaches By Username, they appear in another order. When I first joined Groundspeak they appeared in correct order but this has changed. Why? Is it a bug? Is it reported? Is a fix expected in a near future? Regards, The Strat
  7. Thanks gunnar_g! No, I have "lock on road" turned off. It was on before but I could not see any change in the behaviour when I turned it off. Thanks guggie! I checked my manual and found the text you are referring to. Turns out that this is only for Vista and Summit owners who have electronic compasses. Mine is a Legend and does not have this setting in the "heading" menu.
  8. I just installed the new software in my Legend HCx (2GB Kingston SD) and had no problems whatsoever. The reason for updating was that I hoped that this version would solve a problem I've had since I bought it. The problem appears when I go from high speed to low. When I drive my car with the GPS in map view it works just fine. But when I park and get out of the car the GPS will not update neither the map view nor the compass view. The only thing still working is the data field showing the distance. If I keep on walking for a while eventually the compass view starts to work. After yet a couple of minutes the map view starts to work also. This behaviour is extremely annoying since I always gets behind when it comes to finding caches. One solution is to turn the GPS off and then on again directly after stopping which makes the GPS work normally again. The fact that this works and the situation where the problem appears has lead me to believe that it's caused by the sudden change of speed. That's also why I thought that the update could help (vertical speed, glide ratio). Yesterday I tested with the new software version installed. I was happy at first when the GPS seemed to start navigating much quicker than before, but at my next cache it was locked up the same way as before the update Are there more of you out there with the same problem? I have heard of some people here in Sweden with the same experiences and we all have in common that we use the map "Friluftskartan Pro". Anyone heard of a solution?
  9. I second that. Here in northern Sweden we have a half meter of snow right now and some caches become impossible to find. Most cache owners around this area uses attributes which is a good idea, but I'm (like more and more geocachers) into paperless caching and I won't get this information. Please add attributes into GPX files! Is there another thread where I should write this to make it heard among the people that decides this matters? Regards, The Strat
  10. I use my cell phone for paperless caching. I have it with me all the time so I don't have to bring any extra equipment to go out. I use Smart-GPX and Spoilersync to get all information to my phone. This method of paperless caching is free (unless you want to sponsor the authors of course). Smart-GPX can be downloaded at www.smartcaching.de and works with Nokia 6630, 6680/6681/6682, N70/N72, N90, N71, N73, N80, N91, N93, Nokia 5800, Sony Ericsson P990i, M600i, W960i, Motorola MOTORIZR Z8, Z10, Nokia Communicator 9500, 9300/9300i. If your cell phone is one of the above, the choice is easy Regards, The Strat
  11. I'm not sure I have a Symbian OS. It is a Java based phone. Does Smart-GPX need a data plan? Smart-GPX works with Nokia 6630, 6680/6681/6682, N70/N72, N90, N71, N73, N80, N91, N93, Nokia 5800, Sony Ericsson P990i, M600i, W960i, Motorola MOTORIZR Z8, Z10, Nokia Communicator 9500, 9300/9300i.
  12. I use Smart-GPX for paperless caching on my mobile phone. I can read all the information from the GPX files off-line and it also supports viewing of pictures along with Spoiler Sync. It's free! Works great for me! Check it out at www.smartcaching.de
