  1. I'm trying to put together an event for my director's organization at work. The event will involve around 100 people. I'm working with Playtime, Inc. on a quote, but want to gather other information as well in case our budget does not allow us to use them to organize the event. Biggest shortcoming I am aware of for planning on our own is coming up with 10-20 GPSrs. I was wondering if anyone is aware of any companies in the Kansas City area that might rent out that many units to us for a reasonable fee... TIA!
  2. I'm sure this comes up alot, but I didn't see anything specific in the FAQ or other posts. I apologize for the new thread if I simply overlooked it. I work in a technology park with lots of green space park around our buildings with established trails. I'm interested in seeking permission to hide a cache or two in this area and I've obtained the contact information that should be required to get that permission. My question is if there is an established "standard" contact/media kit for getting permission for placing a geocache. If not, it seems like this would be a good idea and would really help boost the likelyhood of placing a cache. What comes to mind is maybe a multimedia presentation CD that shows how responsible the community is, what the sport is about, and some written materials explaining the rules that Geocachers are asked to follow. Something that can be as introductory material to give the managing authority an idea of what they can expect (probably also important to set expectation of traffic, since even sites with heavy traffic, at least in my area, are typically visited no more than a couple of times a day). Any thoughts or info out there on how to proceed with something that is hopefully already somewhat standardized and succesful? TIA, dkirby7
  3. Just curious how you all go about hunting a benchmark discretely if it is in a high traffic area. There are several benchmarks near me that I'd like to hunt, but they are placed along what are now busy streets, Interstate highway, etc.
  4. Courtney. As mentioned in my email to both you and your list. I didn't mean to cause any confusion or hard feelings. I definitely agree on one community. I simply got frustrated in a fit of insomnia with a perceived lack of features and issues with the existing list. I have deleted the Yahoo! Group. Please consider this post closed.

  6. While Geocaching.com provides a message group for the whole midwest area, I thought it might be nice to have something setup for just the Kansas City area. I've set up a Yahoo! Group (kcgeocache) at: KC Geocache Membership must be approved (to help reduce spam). So if you do a fair amount of activity in the Kansas City area, come join, kick off some messages and upload some pics... Hope this becomes useful as I know KC has a pretty active community, esp. with Garmin HQ'd in Olathe.
