  1. A lot of very sensible comments and replies here. I agree that this is a rash move and one that could jeopardise the game and the social aspect as it have been successfully played for a long time. Why fix something that isn't broken? During a camping weekend event like the South Wales Annual Camping event I find that the small events form the glue, the listings on the geocaching website give me the timetable I need to make sure I am in the correct places at the right times. Normally there are a variety of going ons that appeal to different people and quite often here in the SW annual event some people will make a day trip and attend only one of the events, one that will appeal to them. There are other aspects of the geocaching game that need fixing like caches on dog poo bins - THEY POSE A SERIOUS RISK TO CHILD HEALTH for crying out loud
  2. my iPhone has ANT+ built-in... It works with the Nike+ sensor that goes in the shoe. Will this work with the GeoBeacon or do I still need the external Fiscia dongle @ $80 - seems a bit silly to have an external module when it is built into the iphone and the ipod touch Thanks in advance! Em
  3. Point well made. I guess I need to turn off "Grumpy" mode. While I won't be joining you, have a great time, I'm sure it'll be fun. p.s. Interesting, I tried to add more smileys but apparently there's a limit!! Glad to hear that Grumpy mode is now off! As for a Flash Mob - try it, you might be suprised - I had the biggest grin on my face ever when I attended the last WWFM held at Brecon during the last South Wales Camping Event! Utter sillyness - mad as a mad thing! Just like the hobby! I have to add that the biggest thing I have had out of this hobby is making some great new friends, doing something silly with that group of friends for 15 mins then laughing it off at a campsite or bbq after was sheer tonic itself! Bring it on, with luck I will be there! Can't wait to have a go to organise one myself one day. Em
  4. GC1WW9N BPJC: Y Graig is live! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...ba-da72bbba4415 Thank you! Whoop Whoop! Em
  5. My BPJC: Y Graig didn't make the Hawk like eyes of Graculus... I have been to GZ to sort out the minor niggle, I guess it will be next week now before it makes it into the competition. Sorry about this, it wasn't my intention to let it this late in the day to get it live! Wish I had known about the challenge sooner - this is my first time really into this forum, and it was only by accident that I popped when I did! Thank you for all the fun... Enjoy the Mega - I am working in Peterborough so I doubt I will make it there myself. If I do it will be quite late on the Sunday. Kindest regards Em
  6. I have two new caches waiting for review also! GC1WRPP - BPJC: Margam Milestone, A48 and GC1WW9N - BPJC: Y Graig I am very excited by the later *devious smirk* It hadn't crossed my mind that they might not be reviewed in time! *gulp*
  7. yes and let us NOT forget by whom it was refused!!!!! Somebody who is holding a BPJC EVENT!!!! I smell a rat! hahahahahaha Don't take any notice of me, I am just a sore loser who likes to point out the injustices of this world! teee heee
  8. I have just bought a packet of those! I might pop them in a jiffy bag and post them right now Mr Birdman (a mad GeoCacher) Liskeard Cornwall I bet you a fiver they will get there - eventually! LOL
  9. Birdman - GC status was refused as expected - Am willing to resort to bribery now like the Blorenges have already done to get their event BPJC passed the no event rule! What is your price? A jar of peaches? Two jars of peaches? Em
  10. I also chuck in a small trophy for FTF - this is something a local cacher here in South Wales does for most of his caches, it is a nice touch I feel and I try to do the same! Pack of four from Mr Tesco = £1 Add a label to the trophy saying 'FTF - Cache name'
  11. Party favours from your local supermarket make good trinkets for swaps, as do all those bits you have in the drawer from things like Christmas crackers - I have put books (tagged on Bookcrossing.com first) into caches, and am thinking of putting in some of the smaller childrens' books we have left around the place now that Neath Kid is much older. As for the actual cache box... Tesco are selling clip lock boxes half price at the moment... On another thread here that is popular at the moment Birdman is advocating Peach Jars (about 1Kg in size), have tried it... you get the goodness of the fruit and a free container that is watertight to make a cache... win win Plastic tubs like this can be rubbed down with sand paper, painted with a plastic primer (spray), then painted any colour you choose - very effective! You can also get stone effect paint... All very effective and cunning! LOL Camo bags, ammo boxes from your local army surplus store, Web-Tex do a 3 part Stow Bag set, these are excellent cammo bags, just the right size for a tupperware. These can be found in good camping and military shops. The retail for about £5 to £7.50. they make the cache very difficult to see LOL A Google search on making a geocache will yield amazing tips and tricks - have a look on YouTube search for geocache or geocaching and you will gets lot of tutorial videos about making and setting caches Good luck, enjoy and have fun! Em
  12. submitted my first jar (the roving one) for GC status - wait and see if the reviewers will be kind or not! Preseli
  13. Clever and devious this may be but, currently, in my book this is a Travel Bug.. unless it's registered as a cache with a GC number then it's not a cache. Awaits to see if gets approval Awwwwww.... a mobile cache full of trades and goodies and packed with coins to be discovered too! And me on my way to the Wales 2011 Megga Mutter now with the chance of lots of dicoveries! Hmphhhhh.... going to sulk now! tee hee
  14. My first entry... bending the rules a little but here we go BPJC: Mobile Cache TB http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?tracker=TB29MCF Nobody has objected yet... so why not?! It is jammed full of trades right now, and for discovering only, my own personal collection of coins - I will remove those before letting it travel. I have a couple of ideas for regular BPJC caches... hope I can get them out in time! Kindest regards! Preseli
  15. Thinking aloud.... I was wondering if a Peach Jar Mobile Cache TB would qualify??? LOL
  16. Jar of peaches procured - working my way through it... Yum, had forgotten how good tinned (jarred) peaches are, used to eat loads of them as a kid! Fun idea! Em
  17. count me in... how do I find out about South Wales events???? Preseli
