  1. 0. I kicked the darn thing cos it was right out in the open!
  2. I'm so sorry about your lost bag. I would be soooooo bummed! Especially since I carry my camera in there! Where do you live? I go to comic conventions, gather up the free stuff and use those as swag or sometimes even gumball machine toys. -BK
  3. I have one in my front yard that can be grabbed from the sidewalk because... 1. most people feel uncomfortable about going into someone's yard and 2. I don't want to be sued if said cacher trips over something, smashes into my tree and pokes their eye out on one of my one dozen or so wind chimes. -BK
  4. I love keychains! Any kind! Especially if they have kitties on them! -BK
  5. I found a very expensive two way radio with a microphone, the kind police wear, near a high fence with a 'No Trespassing' sign posted on it. Apparently someone jumped the fence to find the cache that was actually part of the fence itself and lost their radio. I advertised it for 30 days but no one claimed it so I sold it on eBay and made $300. Not a bad caching day. -BK
  6. Not only do I keep a journal, I keep a scrapbook. I really gotta get a life! -BK
  7. My cache got stolen last week. It was a rusty hand painted Altoids tin with nothing in it but a log and a broken pencil. I would have suspected my gardener but this tin was set inside of a stepping stone that I made so someone had to actually wrench the tin out of the stone! People are weird! -BK
  8. I log every item I have ever taken and keep them in a treasure chest for future review. I either buy swag or obtain items from conventions that I attend and trade these items for whatever is in the cache that I find. It always brings back happy memories of caches that I've found when I look into my treasure chest! -BK
  9. I don't actually delete my DNF log. I just add a note saying that I finally 'found it'. Some of DNFs remain DNFs. If I believe that the cache is actually missing, I will notify the owner. Shoulda proof read my post! -BK
  10. I carry pins, toys, small action figures and memorabilia that I get for free at the Comicon and people seem to love them. When I run across a trashy cache, I dump out all of the contents and put in my own stuff to make it nice again. Some people are just plain selfish. When you invite the general public to play, you have to accept the fact that a few are going to spoil it for the rest. Sad but true. -BK
  11. Here's the kicker. Someone stole my cache in my front yard and it was just a rusty painted tin with a log in it! Some people are just mean. But like the others said, it's part of being a cache owner. I get more bummed that my log is gone than the trinkets in it because I use put the pages of my log in my scrapbook. -BK
  12. Yep, broke my leg in two places stepping into a gopher hole and spent four months in a wheelchair. -BK
  13. I log all of my DNFs and if I get to try again, then I change my DNF to a Found It. -BK
  14. Nothing will stop an unscrupulous (sp?) person from stealing your coin or TB. I actually met a fellow cacher when I was placing my own TB in my cache. She commented on how 'cute' it was, showed it to her children, took it and I never heard from her or my TB again. If you have an attachment to a geocoin or TB, DON'T CIRCULATE IT! -BK
  15. Excellent idea! I'm in for a couple! -BK
  16. Depends on the muggle. If they ask about my GPSr, I tell them about the game. I NEVER show them where the cache is. Once I held my GPSr up to my ear and pretended it was my cell phone. Once I told someone that I dropped a quarter. Once I told someone I was looking for a buried Altoid tin cos I ate too much garlic and needed a mint. -BK
  17. I was putting one of my TBs into my cache when a cacher showed up, talked to me, took it and I never saw it again! She logged it in as a find and I've sent her emails for the past 3 months but no avail! My poor dad's ring is lost forever! It's so #$%^* annoying!!!! -BK
  18. You could report this person to ebay if this listing offends you that much and they (ebay) will pull the listing. Reporting activity like this will force people to be honest. Just a suggestion. -BK
  19. I do the bead thing too and if the location is near a national park or landmark, I get one of those 'badges' that you can nail on to your hiking stick. I've covered two walking sticks so far. =BK
  20. A brand new professional two way walkie talkie radio and a motorcycle helmet. Apparently, someone tried to hop a high fence and dropped the radio and the helmet (didn't they notice???). Whoever the stuff belonged to probably didn't want to admit that they hopped a fence (in a restricted area, mind you) in search of a cache. So after two weeks of advertising, I sold the lot for a tidy sum. It was the most profitable cache I ever went after! -BK
  21. I found one near SeaWorld (San Diego) that had a walking stick nearby so that you could 'poke' the thing out of the crotch of a tree. Wouldn't have been so bad except that it was a very heavy ammo can. Wonder how many people have been killed or suffered severe head trauma by this cache??? -BK
  22. I found one in Coronado (San Diego). It was an ammo can and when you opened it, this 'FURBIE' started to talk.... LOUDLY.... Scared the bejesus out of me! 1st, I don't like animatronics of any kind! 2nd, I don't like animatronics of any kind! I couldn't sign the log fast enough so I could close the lid! -BK
  23. Could be worse. The tampon could've been used! I actually found a sanitary napkin in one cache. NOT WRAPPED!
  24. I've had 3 out at one time and they were all very nice TBs. I did not have to mutilate them in any way. I think I just got the right cachers who respected their wish to travel and took joy in posting pictures instead of stealing them. I do not use TBs that would entice a child and they are all very tiny and fit in a micro so maybe that's why they've never been nicked. I've found a couple of TBs in my time that I sorely wanted to keep but instead I emailed the owner and asked them where I might obtain a similar object that I could purchase for myself. I actually had one owner send me an exact copy of that object for free! -BK
  25. Thank you for your reply! I was successful in renaming my TB! Cheers! -BK
