  1. I just got 2 travel bugs for my birthday & I wanted to know if anyone had any great mission ideas for me to send them out on. Also, do I have to attach the bugs to something? Thanks!!
  2. I'm still kinda new to this sport. I thought event caches were when a group of people all get together & then go off on their own to find the caches? Or are event caches just meeting up with people in your area?
  3. How do I find out about event caches that would be going on in my area? thanks!
  4. It's so crazy to think back to when it happens & what a long road I have traveled. I think it's great that I can smile about what happened that day. My boyfriend and I were doing some hiking/geocaching in northern WI. We were having a great day and we were on our last 2 caches. So we are hiking along the beach treking our way over to the cache. Once we found them we were about to head back. And then I realized that my cell phone fell out of my pocket. I was frantic!! So we dug out the GPS unit & backtracked to the previous cache. Didn't find it. Walked back to the other spot where it might have fallen out, wasn't there... I think we searched for about an hour, we tried calling it from his phone but it was really windy that day & the long dried out grass was making too much noise. All of a sudden, there it was!! Oh, I was sooo relieved. So I said "Let's get the heck out of here" & we started on our way back to the car. We were getting so close to being back to the car, when the day turned around for the worst. There was a fallen tree on the beach and my boyfriend stepped on it & I was following right behind, so I step on the tree. And all of a sudden the worst cracking noise came from my ankle and I fell to the ground screaming in pain. My boyfriend ran back over to me, so see what happened and so I was pretty positive that I broke my ankle/leg. We called the EMS service (luckily we found my phone, cause my boyfriends phone was dead!!!) The EMS asked where we were, but we weren't really absolutly sure, but thank god for GPS units, so he read off the coordinates & they were able to pinpoint right where we were. FINALLY, which seemed like an eternity they arrived. They had to survey the area to see how they were going to get to me. They were thinking either a boat to cross over the man made lake, or along the beach but there was many fallen tress & beaver dams or through the woods. So they decided to do the woods option. They got to me & I was still crying, I couldn't move anything w/out it hurting. They hooked me up to a board, and brought me into the woods & hooked me up the ATV. Which was not the most enjoyable ATV at all!! My ankle was bouncing all over the place & they had given me no drugs yet!! Finally, we got to the ambulance & they hooked me up & started giving me drugs - ahh, so much better! Off the the hospital we went, ran some x-rays - and come to find out I did some major damage. the big bone in my leg completely came off of the ankle & the small bone in your leg broke in half & was missing about 1" of bone. They said that was one of the worst that they have seen in a long time. So they casted me up & sent us back to the campground. Stayed the last night at the campground (pure trooper). Ended up having surgery that following Friday, had to get 2 plates and about 12 screws. It's been 5 months & it still is quite painful to walk long distances. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, cause summer is around the corner & I'm sooo ready to get back out there & find some more caches!! Thanks for reading my adventure! [/size]
