  1. I'm glad this topic came up! I've been wondering the same thing.
  2. I'd also like to pipe in about poisonous berries. I took a local Edible and Medicinal Plants class, and not that that makes me an expert, but I did learn that MANY wild berries are very poisonous. If you don't know what the berry is DON'T eat it. This has been a PSA from ashenflowers.
  3. You blood blot looks like a person's profile (head only, facing left). Oh wait, we weren't playing that game?
  4. I 100% agree! I LOVE the Bu Babies!!! and Lachupa's drawings too! I am also too far from both to get them though. I haven't created my sig item yet (still new, didn't actually know about sig items until this thread, but now I think they're neat). Was sort of leaving sig items in some of the caches I found so far without really meaning to. lol I was thinking of either a faux flower (the kind you'd get off a hawaiian necklace/lei), or an origami crane or flower. Does that sound ok... or lame?
  5. Nicely done. I love blogging as well, and if the geocaching hobby takes off with me as I think it will, I will probably include some geocaching posts in my blog(s). Your posts, so far, have a pretty good ratio of pics-to-text. Enough pics to keep it interesting, and enough text to tell a story, without a snore. You should put a little warning about spoilers though, even if you're not saying the name/exact locale. Someone in your area could easily catch on and miss out on some of their own discovering. Just a thought. Good job though.
  6. Hello! I guess I'm a lurker. Signed up over 2 years ago (!!!), but at the time I did not have a GPS, nor anyone I knew who was a cacher so I never really got into it. But my now-hubby is interested, AND he has an iPhone and a GPS, so we're all set (as soon as his iPhone stops dying/rebooting itself when I try to use it for searching). Finally started really searching for caches on Aug 14th, and so far we're 5/8 over the weekend. lol I guess that's ok for some newbs. Happy Caching! (hah! that spells 'Ca-ching!' neat... that's how I feel when I find one.. like... "CA-CHING! Winnerrrr!!!"... yes, I'm actually a loser...)
  7. Hello, and welcome to GCing! Hubby and I found our first one yesterday (even though I signed up a while ago). Congrats on the find!
  8. Hi there! We're also new. Signed up a long time ago, but didn't have a GPS (yes, I could've used a map) or anyone to search with (yes, I could've gone alone), but now my new hubby has an interest (AND a GPS and iPhone..lol) so we finally started GCing. Got our first ones yesterday
  9. Another newb here. Great thread, with great tips! Went out today, and found 2/4. We too relied a bit much on our 'exact' GPS I think.
