  1. I am pretty new here and there might be a board like this on Groundspeak, but I really dug on www.gamefaqs.com they would have "serious" boards and social boards. The social boards would be way off topic but it was nice to post silly ideas, and other off topic threads. Is there something like that at Groundspeak? I really know it is juvenile, but sometimes it is fun to throw out a crazy post, as long as they are civil and not vulgar. Doesn't the idea of a Geocache Social Board sound somewhat appealing? I know it probably sounds like a nightmare to the moderators! Just an idea!
  2. My name is geoguyver. I received my first GPS this Christmas and am a major newbie. I use a Rino 110 and live in Rochester, MN. I am almost 31, (birthday is on Sunday), am married, (for almost four years), and my wife and I have one beautiful little girl who is 2.3 years old. I am a Professional Finishing Marketing Manager. Long title, little paycheck!
  3. I am interested to see how big some people make them!
  4. GIVE UP NOW! J/K! I can totally relate to the "No Finds." I went out on New Year's Eve Day and found a few but I went to one cache site without reading up like I should and found a padlock on the cache. Went home read up and found out it was a multi-cache. Did my homework, went back and still didn't get the padlock to open! I guess I didn't do the homewrok to well... That is the beauty of geocaching. Besides being fun, it can really teach a person patience and to be prepared. Best of luck to on the "FTF!" I am sure you will get one soon!

  6. Oh man! I wanted to try a crack at the coin! Oh well, Great Job NavDog!
  7. I guess every cacher is different. Some say "no big deal since he is cheating himself" and others want a person accountable and or penalized. I am real new to this but I would email the person and ask them for an explanation (as if there would be one.) Pretty cool you caught the person in the sham though, good job!
  8. I received a Garmin Rino for Xmas and have not been able to try the transfer location feature since I do not know anyone else with a Rino model. Would like to see if there is anyone in Rochester area to test this feature out. Please let me know if you are interested in meeting within a two-mile area! Thanks!
  9. That is good to hear! I just received my first GPS for Xmas. I received a Rino 110 and am really loving it so far. I think starting out with any model is great. I also bought a sling backpack to keep my stuff in while caching. I bought this model off of ebay new. The cel phone pocket in the front sling fits the Garmin Rino brands perfectly. I told my father-in-law about the 130 since he is in the market for one now too.
  10. Since there are only 12 days to Christmas this thought popped into my head. Even though the "Big Guy" doesn't need one, I think he uses a GPS for the fun of it. What do you think?
  11. Hey Hornhunter: Have you tried the Rino's yet? I asked for one for Christmas and was wondering what you thought. The Rino will be my first GPS and I like the 2-way radio features. Please let me know! GeoGuyver
  12. Thanks for the good tips Spider Woman. I am just learning about geocaching myself and those are some good tips. Best regards! geoguyver
  13. Thanks for all the good ideas! I currently use a Powerbook laptop G3 at home and a Powerbook G4 laptop at home. I have Virtual PC on both and might try those first. If not too much luck I will try some of the Mac based softwares. Thanks all!
  14. You are correct on assuming it was the Rino 110 I had on my wish list. I haven't done too much research on the Geko line.
  15. Hi: I was wondering if any geochachers use a Mac with their GPS. I am real new to this and have a guess there aren't many out their that do. Also any tips on good software (Mac or PC) to use would be appreciated! Thanks!
  16. HI: I'm a newbie and have asked for a Garmin 110 for Christmas. I am getting pretty anxious! Are there any other GPSr's out there that use this model? I was also interested to see if there are any good Mac based GPS mapping programs. I might have to start a thread and see what folks say. I hope Santa is good to you! geoguyver
