I thought that's what you meant, lol. There is a Gulf Islands National Park Reserve program that offers a geocoin for completing it: http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/pn-np/bc/gulf/activ/activ5.aspx

There is a long string of Island Spirit and CVPT in the Cowichan area if that's what you're looking for, and a challenge cache to go with the Island Spirit ones: http://coord.info/GC3TJXF

Don't think I'm going to bring my phone. I was fine without it last time, so I should hopefully be fine without it this time too.

There's the Mid Island Geocaching site, though it's not as popular as it used to be.

Nanaimo and area (Parksville/Coombs).
Mr. Wilson & a Mt. Goat replied to CacheHownds's topic in Canada
Unless you have your own boat, Newcastle Island will be hard to get to, the ferry starts operation on April 1st so if you stick around you could go over then. The only way to get around on the island is by walking, so it's good to give yourself lots of time to walk around. -

Nanaimo and area (Parksville/Coombs).
Mr. Wilson & a Mt. Goat replied to CacheHownds's topic in Canada
Like you mentioned, Bowen Park is a nice place to find some cool caches. Further North in Nanaimo there are also some nice caches along the coast(Neck Point Park for example, has lots), most caches hidden by bigbluemarble have lots of swag in them (great for kids). Protection island is a nice day trip to a quiet island.(ferry schedule) If you're up in the Parksville/Qualicum area, GC2Y8Q8 is a must, great cache! -
Publication of 2,000,000th Active Cache
Mr. Wilson & a Mt. Goat replied to geocat_'s topic in General geocaching topics
I'm glad you posted a link to the log because it would have taken me forever to find it in all that spam. -
and finally for tonight (though I haven't found this one yet) GCH8R8

and if you haven't done so already, here's a cool one to find in Victoria: GCTHAF

Don't forget this one either, definitely unique (and has over 200 favs): GC2Y8Q8

Thanks for that one. The family and I may be in Nanaimo for the Easter weekend and we're looking for some interesting caches to do in the area. Just remember the final is not available on Sundays.

The first cache on Vancouver Island is a cool one :GC84D , though it's not for everyone. If you're in Nanaimo, here's a fun one that involves history and a great final:GC1AM3P

air powered cannon?
Mr. Wilson & a Mt. Goat replied to niverson92's topic in General geocaching topics
I don't think an air cannon would be a good Idea, but if you want something similar, I've seen a cache where the film canister was shot out with a spring, similar to pinball. -
Not wanting to give away the caches name on here, but it's a cache on an island that's only accessible on foot at low tide, and that does not receive a lot of visitors. They're not the first to DNF it either, others have as well. They also mentioned it hasn't been found in almost a year, and by almost a year, they mean 7 months.
-
How often should you log a DNF on the same cache?
Mr. Wilson & a Mt. Goat replied to pldiguanaman's topic in How do I...?
I log a new DNF for each day I look for a cache, which is almost every time I visit it. I won't log multiple for the same day, even if I looked separate times. -
Hmmmm, if this is so....... 1- no reason to archive it. Does someone else want to place a cache within 160m? 2- how was it placed? 3- how did someone look for it? That's too deep for anything other than a specialty sub. 1. Probably not. 2. by sub 3. by sub I don't think he was suggesting it be archived, just stating that it hasn't been found yet.

Looks like we're headed back there again this year for spring break vacation, this time to the Holguin area. Not sure if I want to bring my android phone with me or not
-
If it was a buoy for a swimming area, I'm sure you'd be fine, I've found a few like this... but having said this, you don't want to bring a boat around there. Like cerberus1 said, I don't think many buoys are free to attach stuff to, unless you get permission.

Garmin Dakota 20 or Magellan eXplorist 310
Mr. Wilson & a Mt. Goat replied to ifaref's topic in GPS technology and devices
If you look on the right sites the price difference is only about 15$. Like gpsblake said, you may want to check out the eTrex 20 or 30 too. -
Interesting to see that a higher population does not necessarily mean a higher cache density. Thanks for posting this!
