  1. Is there likely to be an upgrade to the app that makes logging TBs easier on a mobile device? I know we can't expect the same functionality in an app that we can get on the website, but it's one of the ways the app fails. Being able to see details and the hint without leaving navigation is a huge step forward, and one that's long overdue. Thank you.
  2. Is this a common problem, or is it like voter fraud, i.e. a risk but a very small one? With a standard cache anyone can say they've found it a upload a log, but in practice very few people do that because there's no point. The only people they're cheating are themselves, and most cachers have the sense to realise that.
  3. I was out with my family yesterday and noticed that there was an AL where we were. I have the AL app on my phone; the others don't; none of us have unlimited data allowances so didn't know if the others could download the app at the time. There were four of us. We all put in the effort to find the answers and all of us thus completed the AL. With a standard cache, one person can carry the GPSr/phone and all can log the find later. My family has four geocachers: often one of us navigates to the cache; one keeps the cache page open; one interprets the hint; the other does the retrieval. Full logs can be uploaded once we've got home. With the AdLab, however, it seems that although four of us did the walk and found the answers, I'm the only one who can claim the finds because I had the app open at the time. Is there a reason for this? It would be good if there were a way for the rest of the family, who did just as much work as I did, to also claim the find. Am I missing something, or is it the case that for all four of us to 'find' the AdLab we'd all need to have the app open on our respective devices and go through the stages separately? Is this something that will be addressed in the future? We can't be the only ones affected by this. Thank you.
  4. Thank you for directing me to the dashboard. You'll notice, if you look at yours, that there is a column for Last Found. Granted, you can also see the last three types of log - but what I want to know is not when the cache was last found, but when it was last LOGGED. A log can be a find, but it can also be a note or a DNF. I'm not interested in when my caches were last found: I'm interested in what happened last time someone looked for them This is why I'm asking for a LAST LOGGED either instead of or in addition to LAST FOUND.
  5. I appreciate being able to go to my profile on the website and see when one of my caches was last found; however I would find it a great deal more useful to be able to see when each cache was last logged. Email notifications usually arrive fairly promptly, but not always. I would love to be able to see at a glance when my caches were last logged: that way I could easily keep an eye on things like DNFs and notes. I'm not sure I've got the right forum to post this: if there's a better one let me know and I'll redo it. Thank you.
  6. It's infuriating that souvenirs are arranged alphabetically, with no option to change the order. I'd like to be able to sort them into date order or group order and I'd like the 'hide' function to actually work. Would it be so bad to make the souvenir page editable, so we can arrange the souvenirs as we wish?
  7. I'm glad someone else has asked this question. I'm struggling to understand how anyone knows there's an AL in place at all, because the only thing to tell people seems to be the existence of a question mark if the AL setter has included a physical bonus cache. I'm struggling with my AL because I want to add a bonus - but there are already caches to close to the end of my trail, and putting the bonus somewhere else could extend the walk by a fair bit. The obvious answer is to add an AL icon to the GC map, so that everyone knows there's something to be found or looked at. Otherwise, what's the point?
  8. It's not necessarily a new problem. According to the app on my Android phone, I have one draft; the relevant page on the website reveals five. It's been that way for a few weeks, if not months. I agree with the OP that with all the technological know-how at the disposal of the people at Groundspeak, this ought not to be an issue.

    Souvenirs

I knew that if I looked I'd find this subject had already come up - and I wasn't disappointed. I would like to be able to arrange souvenirs into some semblance of order. My daughter plays an online game called Dragon Cave, and she can arrange her 'dragons' in any order she wants. It's a free game and loads really quickly; it's not at all graphics-intensive. I mention this because I assume that if players being able to change the order were difficult it would not be a feature of a free game run by, I think, one person. If that one person can include a 'custom arrange' in a relatively small game, can't the website people at Groundspeak do the same? Please?
  10. I have trackables that I will never leave in a cache. I bought them because - Shiny!! - and I take them to events for other people to see and (if they want to) admire. They can take a note of the tracking reference ('number') and write a log to say they've seen (discovered) it at the event. One day I'll get round to taking photographs of these trackables, and I'll laminate them with a readable copy of the tracking reference. The copies can then be released into a cache to travel far and wide, while I've still got the original safe and sound. An example is a limited edition Geocoin that I have. People like to see it because it's limited edition, so I take it to events and let people look at it and note the reference code. It's very special to me, so it will never leave my possession. One day I'll photograph it and write the code more clearly (it's tiny), and I'll put the picture in a cache. Its mission will be to travel as far as possible, but the original was earned, so it will stay with me. If I now tell you that its tracking code is TB1A2B3C (it isn't) you and everyone else can look up that code and claim to have seen it when you haven't. You don't get anything for that, but you might want to do it anyway... which will annoy me and could well annoy other people as well. It would be like claiming to have found a cache when in fact you've been nowhere near it: it's 'not done' and is considered bad manners. You're not alone in being confused about trackables. When you find one in a cache it will all become a lot clearer Meanwhile the 'collectible' or not thing continues to cause endless confusion, especially for people who care about spelling and grammar (sigh). Best advice? Go out and enjoy geocaching. When you actually come across a trackable things will be easier to understand.
  11. You're not the only one by a long way! I can't help thinking that different terminology might make life a great deal easier, since 'collectable' and non-collectable' are pretty well meaningless. Does anyone seriously put TBs out intending other people to keep them? Probably not, because they're not cheap. Change the wording please, Groundspeak. Make it easier to understand for everyone.
  12. This is my take on the situation: Scenario 1 Claiming a find: I can't climb trees, but my son can. If I am caching with him and he goes up a tree to retrieve a cache I am more than happy for him to write my name on it as well as his, and I'll claim a find because although I can't climb up myself I can watch him and give him guidance about where he might place his feet and hands. As his 'safety net', I'll have participated in the find although I didn't physically go up myself. Note - This has yet to happen. Being able to climb doesn't necessarily mean he wants to! Scenario 2 (this one has happened) Not claiming a find: I'm with a large group of people after an event in a local woodland park. One of our number climbs the tree and I stand around chatting to other group members. I don't do anything at all to help with the find; I leave that to one or two close friends of the climber. I don't claim a find because even though I'm part of the group I have done nothing to assist him except to cheer when he is back down on the ground.
