  1. Which map software are you running? Sounds like it's looking at only the base map.
  2. There is a lanyard hole just above the USB port on the back of the unit. If you use that rubbery hole next to the antenna I'm sure it would tear before long.
  3. We recently picked up a TB while on vacation in Niagara Falls Canada and thought it would be great to bring it home to California. We took it and promptly placed it in one of our own caches nearby. The next person to log the cache stated that they dropped off a TB but didn't see the TB that we had placed in there from Canada! We went to the cache to check and sure enough it's not there. We feel very bad about it being missing but don't know what to do about it. Robin watched me actually place it in there. The cacher who said it wasn't there said that he sat on the steps of the old abandoned farm house nearby to sign the log. This was about 30 to 40 feet from the cache location. Went back and checked around the steps but no luck. What should I do?
  4. You can choose under Map Setup at which zoom level you want user waypoints (geocaches) to show on the map Go to map screen then push menu button, go to map setup then to the points screen, then user waypoints. Change this field and see what you think.
  5. and curiously enough there is a members only knife cache out there with the word knives in the title.
  6. I had this same problem at one point on my desktop computer but not when running gsak from my laptop. Couldn't figure out where I had screwed up gsak on my desktop computer so I just reinstalled it and all was good!
  7. load your pocket query into GSAK then export as a cachemate file under File>Export. Then hot sync your pda
  8. Recently downloaded the new nRoute beta and have noticed that when I have my 60cs connected to the laptop that the moving vehicle arrow on nRoute doesn't keep up with my actual location at all. I thought maybe it was my antique laptop running Win 98 but then remembered that I can track on Metroguide v4 perfectly with no lag. Then I thought well maybe it's because I'm using a serial connection, so I tried the usb cable tonight coming into work with the same results. Anybody else experience this? Makes it pretty much useless for navigating as you are well past your next turn by the time it tells you to turn soon!
  9. Try this...Push 'Find', then 'Waypoints', then push 'Menu' button, scroll down to 'Delete', then choose 'all symbols' or make selection of which symbols to delete then push 'Enter' button. Poof! all gone...
  10. Ok never mind, I found the thread that covers this topic. Autorouting on the GPS seems to be the major difference.
  11. I hve a 60cs and am running an updated version of Metroguide 4 which does have autorouting. I like it just fine but would like newer POI info as well as updated maps. What are the major differences between City Select 6 and Metroguide 6? Which one do you guys use and why?
  12. Well as of Nov. 3 we have been geocaching for one year now. In that time we have had such a great time caching together! Oh the places we have been and the sites we've seen. It used to be, when we went on vacation, we would hit the usual tourist spots and eat a lot! Now we go with a mission! We just returned from an east coast vacation where we flew out from California to Buffalo and rented a car and worked our way down to my Brother's house in Georgia. We found caches all along the way. We picked up caches in New York, Vermont, Maine, Maryland, DC, Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia. On previous trips we cached in Nevada, Colorado and Arizona. We have been to so many cool places that we would have never seen. Even in our own town where we have both been for over 30 years! In our 27 years together we have never had such a common interest as Geocaching. It has brought us closer together and is something we really look forward to almost every weekend. I man the GPS and Robin takes care of the PDA and finds most of the caches while I wander in circles staring at the 60CS telling her it can't be "there"! In this one year period we have found 609 caches and have 40 of our own out there. I still find it exciting to check my email and see new logs on our caches. Just felt like sharing this with all of you and thanks for all those caches out there. Go hide another one! Happy caching!
  13. This goes for everything...Buy the best, you won't be disappointed.
  14. Yep that's me. I appreciate the quick reply. Wasn't expecting answers so quickly so I posted here also. So do I need another reg. code?
  15. As a registered Cachemate user is it possible to install and register on both of my PDA's that have different user names? It seems that I can only register it on the one with the user name that I first installed it on. Do I need to buy a second copy of cachemate to do this? Thanks
  16. I can't seem to create a new database in cachemate. When I click on new or rename, it does nothing. When I click on del it will let me do that, not that I want to. I have one DB called default. What am I missing here. Yes I'm registered.
  17. soon the lawn will be 12 inches tall, weeds everywhere, house a mess, at least for the first 8 or 9 months anyway.
  18. But they are all powered by two AA batteries...
  19. I dumped a few pocket queries into GSAK last weekend and exported them as cachemate pdb files and installed them on my PDA. Went out caching and discovered those caches didn't include any past logs. I had it set for 7 logs. What happened?
  20. Yes make sure it IS checked. Won't work for crap without it! It tries to autoroute but only sees the basemap even though you have all the other maps loaded.
  21. I received an email this morning from a user with 450 or so finds through geocaching.com. It asked if I was planning on moving along his TB which is in a race and he would like it to win. Problem is I don't have his TB and it doesn't seem to exist. The email also contained the BugBear virus. I have the feeling that the user didn't actually send this and that somehow someone is hacking the website somehow. Tell me I'm wrong!
