  1. this is just a theory and its gotta be quick because im getting off work soom but you could write up the cache description in a text doc and then using ebookhood.com convert it to "apple note" format then put it on your ipod. This seems like it would be a crude way of doing it and again its only a theory i havent tried it myself but it seems like it should work. maybe someone else has a better way. you could go on ebay and get a old palm pilot for 10-20 bucks then get cachemate and run a pq. (forum search on how to do it)
  2. Bring along a friend of family member. And just be yourself. and dont drink the kool-aid
  3. Many ineffective folk remedies exist for treating the itching, including horsetail , leaf of dock , Jewelweed, mud, saliva, baking soda, calamine lotion or soap and water. These methods can cause short relief only through mechanical stimulation such as rubbing or scratching or by cooling
  4. i would suggest waiting a couple months before you send out the proverbial copy tag. What you could do is go to wal-mart or some place that does the pet id tags and get the tb # engraved on a pet tag, then attach it to your hitchhicker along with a note saying that this is a tb not a regular trade item, blah blah blah. that way you would still have your copy tag just in case.
  5. Just making sure... you know you're not supposed to keep those unless you find them "unactivated", right? EDIT for grammar. even if you find one unactivated you should try to contact the owner and see why its not activated, you shouldnt just keep it
  6. a used spark plug. a unused condom on a college campus cache
  7. On the etrex H all you have to do it go to waypoints >nearest and it tells you the 10 or so closest waypoints. also on the note of transferring its pretty easy. I download the .loc from the cache page, open it in a program called easygps (free), there you can change the name of it, change the symbol, ect. then just send it to the etrex H. Then after the cache trip/journey/adventure/run you can get the tracks off the etrex H and see how far you walked look at all the circles you walked in,
  8. that may be the case. or so when there item comes up missing they dont have to send out the copy tag just another laminated copy. i have heard about doing this with geocoins but not with tb's.
  9. Stick it in a plastic bag with a note saying "do not open"
  10. I suggest just putting your own out there.
  11. i seen nothing with doing so. in fact i do it myself.
  12. she climbed the fence barefooted! ouch.
  13. a bird in the hand is better then 2 in the bush. take it as you will.
  14. if you want a good basic gps then you have an excellent one. this is the one i currently have and it works just fine. A couple of things to do is to get the cable so you can hook it up th your computer and transfer data (its gets annoying having to enter it by hand), make sure you keep the software/firmware up to date on it.
  15. I usually delete all the info when im done with a cache run. you can always up load it again easily. Plus you want to make sure you have all the up-to- date info.
  16. i love doing that too. especially when they are so close.
  17. that'll change. How so ? I'm almost positive that that is a reference to your potential for running out of space and thereby having nothing but finds on your GPSr. There are other hardware related issues that only deleting POIs would solve but that is the most common one. You can put unlimited Garmin POIs on a 60CSx i took it to mean caches geting archived and being able to put a cache in the spot the archived cache was.
  18. yea be truthful. That is how owners know that they need to go put another log in it or needs to be maintained. Another thing is log your did not finds also. There is no shame in this. This is another way to let owners know that they may need to go check on it to make sure it is still there.
  19. i would have to say that from my experience that coins come up missing alot. but i havnt sent any out so i dunno. i do have 1 personal travel bug though.
  20. You should look into Google Earth. Its free and very helpful not only for geocaching.
  21. most new desktops still come with serial connections Not Dells, I had to pay extra for one and that was 2 years ago. Can't speak for any other mfr. ahh i see. im using too brand new HP's(at work) and the both have one.
  22. I have seen a geocacher use a headless golf club as a "poking stick" to poke places he didnt want to reach into.
