  1. I know here in OZ there are a number of seasoned cachers that have created a Trade Fair Business card and they insert this into their seal locked bags with log books to try and discourage trading down. I will look into doing the same thing as it is discouraging to look at others cache's and see what has become of them. I suppose that is why 'Virgin' Caches are so popular.
  2. I must admit that as a new cacher I was really disappointed to see what some people had traded for. I am currently spending a small fortune on bits and bobs for setting up cahces and also for swaps. But thoroughly enjoying it! I see that here in OZ there are a number of seasoned cachers that place business cards outlining the need to trade fair. One would think it should not be necessary. Sad really. The other noticeable happening is that a lot of people just do the find and do no swaps. I suppose it means you can go lighter?! Just to add another question - what are your thoughts on those that trade condoms with other items. I have more concerns with the safety aspects as with the extreme weather conditions the may not last the testing grounds! I have seen some logs where parents have been a bit embarressed to explain to their kids what a franger is.
  3. Maybe some analysis could be taken on what causes the burn out so that it can be avoided. As a tadpole to these forums and only new to Geocaching the motivation levels are really high. I too am concerned about burn out long term - and also burning out all friends and family that have no understanding of the thrill of the hunt! Just a thought though................. Do you think it can be the negativity in the forums that can start it??
  4. I have been trying this for 20 minutes now and have not succeeded. I will need to trade my teenager in for the latest model. I thought teenagers new everything!
  5. What's your view of a cache placed in a public library....in a book on the topic of geocaching, catalogued and positioned according to the dewey system?
