  1. There is something a little funky going on here, I think it might have something to do with this: http://geocaching.com/map/beta ????
  2. Add Some reflective tape to the side of the GPS, Makes it easier to find at night! Yes im speaking from experience!
  3. Thanks Bernard, yes i have seen this, but is it possible to add a rule to ALL caches rather than just individual ones? As doing this individually would be extremely time consuming as it is often the case that i will have over 300 - 400 caches loaded!
  4. Had the Garmin 60cx for well over a year now and am very impressed with it! But i do have one question, is it possible to have the GPS alert you when you are approaching a school zone for example? Or to show the speed limits for the area? I have City Navigator Australia installed and shonky maps. Also, are there any guides that explain how to setup proximity alerts. Say to alert if there is a Geocache within 1km from current location? Thanks! PacketStorm4
  5. He DOES have a point, can you honestly imagine walking through the bush to find something like that? Hahah, would be extremely funny on our behalf! Maybe not so for the person involved.... Never the less i love it!
  6. Mate and i have been questioned twice, One guy was like "yeah whatever" and let us go, Another made us wait 40 min for the police to show up, turns out they were geocachers too!
  7. haha same ive got it bookmarked check it every couple of days
  8. Yer i also fond a condom, no biggie, left it for the next person......
  9. Looks like its going to be the Legend HCX for me too, shot of an email to a few places regarding getting it to Australia from the US Sooooo much cheaper! Just need to decide where to get it
  10. Just once again regarding the Garmin GPS, The 'High sensitivity receiver' is this worth spending the little extra for? Is it noticeable to have? The WAAS isnt a huge biggie because we kinda don't have many (2 - which arnt always available) Frustrating - I just carnt decide! Thanks!
  11. Got the cold when out in the rain on my bike, Its cold this time of year in Australia!
  12. And trust me its not comfortable! Currently looking at doing this, have had a look on Amazon, seen some great prices! (compared to ours) and am currently deciding wether its a good idea (i think it is!) There is 1 problem, i seem to get this error *** We're sorry. 13. Hello again all, Ive been seeking my own GPS now as i kinda have to return the one i've borrowed....... Ive been looking at the Garmin eTrex GPS's. But when i was in Rays outdoors today, ive been offerd a USED Magellan Meridian gold for AUD$250 is this a good thing? or should i still look for the eTrex? I cannot find anywhere in my city that sells these devices. Thanks PacketStorm4
  14. Got a Demolitions yard nearby? I got one from a Telstra yard once....... Or maybe drop into your local electrical supplier they will have it all. But be prepared to pay for it
  15. Sure! ive borrowed a Garmin GPS map 76S Ill take 2 on what i was trying to say! Basically when i put a coordinate into the GPS, the last 3 digits of South and East will not go past 5, thats as in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, when the coordinate might be .670 what do i do then?!?! **EDIT: Didnt see the bit by andy, you seem to have done the trick, i have coordinates of a know location, shall test 'em out tomorrow! thanks!
  16. Hello fellow geocachers! Im new to the sport and am really enjoying it! However, i have mainly been using Google earth to locate the caches. I have a GPS that i have borrowed, but it will only count up to 60, because there are only 60 seconds and minutes. Rather frustrating for a new geocacher not being able to put the coords into the GPS! How can the ones on the site or the ones calculated in the field, be calculated to fit into this scheme? And do all GPS's work like this? Im about to go out and purchase my own, been looking at the Garmin extrex series - a good buy? Thanks! PacketStorm4
  17. Hehe, i have done this a few times while at school, im currently using (borrowing) a Garmin 76s and seem to be having a little trouble with it. Looking at getting my own (sorry to hijack the thread) but whats available in Australia that you would recommend? I think i have seen those orange Etrex around at dick smith. Good buy?
