  1. Every once in awhile my Colorado freezes on boot up. The only way to free it is to remove the batteries. I have City Navigator in SD Slot and about 10 panes of Topo loaded from Ibiscus (free stuff). Anybody else have this problem or know a solution?
  2. This was very helpful and I appreciate the time you took to explain this. Multi-path effect is totally new to me and really makes sense of what I have been expereiencing. Perhaps I have been too keen on getting the exact GZ when in effect the accuray of the coordinaters may be determined by the cache hiders GPS. Now I have a much better understanding and can act accordingly. Thanks very much. John
  3. Can you tell me how I do this?
  4. Got ya... Thanks you seem to be a wealth of information and I appreciate your help. Thanks again, John (Pokaroo) PS... Love my Colorado...
  5. OK is that the simple part I am missing? You have to move. Yes they do. But it does not seem to be as responsive (ie slower refesh rate?) as when the compass is turned on. Is this normal? With the compass on you don't have to move... Is this it?
  6. OK who can tell me what I am missing. From reading various threads it seems that one should be able to find a cache with the compass turned off. Is this right or wrong? When I turn my compass off and go into Geocaching mode nothing moves on my screen (arrow or cache line). I know I am missing something very simple here but I am not sure what it is. As you can tell I am fairly new at this and the Colorado 300 is my first GPS which I bought primarily for Geocaching. Can anyone straighten me out?
  7. Yes your cvorrect... sorry... Sounds to me like your deleting waypoint through through the manager and not from the actual waypoint itself. Through the manager there is no crashing, direct through the waypoint you crash.
  8. Works fine on mine... deleted about 10 of them an no crashes.
  9. Why did my text not get included... Here it is again... I love my new Colorado 300. I have read about accuracy and getting different waypoint locations when returning to the same spot. In the Geocaching mode I have found a interesting quirk and wondered if anybody else has ran into this. I am assuming you can geocache with the Compass turn off. But often times when I approach the area of a Cache my Colorado seems to jump all over the placle (WAAS ENabled). When this happens I have found that if I turn my compass on and calibrate it it settles down the GPS and the direction and distance stabilizes nicely. It is then VERY accurate. Other tmes when I seem to have a problem getting a good fix on a cache I just calibrate the compass and it solves the problem. Anyone else run into this or have any great insight as to why this hapens?
  10. Thanks... a very interesting thread from which I learnt much... Pokaroo
  11. Thanks you can delete this one as it is a duplicate, I realized my mistake and posted in the right place. Sorry and Thanks.
  12. Thanks, I went into Position Format and reset the Defaults and now it is working. Appreciated!!!! Pokaroo quote name='g-o-cashers' date='Jul 9 2008, 04:34 AM' post='3550240'] What are your settings under Setup->Position Format? GO$Rs
  13. That is exactly what I am doing... it changes the location but not to the one I have entered? Strange, any more Ideas?
  14. When I try to change a Waypoint my Colorado has a mind of its own, it changes the N coordinated to something else. Ant hints... I am trying to change it from the Waypoint manager but it does the same thing no matter where I try to change it from.
  15. When I try to update a waypoint location my Colorado has a mind of its own. It changes the N coordinate to something other than what I said. Any hints as to how I can solve this?
  16. What is the process to copy a Garmin .ing file to an SD Card? That is, so it will read the file from The SD card rather that internal to the Garmin. I have a Colorado 300.
  17. Well, I be damned! That was too easy. Thanks a bunch...
  18. Does anyone have a link for a sight that allows you to enter DMM coordinates and it shows you where they are on a Map? I can find one for DMS and Decimal but not DMM.
