  1. I hope they are doing well, because I like that they have created this hobby/activity for me to enjoy
  2. How about a zip code challenge, find a cache in every WA zip code. Exclude the PO zip codes and the military installation zip codes.
  3. Have any geocachers had a wild pig encounter while out in the woods/parks/public lands? Sunday night on one of Discovery Channels we watched a show called "The Pig Bomb" about the invasive wild pig population and they have become much larger and much more aggressive than in the past. There were examples of them attacking property, pets and people. While the problem is predominately in the south eastern US, they have been reported in 41 states.
  4. Can we give our favorite points to other premium members? I have 180 but I am not sure how or why I got them. I have a bookmark list called Personal Favorites, its a public bookmark and I think its sufficient for expressing my faves. Favorite Points on my profile page and when I post a find are distracting. I don't want them
  5. You could stipulate that geocachers post at least 50 words, however I think thats what considered an ALR. Also your cache's finds would drop too.
  6. A shopping cart about twenty feet up in a tree (appeared to have had the tree grow up around it A 3' x 3' safe with its door ripped off Then we were camping at Mount Rainier as a kid (geocaching did not exist back then), a man walked by me in a three piece suit, boler hat, walking stick and gray spats. He said hello as he passed me on a trail. My mom asked me if I had seen him too.

  8. There is no icon for a FTF other than the first posting on the log. We have two FTF's after 1670 caches after seven years. Would rather be in the middle than the worst option: LTF (last to find-as in the cache goes missing, etc)
  9. When you click on maps, all the geocaches in that area appear. To the right of the map are the Premium Member filters two of which are "Hide My Finds" with a smiley face and "Hide My Caches" with a star. Perhaps one could be added that is "Show My Finds"? That is a way people could see their finds easier if they are keeping a tally of county, city or regional finds. Some people do not use GSAK or other PC based programs.
  10. Travel Bugs are not swag. They are meant to be move from cache to cache. They are not meant to lanquish in a cache because the CO enjoys looking at the roster of TB's sitting in their cache. Your only fault is that you did not take the other three Travel Bugs. But as a TB owner, I am thanking you for that rescue
  11. All the geocachers who own travel bugs thank you for not placing one in that cache. That would the epitome of a travel bug prison
  12. 90 minutes of my life I won't get back. Dreadful movie
  13. What she said. If the cache is pretty routine or uninteresting or if the cache owner has not logged into the site for a long time, I will leave a happy face. But thats rare.
  14. Here's how your online log reads: "We found our own cache, hooray! TNLNSL, TFTH" Seems pointless and tacky.
  15. I like the outdoors, getting exercise. travel, numbers, the internet and using my analytical skills (that I have left), geocaching lets me do a combination of two or more of those. You are hooked on geocaching? With 5 finds in 5 months..........
  16. Don't worry. It was probably a cut and paste they add to every cache they find. These same people probably have a geocaching blog off site where they write copious descriptions about their finds. Interestingly that information would have more value in the caches logs online than some blog no one will read.
  17. That sucks about the lid. We found the Ape Cache four summers ago and most of the TB's listed are not there. I think a standard ammo can lid would work on this cache if someone wanted to practice some good karma
  18. GC7BE8-Race Track GC8DE6-Trinity GC5603-The Anchor These are three virtuals near downtown Nashville. As a westerner, those virtuals reminded me just how old Nashville and Tennessee is.
  19. Do you have enough vacation left over to maintain those new caches?
  20. Its unfortunate that when someone enters the phrase "trading up" or the word "swag", the forum will not redirect you to all the previous threats about "trading up" and "swag". The forum could then prevent yet another tired threat from being added.
  21. Thanks for the site and the hard work involved. Does anyone know of another geocaching ratings site with county maps and number tallies for them? Thats not GSAK
  22. Watched Splinterheads tonight. 95 minutes of my life I will not get back.
  23. GSAK is mostly aimed at MS software. Its useless on Mac that has no MS software
