  1. OK, I got the code ARXXXX and activated it. Now what? I have an item that I'd like to send traveling. Can I get a travel bug printed with my Mary Hyde code? If I make a dogtag with my code and "trackable at Geocaching.org" will that make my homemade tag a trackable.
  2. I think I just found the answer to not seeing all the caches that were downloaded but it leads to another question. Pressed the filter icon on the Oregon, then selected all. The 5 hidden caches have now appeared as the standard green box. But the other caches are now large brown boxes. What is the difference? I did not ask the Oregon to display found caches, these big brown caches are also unfound ones.
  3. I've been using pocket queries that are sent to my email address. I download the file, then upload the gpx file to the Oregon gpx folder. Not a terribly experienced geocacher, but have loaded well over 10,000 geocaches. We travel alot so tend to load lots of geocaches in areas we are going to visit. And we haven't gone into too much detail on missing geocaches on the Oregon until recently. Now that we are back home we've been looking closely at geocaches nearby. I updated our local area with 10 PQs and the map looks full. But there are about 5 caches along a main hwy that just don't load. I centered a PQ on top of one, then uploaded the gpx to the Oregon...nope that cache nor the 4 others nearby did not load. I made a route 10 miles long connecting the 5 caches, they all were shown in map view. But loaded to my device they were absent. I tried sending the caches 1 at a time to my device with no better results. All 5 caches are active, I have not found, and no other filters were used. On the Oregon map I look for them by name or zoomed in to 0.2 miles. They are not there. Any suggestions, anyone else with this experience?
  4. I have a Google Nexus 7, any cable solutions for that model? We will be soon traveling to FL and I've been loading caches into our Oregon 600 anywhere we'll stop for a day. We'll not be taking the laptop and only the tablets for internet. Sure would be nice if there was a mobile solution.
  5. I'm really new at this but loading geocaches hasn't been a problem. Run a pocket query, have it sent by email to you. Open email and then the download, and watch it unzip, then click on the unzipped folder. Close the email screen, click on computer, click on the GPS, click on Garmin, now click back on the unzipped file folder and grab the *.gpx and drag to the gpx folder in the Garmin. Copies in no problem. I have Windows 7 and a Garmin Oregon 600. Moving files like this is no different from moving files in a camera or SD card to a folder on the computer.
  6. Thanks, I did go the the screen once I set goto, but never looked at hints. Thanks
  7. We're new to geocaching and have a new Oregon 600. Using PQs centered around my home and asking for lists of caches I get my 500 (or what ever number selected) of geocaches. Hit download, the PG results gets sent to my email, then open the email, hit download file in the email, then open the unzipped files and I see gsx files and waypoint files. I have been loading only the gsx files into the gsx file folder in the garmin, and as a test I just loaded the waypoint file into the gsx folder in the garmin. Then I disconnect the gps and look at the files downloaded in the garmin. I have the GC codes, coordinates, descriptions and the last 5 logs. But no hints! How do I get hints to also download? My one guru on geocaching and downloads only uses GSAK and says that is the only answer. Am I putting the waypoint file in the wrong garmin folder?
  8. The cache is in an exceedingly remote area. 4x4s used to be able to drive in but there has been no road maintenance for 5+ years. The road is washed out. Quads and side by sides can still access the road but we frankly see more bear tracks than wheel tracks. We're hikers and this cache is on one of our longer hikes. Cache is said the be a plastic ice cream container, looks to be at least a pint size container in the posted pictures. No, I am not in contact with the owners, they have been non responsive. Due to the remoteness and difficulty of reaching this cache there likely will be few to none DNFs in the future.
  9. I live in a fairly remote area and my nearest cache was established in 2001. There were fairly frequent visits until 2010, then 1 visit in 2013. Tried to find it 2 times now and as absolute beginners, we could just be unfamiliar with this type of hide. I posted a DNF in early July, no response from the owner. Posted another one today. Then sent a message to the owner, only to discover they live out of state, several hundred miles away. They have not been active at Geocaching for many years. How does Geocaching.com declare caches inactive or in need of maintenance?
