  1. Hi, I'm a lurker who is reintroducing myself. I am the only remaining member of the team Two & the Zoo and haven't been out geocaching in a very long time. I really miss it. My team was my husband, our dog and me. In May 2008, my husband died from a sudden cardiac arrest, and our dog died a week after him. My husband was so looking forward to reaching our 100th find and setting our Travel Bug free. We only got to 89. I'd like to pick up and reach his goal, but I just haven't had the heart to go back out on my own alone. Lorie
  2. We were watching a pbs show (produced in Nashville, TN) called "Tennessee Crossroads". They had a segment on Geocaching featuring some of the members of the Middle TN Geocaching group. At first, I thought they were hunting Geodes. I wasn't paying very close attention until they put it back...and I thought "Why on earth would you hunt Geodes and then put them back?" So I started watching more closely and thought "Hey, this is so cool!". I ran and told my dear hubby that I thought I had found something really cool on tv. We googled it and 30 minutes later went out and found our first cache (without a GPSr). It took 2 weeks for the UPS guy to bring our Etrex. It was 2 weeks of pure agony waiting for the Etrex! We've been hooked ever since! Big Thanks to the Middle TN Geocachers! Two & the Zoo
  3. We found used deodorant once. Glad that someone was fresh...at least on the way to the cache.
  4. Also when you sneak an empty altoids container out of the trash when no one is looking because it would be a good cache container.... Or keep the little plastic container of silica gel that came in a bottle of Motrin because just maybe it would keep a micro from getting damp inside...Or when you hold up a line of angry shoppers at Wal-mart because you noticed that the cashier is wearing a Geocaching.com lanyard around her neck and you just have to find out who she is....Or while traveling you stop at a gas station and are taking the dog for a potty break and you are standing beside a street light and casually reach over to search it...and then realize that you aren't actually geocaching but JUST taking the dog for a potty break. Guilty on all counts. Two & the Zoo
  5. Snakes. Yes definitely, snakes. Doesn't matter if they're big or little...they're all still snakes. And SPIDERS!!!...big, hairy spiders....with fangs.
  6. Geowoodstock was intended to be an event where the top cachers - among others - would be able to attend, as opposed to a local event... So, no, while the top cachers will be there, it's not just for them. It's for all of us. Thanks, Fly. Glad to know that.
  7. Just a quick question because I'm confused... Is GW3 only for the top cachers? I only ask because it was mentioned about it being an event to draw in top cachers. Thanks in advance.
  8. Ours is really exciting. There's 2 of us, and we have a bunch of "wild" animals that we call "The Zoo" (instead of naming each one of them individually). Saturday, we added 2 more to "The Zoo" (at least temporarily)....two stray puppies found us on the trail while caching. Two & the Zoo
  9. We geocache for the same reason we drove to Alaska from Tennessee twice...We just wanted to have an adventure. (And we sure have had some! Last night we were ambushed in the woods by an angry, snorting deer!) Two & the Zoo
  10. No offense taken. I'm a little....ok, a lot...obsessive/compulsive when it comes to photos. Everyone in my family runs from me at the holidays. Wonder why? Lorie of Two & the Zoo
  11. That is so cool, Chris! I would have never guessed that they were your first two. You should see my first page. Hideous! I especially like how you took the webpage from Ducks Unlimited and used it as your background. Really a nice effect. What is the font used for "Duck Meadows"? Lorie
  12. I love your page, too. Great job! I am an avid scrapbooker too and meticulously take photos at every cache...including the location, the cache itself, what we took, what we left, the logbook, both of us with the cache...and whatever else is there to be photographed (scenery, animals, muggles, you name it). I also have all the pages printed off the website for each cache, and keep a detailed journal of the events. But....I don't seem to have gotten any pages made at this point. After seeing yours, I'm eager to get some pages done. Thanks! Lorie
  13. Auntie Weasel, you have a big heart. Hope the little baby makes it okay. I'd call a vet. Best wishes to the baby.
  14. Oh No!!! Oh No!!! We really have a very serious problem..... because we actually did spend our anniversary geocaching and then admitted it in the logs! I had no idea how sick we really are. Will we be ok??? Are we headed down the slippery slope? Is it too late for us to recover? Two & the Zoo
