  1. Nobby nobbs, you've been talking to Vivian haven't you! If you want a go in a Qpod just ask. They are great fun, just waiting for the snow now. . Gary
  2. I got a dvd off ebay that contained tons of stuff for the xda 11. Not sure it was all "ok", but it did what it said on the tin, all for about £7 I think. So many applications and games that I still haven't tried then all yet. Gary
  3. We, (well me ) use an XDA 11. It does the lot! Loaded with tom tom and fugawi with maps on sd cards. Got a cable to link it with our Legend and off we go. when out in the field we can dial up our isp and log caches or get clues etc. Also a pretty good mobile phone but it is a bit bulky, and expensive to buy Could get a bargin on e-bay though.
  4. Congrates from us just down the road.
  5. Xmas.........must be time to do some more Cornish Caches! Any excuse to aviod in-laws Problem is all the kids want to come too Last year we picked up a TB to take back up country, only to find that it had gone to Cornwall from a cache only a few miles from our home! Kiteflyer
  6. Just another thought, what happens if you are going up or down a hill? Isn't GPS measured on a flat plain? So using some greek guys theory you would have faster land speed on an incline than what the GPS was reading I think thats right, anyway Kiteflyer
  7. Ummmmmm........ Believe it or not number 13 is Me and number 1 son Moral of the story is don't trust number two son with camera Kiteflyer Wife said she'd recognise that face anywhere
  8. I am sure that you can connect a mobile phone to your laptop via cable or infrared. Then you can connect to internet at about 10p per minute. You maybe able to use your isp that you use now. Its not fast but it works. Gary
  9. Researched here a bit and found that an XDA (not 2) can be got for under £150. This will do the same as my XDA2 but hasn't got the camera/video player, and a little less memory, but still I reckon a good buy. Gary
  10. The rangies nearly gave it all away Sorry folks we've got the wick hill one at the moment . Now.............................where shall we take it to?
  11. We use an XDA2 which has internet explorer on it. All you need is the details of your ISP and a mobile phone signal. If your on pay as you go it's about 10p a minute, but the XDA2 is expensive to buy. Gary
  12. Keep this quiet, but we're off to get one this morning . Watch someone beat us to it now!
  13. Very sorry to hear this, our thoughts are with his family
  14. yes Domheknows, its a 4.9 m2 blade. Grey with orange tips. Great for kite boarding and being dragged along a sandy beach! With stronger winds I downsize to 2.6 m2, just to keep my feet on the ground
  15. Just quietly caching along and then this Thank you for all your support and also a big thank you to all of you out there that place the caches Can do 100 if there not there. Many thanks Kiteflyer
  16. We got our legend because A. it's a gadget! and B. So that my wife and her friend could tell how far and fast they walked when they were training for the Moonwalk last year. (charity walk for breast cancer 26 miles around London at night wearing a bra!) Then a work mate (Posties brother-in-law I think) told me about this geocaching lark and here we are now! Kiteflyer
  17. Sorry about this being a tech question, but you guys have always helped me out so far. My casio em 500 does not want to "talk" to my haicom gpsr running TT3. Tried every setting going but there doesn't seem to be any connection between the two. The red light flashes on the GPSr so it has power. I know on my xda2 there is a box to tick if you want to connect anything to it and was wondering if this is the same with the casio. Of course, maybe the casio will not run TT3 and gpsr. Any help gratefully recieved as this is driving me mad!! Many thanks Gary and Jane (kiteflyer)
  18. We use an XDA2, which is a phone with internet explorer on it, so we just dial up our isp and log the cache . Expensive bit of kit though . Gary
  19. We use a legend linked to an XDA2 running fugawi. Like others have said, we only turn it on to check where we are or to find the footpaths when doing multi's. Its not very good in the wet weather though! . Sometimes I do wish I had another pair of hands but it has helped us out more than once or twice, so I say that it is worth it. Also the XDA2 allows us to log the cache straight away. Hope this is of help Gary
  20. Hi Mr Womble, That brings back memories!! Took my Aunt out with us as She was born and bred around here. Any way, Number 2 is the Kiteflyers, amazed we are in the frame as little 'flyer took the photo. Many thanks Gary and Jane (Kiteflyer)

  23. sat here for ten minutes trying to work out how to explain the possible ways of doing this, but just getting my self more confused The way I load up my card is to get the converted map file from my com/program files/common files/fugawi/export. and just drag and drop it into the card on the pda when it is conected. hope this helps if not send me your phone no. and will try to talk you through it on the phone Gary
  24. We only use a sticker, but would be very happy to send you one. Just e-mail me an address. Gary and Jane
  25. Neil, I'm shouting!! I've got the Garmin cable going to an adapter and then the XDA2 cable going to from that to the XDA2. The XDA says port error on com 1, but will let me open com 2. The port open sign shows on the screen but that is all. I would like to show position on the map when it works!! Tried setting garmin to Garmin and nmea out and in, but still will not work. Never heard of the software you mentioned, will go and look for it. Many thanks Gary
