  1. Can someone please explain the coords. a little, how they translate into distance for example? Thanks
  2. After reading these posts I went to Cheaper Than Dirt.com and ordered a Six Pack of ammo cans for $19.99. Such a deal! Even with the $8 shipping it's cheaper than the $6 a piece I can get locally. We will be hiding our first cache this weekend. It will be an ammo can stocked with good stuff. We just got a new, huge 99 cents and less store down the street and they have all kinds of great stuff for a buck.
  3. Bought my Magellan Pioneer in 1997 I think. Still have the receipt somewhere. Found my first dozen or so caches with it no problem even though it is lacking a decimal place on the coords. Now I use a Garmin Legend which I really like.
  4. Go to the car lot! All kinds of new cars with navigation systems out there!
  5. I did just what you are talking about. Got 4.03 for $38 on Ebay and upgraded to 5.6 I think. Thought I was all smart and everything until someone here popped my bubble by telling me I still have all the old map info. Still works great for me though. I still recommend though, it as the $100 version will be out of date before long anyway.
  6. On three occasions on two different Legends my max. speed has mysteriously been wrong . Twice on two different Legends I have seen my maximum speed displayed at 123 mph and yesterday I noticed that it was reading 150 something MPH. I swear I never drove this fast officer! Anybody else ever experience this?
  7. It was a 7. something meg upgrade though. So it must be something good.
  8. I recently purchased a new copy of Metroguide 4.03 for $38 I think on Ebay and went to Garmin's website and upgraded it to Version 5.4 for free! I think this was pretty dang smart of me! Agreed?
  9. I got 7 ft. accuracy on my Etrex Legend while crossing Utah the other day with WAAS enabled.
  10. I got Metroguide 4.02 and installed almost 8 meg of maps. All went great, oe so I thought. Then afterwards I start seeing occasional scrambling of the screen. Seems to come and go. Seems to stop when I turn the backlight on. Any body else experience this?
  11. but 'buy it now' is not always the sellers lowest price, the one I got for $140 was 'buy it now' for $160. By the way the sellers name is 'kaostheorm'
  12. Any of you ever tried geocaching using just the coordinates and not knowing anything about what you are actually looking for? I tried it today and the numbers got me to an interesting old oak tree but I couldn't find anything. So I went home and looked at the cache online then I went back and found it. It was a very good hide with a film container glued to the underside of a piece of bark and then set over a hole in a large low branch!
  13. I recently bought an Etrex legend on Ebay for $140 brand new. Let me know if you want the sellers name.
  14. Today while looking for the first cache in the Sulfer Springs Ranch cache, Robin accidently found a micro cache called No Way Street. It had a log in it with no entries. We were first to find I guess and I think I know why. It isn't listed on Geocaching.com! Anybody know anything about this mystery cache?
