  1. Jeff, have you ever been to a Turkish prison?

Evet!!! Tabii Türk bir hapishaneye bir zaman gittim. Türkiye'deyken, benim kizarkada$imin anneannesinin evi bir hapishane yakindadir. Gerçekten, o bir yer çok güzel!

(Oh....Duscwe! didn't know that I speak Turkish).

  3. PUZZLES! You folks want PUZZLES!  3 have been release in the last 12 hours.

PUZZLES?? Yeah. I got yer puzzles right here!

I've got one waiting to be approved called "Opus 25 Etude in E-flat Major".

According to FlagMan, he's got one in the queue, and Dillon Gang is out in the field right now placing yet another puzzle, according to devhead.

My God! What have I wrought???? <_<

  4. Sheesh! This one's so tough, I can't even find the cache page!

All you puzzle junkies, I'm sorry for the delay. But I had some questions on my new one when I beta-tested it, and as a result had to re-format and re-design the grpahics using a different program. That was a little tedious. Anyhoo, it's all set to go, so all I need to is to place the cache itself tomorrow, and get admin to approve. Should be live Sat or Sunday I think.

If you're having withdrawls from my puzzles, you might want to try some of Mary Magdalene's Negro Baby's puzzles. They are quite fun too. And I hear the little rumour that FlagMan's got one in the works too. That's on the QT though.

  5. Thanks all for the offerings. I made a spontaneous run to go to an event in Cochise County, AZ this weekend. I cracked a bad-boy I've been working on for three weeks. And I think I'll make MINIAC-1 (GCK5A5) by Team Dodge Podge the big ol #1000 for me. It's a 5/2..but looks more like a 5/3.5 from the difficulty of the roads in that area.

Thanks all for the ideas, though. Especially Pandora's Box. That one looks just downright nasty. :P

Heads up....for those who weren't at the Mission Bay event cache, I've a new puzzle cache in the approval queue. 4/2.5. Hope you all sing my praises for it. :P

  6. I'd like to throw open to the SD community the straw poll as to which cache I should do for my 1000th. I was hopeful that "Off to see a Wizard" would've been re-activated for #1000, but it looks like that's not gonna happen by this weekend. So please gimme some good ideas for a milestone (preferably here in SD or in LA), and I'll try and go for it this weekend. Vote early vote often. And no...Erte Ala Volcano (GCB5D7) is not up for consideration. B)

  7. There's a puzzle (that will take TT 2.7 seconds to solve) and a good scramble to the chamber. Its rated a 4/4 but I think its easier than that. WE[/b

Its worth a trip to LA just for the cache. Put it on your list.

All I can say on this Chamber of Secrets is thank goodness I'm from AZ. Actually took about 1.4 seconds to recognize what it is, Dan-oh. :o But I'll put this one on my puzzles-to-do list with the 150 or so in the Bay Area I need to do.

Yeah...you all think that I'm filthy sick in the head with puzzles. Check out Sunnyvale and San Jose for some true masters of masochism. It's like Mecca for puzzlers up there! Anyone wanna go up and bag about 100 puzzles some time? Lemme know!

  8. Really want to do the Sandy creek cowboy cache that requires the ladder or pole or whatever.

    Duscwe!

Contrary to the sage advice of dem ol' cowboyz, Sandy Creek 3 doesn't require a ladder. It's HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, but I had to prove to myself if just for the self-aggrandizing pride, that I could do it without. Besides, how to you strap a 15 ft ladder to a sedan? But hey...you too might get an academic grant from the 'Boyz if you don't use a ladder as well! B)

    #5 is hilarious, though!

  9. Tonight I dropped off YJTB #0060 in Sunset Cache and #4232 in Pay Homage to the Master. For those who have already "paid homage", please don't be a toolbox and go back just to grab the Jeep. I put that one in there to perhaps give motivation to those on the cusp of finishing it as a semi-prize. The one in Sunset is a free for all, on the other hand.

  10. Jeep watchers of SD County,

Found a Yellow Jeep TB in a cache out in Tucson today. I'll be bringing it back to SD on Monday to drop there. Just giving you all a heads up warning. I'll try and place it somewhere fairly central so the stampede for it can be as large as possible. #0068 if you want to put it on the watchlist.

  11. I agree with this view. Even though Tucson Thompsen is crimminaly insane and continues to put out brain busting caches, i still have that need to solve them, however, there are a few i choose not to find...like hiking for 10miles in the desert. sometimes you find a cache and have a great experience and other times you just log the find and move on. I remember the great ones.

    Chipping in for my $0.02,

Dillon Gang I think succinctly and rather adroitly states the majority opinion of us geocachers. Whatever you like, do! As long as you get enjoyment out of the experience...be it hiking caches, urban micros, camouflage tests, leisurely strolls, crypto-puzzles, or sewer exploration...if you enjoy the hunt, the moment of discovery, etc., then this sport has a place for everybody.

Eventually someone will place a power trail here in SD County. I have just accepted this as fact. There is too much open space for it not to occur. Personally, I don't like the idea of a power trail consisting of what back home the local Tucson cacher-crowd has come to call NC's (nuisance caches), that is the "unexciting or uninspired cache hide that pops up on your list", but I'm no elitist either. I will do one of these trails one of these days...just for the experience. But let's please try to make room for everybody in this sport. It's really quite fun, and we should be embracing eveyone who wants to get in on the action.

A good point is brought up by the Adams Family. In regards to disabled caches, how long is too long MIA/not replaced before people should request things to be archived? I have asked for caches to be archived before, but usually for good reason: the cache is destroyed/long gone, the location is dangerous/illegal/built over, the owner is absentee/moved away, etc. I'll usually wait about 6 months after last find before I'll enquire about a cache. But I never ask for a cache to be archived (even if it IS on private property) as long as it is active and has recent finds. But cache owners should, I think, be more cognizant of no finds. Several in a row is a pretty good signal that something is not right with the cache. I do get irked seeing the same old disabled caches on my to find list, knowing that the owner hasn't got round to replacing a container, but I think most cachers tend to be pretty patient before asking Admin to step in. As a question to everyone else out there, what is the communal rule of thumb (or your own) as it were before too long of inactivity is deemed too long.

Man...when those voices in my head get to telling me what to write, they can be pretty long-winded. ^_^

    Regards,

(the voices in the "criminally insane" head of) TucsonThompsen

  12. Come to think of it, I've never met Cow Spots and never seen them both at the same time.

The only (confirmed?) sighting of the The Cow Spots and TucsonThompsen on the trail. From Wilbur's Wildcat Webcam at the U. of Arizona. Taken by our good friend Mr. Sasquatch.

  13.

And has anyone ever really met TucsonThompsen?

Yes....I exist. In no particular order, I have met on the trail:

    HelBobDuo (twice), The Senior Sleuths

bd_chris....(helped patch up his kid yesterday after the boy took a rock to the head from his brother.)

FlagMan, padregirl, TeamTaskmaster, ClimberX & norbu, Miles678, The4Deez

Duscwe! ,John & Jess... and probably a few others who I am forgetting.

It's always a pleasure to meet people on the trail and chat for a bit.

  14. Miles....Shouldn't be long, eh? Duscwe! got it last night, and someone else at 1:30 this morning. I hit it on my morning commute. Just out of curiosity, on average how long does it take from when a cache is approved to when GC.com renders it onto the maps? I know you can sometimes see a new cache in the listing before it shows up on the maps. Heads up warning to all: I've a new puzzle in the queue. A 5/3.5. It's a fun one, and hopefully it will make all of your heads spin a la Linda Blair in the Exorcist.
