  1. I don't see a problem with religious items at all. They obviously have value to people. I have seen many different hand made items and store bought trinkets that are quite nice. My daughter has taken to trading one article to the next when found.

What I do not like though is the a gluttony of pamphlets. Those should be treated like advertising in my mind. If it is a book great but when it starts looking like a business advertisement it should not be allowed. I know that is a very grey line but it is my opinion.

    -HHH

I agree with this, if it's religious artifacts... fine, it has value to some people, but what I wouldn't want to see is caches to become a tool for proselytizing.

  2. When I can, I leave exotic foreign coins, which are small and cool.

Yeah, I do this too... I have a pile of them that I'll never use (and it's cool exchanging them for one I don't already have).

  3. don't pretend your GPSr is a cellphone. people know what cellphones look like, and they're not fooled.

Well, if you're holding it in your hands and "texting" it's a little hard for others to tell what kind of "cell phone" you have in your hands.

Nice thread... I like the camera idea.

  4. I have a slot for it. What is it, what would I use it for?

I have been able to load all my waypoints so far, so is it if I wanted a zillion waypoints - which I would never want anyways, since the GPS doesn't have a search feature...

I do have the US Topo Map, would it be used for this?

If that is a yes, how do I use that? Would that come up as an additional map when I am hunting for a cache? I don't want the entire US coming up when I am looking for one close by or even 100+mi away from home. I only want the topos associated with the cache I am hunting.

If I should get one, any suggestions on brand, size etc.

I have a Garmin HCX Vista.

    Thanks for the info!

I use it to keep more maps on my gps. It's true that you probably don't need the topomap for the entire country, but say you're having a road trip through several states, you may want to keep the maps of more than one region on your gps. Also, if you want multiple types of maps (i.e. citinav and topo) - you could switch between them on your gps (at least with my gpsmap 60csx, you can).

Since SD cards are cheap (I got a 2 gb for around $10), you might as well use it.
