  1. Dunno whether the text was changed afterwards but I now read "Log a Found it on any other cache type (excludes Adventure Lab® Locations)" for 25 points, but the minimum values are still at 100 and 1000. What's more binding: the blog post or a video (or what else)? (the numbers are the same in the YT short I just watched - where did you find 1000 and 2000?)
  2. We're on holidays, riding our bikes through a quite rural area, and while we even did a Wherigo, we won't be able to do a virtual (there's one that would have required a boat though), earthcache (again, one that would take a whole day) or any event (none as event hosts seem to be on vacation too) while on the road for three weeks. Our hopes are now focused on our homezone where a few of those are left. Up to now we haven't even collected the easy souvenir, with six different cache types...
  3. Anyone with the hard souvenir yet, (cited from the blog post) i.e., having started a streak at least a week before July 3 and continued since then?
  4. And there it is - the "medium" souvenir ;-) after finishing yet another LC stage. Now the hard part starts...
  5. Since souvenirs are now flowing, and hopefully will not be blocked for the upcoming stages - what about going back to speculating which challenges will be coming in August and September? Both will be 28-day "months", which may be fortunate or unfortunate, depending on the tasks... In the beginning, the wheel offered (in that order, three times each) - smiley (drawn as 1st challenge) "seeking smileys" - two people - coins with multi symbol - heart (challenge 2) "favourite fan" - car (challenge 3) "out and about" - star (challenge 4) "streak star" The mathematicians now can determine the chances to draw 4 from 6 selections and have no duplicates... and can smoothly continue to the chances of getting the other two next... If the draw was really random we should see a duplicate sooner or later, shouldn't we? What do you experts say? (Yeah, yet another 4-week streak star in August?! That'd be really hard!) Nevertheless, what about the two yet not-unveiled challenges: the "multi-coined" and the "multi-people" ones? Will we have a "multi month" and a "summer of socialising", whatever that would mean? Your ideas, please
  6. @Hügh Very nice, in particular the in-between status reports. While it apparently took me another log this morning (that doesn't show up on PGC) to get the Easy award, things seem to go back to normal. We'll certainly see on Sunday when the first 7-day streaks will be done.
  7. Reports are that the Easy souvenir has been seen in the wild now (maybe triggered only by yet another find?).
  8. It's understandable they are working on first giving the Streak Star souvenir to those who earned it, and when there are man-hours left, they'll retract the ones erroneously given.
  9. We will know whether the issue has really been fixed after/on day 7 of the streak (i.e. on Sunday). I guess that the "acquired date" is the date when the algorithm noticed it was time to hand the souvenir over, not the date when you fulfilled the requirements. This has already been seen with regional souvenirs...
  10. In two other threads, Groundspeak Lackeys have recently confirmed that the bug is being isolated, and souvenirs will be retroactively awarded. It's just a matter of time (the first "medium" souvenirs will be due on Sunday).
  11. Streak of four, no APE, no Easy souvenir. Starting to wonder what the August challenge (something with multi-caches, perhaps a 28-streak of them?) will be, and whether the issue will be fixed then.
  12. Existing finds are not affected, otherwise people changing their status from PM to BM would (temporarily or permanently) lose a lot of counts. Non-PMs who have the "old" cache data on their devices don't recognise the change, and can still log finds. Non-PMs (e.g. who joined PMs on a cache trip) can find the caches, and log finds. Anyone who finds the container can log a find if she can identify the cache...
  13. If it's still there you didn't remove it, so someone with outdated data on the device can still find - and log - it. In our area there's an owner who frequently claims a cache to be "vandalised" to archive it - while it's still in perfect shape - but never collects them. Sometimes one would find one of those only a few feet from an active cache (by another owner). Nice containers, btw, but we decided to log, not to steal them. Others may think differently, and clean up - so what's wrong with this?
  14. If only the app had an option to sort not only by actual distance, but by completion date - and had a way to identify ALCs which didn't get my review yet... That wouldn't resolve my original problem but be helpful a bit.
  15. There's no such thing as a log for LC waypoints, but in the past the mere "find" click (the one that successfully answers the question) did it. Ofc the traditional had its log sent yesterday, and today's find completed a LC (with a review, in case that counts - never saw that though). So there's little to do but knock on wood and continue tomorrow. @Hüghcan we have a checker just for the fun of it, pretty puhleeze?
  16. What about ALCs? I'm asking because I found a regular cache yesterday (Jul 3, afternoon UTC), and could only make it to an ALC waypoint today. If ALCs count, that would give me the easy souvenir - but it hasn't shown up yet. If not, I've spent two non-streak days. Fortunately, this is a five-week challenge. Since challenges are supposed to be randomly selected, this one could have easily hit a four-week month (like June), without any chance to fix things for the hardliners among us. Update: the discussion below the announcement suggests that others may have problems getting the souvenir too even with "pure" traditionals. So learning whether it works at all or not may be unnecessarily postponed. There seems to be a ticket open for this - anyone has the link? Just another random thought: This challenge requires completing a streak - and an ongoing streak isn't complete yet; completion is only achieved by having a non-find day. If the rule is like this, there's close to no time to find out. (Once again, a matter of definition of "streak" - something the announcement doesn't even care to explain.)
  17. Because that won't help me if I can't use the app, and/or want to post process my finds...
  18. ALCs: While there's no container that can disappear or be damaged beyond repair - even an AL can disappear rather silently, and there's not even a way (know to me - if you can enlighten me, please do so!) to learn why: The link (e.g. from the logs page) is still valid, one gets a valid QR code to open in the app, but once that's done - no way to continue, nothing in the reviews, and no means to get in touch with the owner from inside the app. If there's a bonus, you're lucky... Fortunately, such ones are the rare exception to the rule, but they can hit unexpectedly too, and one should not rely on them too much - if it rains, it pours, y'know...
  19. Day 20 (since the challenge started on Jun 5) is approaching ... I'm so excited ;-)
  20. I know how to find all ALCs I ever started (https://labs.geocaching.com/logs) - but there's no indication of whether I actually completed them (not all of them have 5 "stations", I've also seen 1, 10 or 4 so the number next to the smiley doesn't help). I know that in the past I "forgot" to log some of them on completion - e.g. because the network or phone battery broke down and I couldn't fix that, and back home I forgot about them... How can I learn (without using the app) about finished ALCs with and without a log (review), and how do I find incomplete ones (so next time I'm getting close I can take care of them)?
  21. Currently PGC seems to be a bit behind, must have been a busy weekend for many geocachers (and PGC users). Self-service seems to be disabled (tried on two different platforms, buttons are "greyed" out). I'll check back tomorrow ... Re the 21 required finds: Since I'm planning to make the 20-day challenge a short streak (Jun 5--24), that one will contribute 7 points alone. I found 5 extra caches yesterday -> got to find a trail with 10 available caches for Saturday 24th. Looks feasible...
  22. There's a small glitch in the PGC checker - it will list the last log for the day, not the first one (which may have triggered the souvenir). But that's no problem, I suppose I found this after visiting two ALC rounds (*) on Sunday - the checker lists the last station of the second one. (*) What a waste of resources, you may think. I was visiting a place far enough from my home zone so it was pure fun and no waste of precious resources for this challenge (or the next to come) B-)
  23. Same result here, from three traditional finds logged on three consecutive days in the afternoon UTC, one ALC location logged the following day in the afternoon UTC, one ALC location logged the next day (= today) in the morning (before 0700) UTC - awarded with the Easy souvenir. So with the exception of the first and last days (where you'd have to watch out for noon UTC) this seems to be smooth, at least for us at +0200. Re the discussion of postponed ALC logs: not everything is obvious at the particular location (plus there are ALCs which don't seem to have any connection to the place), and one may have to search for the right answer until the next day - so unlocking a location for answering later from anywhere makes some sense. Whether unlocking multiple locations makes sense too, and is possible at all, hasn't been an urgent question for me yet. (And my ALC app tends to be closed and have to be restarted when in the background for too long...)
  24. After writing a comment in this thread I've been made aware that mentioning a third-party app (instead of the official one, which isn't "third party" in my interpretation) isn't acceptable, and my contribution has been hidden (in a way that I seem to be unable to change or delete it). Third-party websites may be frowned upon the same way. *shrugs*
  25. Update: 1/20 now so patience pays off.
