  1. No, no I do not. That might be the downfall of geogguyver in the future though.
  2. Fine by me. That's my neighbor's lawn. Yeah, he would mow that kind of stuff, wouldn't he... that silly neighbor!
  3. What I would like on every cache page is the cache coordinates, parking coordinates, the closest movie theatre coordinates, and the closest Subway restaurant coordinates! Can you do that please? Seriously though, Just the cache coordinates are important to me. I do like the name of the park if the cache is in one. I would never expect the Cache Keeper to provide that info all the time.
  4. Would it be ok to mow messages to pilots in your lawn?
  5. Yep, no locations in Minnesota either. <crosses fingers>
  6. A little detour from getting stuck. This vehicle has no problem getting stuck while geocaching. It does though have a problem with stormtroopers attacking while geocaching...
  7. By "alot," how many do mean? When I leave a card I do not trade with it. If I take something from a cache I leave something of equal value or worth more. The signature card is just for reference. I think more geocachers do this than leave a card and take a $2.00 item.
  8. You might want to contact nevadageocaching.com. Most of the membership is from the Las Vegas area, they are very helpfull to visiting geocachers. Thanks for the tip! I will try contacting them. My presentation is done on Wednesday AM and I should have Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning to try and hunt around.
  9. I am looking forward to my seminar in Las Vegas next week due to the crap load out there. Most by the hotel are virtual caches but only 5 or so miles to a traditional cache. Viva Las Caches!
  10. I just got back from a seminar and planned on visiting a couple of caches in the area but never got time. I just wanted to see how many others take a little time to go out when on a business trips.
  11. I have a card made up to leave at caches, but I have placed a geocache logo on it. I have been trying to search the forums for the usage rights and have not come up with any terms yet. Has anyone seen a thread about using the logo?
  12. <cheers for Team GPSaxophone> Congratulations on your new milestone!
  13. LOL Who rocks the house?!? Amish Hacker rocks the house!
  14. Doesn't sound too harsh! There is a pretty difficult one up north by me. I haven't gotten up to this location yet but it does seem pretty cool. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...3b-017fd1b9fce4
  15. Yeah, I checked out orienteer. No offense taken friend. I just wasn't sure what that had to do with cold weather and batteries. I am going to check out more on orienteering though. Thanks!
  16. Whewwwwwwwwwww, at least it wasn't the anal probes again!! <nods happily>
  17. My recommendation to you would be to learn to orienteer and use a map. Umm... yeah... thanks.
  18. LITHIUM batteries will give good performance down to about minus 40°F. They also have a 10 year shelf life and very good service life. I typically get 30 hrs use from a set of AAs in my Garmin V. A set of 8 costs about $16 USD at WalMart. That works out to about 27 cents per hour for batteries that will never let you down. I wouldn't use anything else. Thanks for the tip! I ended up going out today to look for a benchmark that was close to my office. The temperature today is 3º with a windchill of -12º. I was only out for 25 minutes so it wasn't too bad at all!
  19. That's sounds awesome! How many folks were there participating? Have you posted a story about the day? Would definately like to read. If you do please let me know. Thanks!
  20. Somewhat cold today in Minnesota. About 10:00 a.m. it was 12º F with a windchill of -4º. I didn't make it out to do any caching today but I wondered what temperatures geocachers have braved to hunt down a cache. Any one have tips to keep their batteries from slowing down in the cold weather?
  21. Is this a good thing??? Well I am pretty lazy, definately on Sunday mornings, but I found this thread that seemed popular: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...56787&hl=social I don't want to be too radical since I have been visiting this site for less than two months. I just know that I liked reading the social boards on other sites. I know geocachers would have some extremely funny thoughts on life and the world around them that I would enjoy to read. I do know though that if you always take "NO!" as your answer you sometimes miss out on some good things. IMO. Have a great day!
  22. Well welcome to the game. You may want to search the forum for past discussions about an off-topic section in the forums. If you don't feel like doing that, I can give you the readers digest version -- NO! The folks that run this website don't feel it is necessary or fits into their vision of how they want things to run so it ain't goin' happen. But you should try searching the posts to get a better feel for how this has played out over time. I will try to search out some of the prior topics upon your suggestion. But your "Readers Digest" version was read. I probably wouldn't say "it ain't goin' happen" though. If enough premium members request one social forum and a member voluntered to moderate it, it should not be an issue. But I am speaking again without researching all the logs that have been posted before. I better get to it. Thanks!
  23. <Has mental image of clearpath turning his "fruit of the looms" into a fudge-factory> That FTF would scare the heck out of me too! When I put together my first cache I will make a mental note to leave out the knives, grenades and nuclear warheads!
  24. Great topic! I was wondering this myself. How many folks have bought their boots/shoes through Ebay?
