  1. Shortest routes (with easements) between two civilized points. The shorter the distance, the less wire that has to be bought and a shorter ditch to dig. But dont you think that it yould have higher mainence costs because you have to 5 or 10 miles into the woods to do repairs?

  5. What i am doing is just for fun. he said if you go off of the benchmark to a spot in your yard, you could then find the exact ellavation for everything in your yard. plus you could make a detailed map of the distance from one object to another. Plus, if you know how to do some of the basics you could see how exact it elevation is from mark to mark. PS I live near an abanded R/R bed so the area is rich with marks. All this is a little hobbie that i might look in to just to have a little fun!
  6. Does any one know the procedures for surveying with a transit and rod? what about a different way to find distance other than a tape? what about purchasing the equiptment either used or gov't surplus. This all adds up to... One day i was talking to some one in town and he said there was a way to survey a line from a benchmark near your house to a point at your house. from there you could accurtly map out your entire yard. Any sugestions?
  7. When You destroy a mark what happens to the mark after you remove it? Do you send it in or do you keep it? After reading the rest of your post it answered my own question.
